Yesterday, a 40-80 stud mix (stud, stud/8, razz) ran at the Bellagio.

The intention of several players is to keep this game running daily during the WSOP rather than playing the 50-100 stud/8 or O/E at the Rio.

When it ran yesterday, it had a few of those Rio players and some Bellagio players keeping the game full for about eight hours. This was despite there being no core players from the regular 30-60 stud game that runs on weekends.

I think this has a shot at succeeding if it starts strong in the next couple weeks.

If I'm not in an event during my trip I will likely be up for this. DM if there is a starter number you want to share.

Will this be the daytime game? Will it be supplanted by a larger game in the evening? Any ideas as to the hours it will be scheduled?

Oh, and while we're on the subject, will there be any tweaks to the razz format?

The game should start in the early afternoon (definitely before 2pm when tables run out and probably at about noon) and go into the evening. Yesterday, it went past midnight.

There hasn't been any talk about changing razz (to 2-7 or anything else).

I've already advised against changing the format of the game once it gets going successfully. Changing the stakes or game formats will make it something unpredictable each day.

are the stud games not mostly composed of crushers and experts during the world series?

i have scant, little experience in WSOP cash games (think i played plo8 only, ever?)

If it goes successfully, there's no reason to change anything. I was just thinking ahead in case it didn't. If too many locals play, they'll want low antes so they can sit and farm.

Any chance of the same mix going off lower, like 20/40? Or if you don’t want to compete with the 40/80 then 10/20 or 15/30? I want to play but 40/80 too high for me.

I'm skeptical, especially since the Bellagio will have all tables full during the WSOP.

Also what is the ante and bring in and rake for this game?

That's the game. It's always had razz since it started running last Thursday (and everyday since). I've asked the floor to get razz in the game's name.

Ante is $10. Bring-in is $10.

I went by the Bell this afternoon and they had a full table with 18 people on the list. Most of the players were old people over 30. I'd say this game has a future.

Gotta love "old people" being over 30. I would think most are double old people - over 60

I'm a little late to this party but I put in a couple of sessions at this game when I was in Vegas in June, at 52 I was the youngest by at least 10 years most of the time. This game was relatively soft in comparison with the 40/80 LHE games. I earned the wrath of the old lady in the game when my quad Ks beat her quad 5s in a 3-way stud8 hand. I started rolled up, she paired her door 5 on 4th and we got 5 bets in, she caught case 5 on 5th and I nearly puked on the table, caught case K on 7th and low draw missed. She just called the 4th bet, saving herself 2 big bets...

I also played some stud8 at King's Lounge, this was mostly a tougher game but there were a few spots. I hope this stud mix becomes a regular thing at B since I'd much rather play there than Rio, plus I have other options (mixed and LHE).

The game ran most days until about the start of the Main Event. Then, it just never seemed to get started before all the tables in the Bellagio filled up.

There was a large amount of regulars playing every day (or on the waiting list). In addition, other mid- and higher-stakes players would sit in the game while waiting for their regular game (40-80 lhe, 40-80 or 8-160 mixed, etc.).

I think this could definitely go next year as well.

Game was great, reliable action. Ran daily, usually with a list, and attracted casual players from all other games in the room. Saved my summer.

I only played it once, but thought it was a great game. Hope it goes every WSOP.

I thought about playing some stud8 at the rio, but they couldn't be bothered to put me on the list. I may have caught them on the wrong bounce, but the place gives me the creeps.

The way the King's cash game lounge was set up this year was awful. Couldn't scout a game, couldn't socialize with players, couldn't sit in the lounge part... just stupid. I get that they want it to be a bit of a refuge but they made it difficult to play in any of those games unless you were a starter or happened to be walking by there the moment your name hit the list.

I'd been playing that stud8 game since it was down town. I'm not sure how the Rio managed to ruin it, but they did.

But to be fair, the WSOP gives a lot of dealers and floors their first opportunity to have a job, as well as their first opportunity to be around poker. So there's that.

Multiple people told me to stay away from this 40/80 B mix because of collision concerns. Does anyone think those were founded?

There were quite a few friendly pals playing in the game but it seemed social rather than business, and if they were doing any colluding it was ineffective.

I know this is the complete opposite spectrum but does anyone play the Stud and Stud/8 low limit games at Sam's Town and Red Rock? Do you know what days and times those usually run? Is there any other rooms in the rotation for these low limit stud games? Also is that Sam's game a $2-$10 spread game?

I'm just looking for some low limit stud games to get my feet wet. Haven't played in years.
