20-40 Stud Hi Live - 4íth street situation

Foxwoods

A bit of context. Really good game, but I have been taking some nasty bad beats. One of those days, where premium hands like being rolled are losing over and over again. The reason I mention this, is that I notice in spots like this, other players are more likely to take you on.

Villain is new, but strikes me as loose, and not very solid.

Bring in, is to my immediate left. I have 8Q8. 8’s are live. Two limpers to me, including villain with a Q door. No other queens are out. I limp in, and close the betting.

I pair my door and double bet. Other limper folds. Villain raises me, I raise him back, and he re-raises.

What is my play?

Am I missing something? Do his cards not matter at all in this spot?

His fourth street card was an unsuited Ten. Also note that my post said his door was a Queen.

Don’t fold. I’d rather raise or fold 3rd

I might be a little looser than most, but I'm thinking you should be at least calling down. If they are loose and not solid, you have to think that they would've raised the pocket 10's on third and likely caught a pair of tens on 4th. Even if they have an open ender or a three flush, I would still be calling them down hoping to fill up and keeping an eye on the texture of the later streets. The worst that is going to happen is that you lose $80-120 (depending if you call 7th or not). Before calling his last raise on 4th street, there is...$313 in the pot? Call the $40 and proceed cautiously trying to fill up.

I hate completing third. The pot is gonna be multiway going to 4th no matter what you do so it's a nice time to limp and then use the small pot to your advantage on 4 (and maybe 5) and get the pot HU/win it. Agree with never folding 4th (or any future street, probably)

Limp is fine, each hand is ambiguous to the other player on 4th but at these limits you see odd slow-plays with (AQ)Q, (AA)Q (KK)Q etc so there is enough you beat that you should never fold, and villain can easily be repping so as to get a free look at a card later if he retains position with say an open-ender three-flush.

I get to showdown and c/r if I fill, lead river if villain takes a free card later.

In my experience with this game, those big pairs you mentioned are almost always an automatic complete/raise on 3rd street. People generally play the way they should.

How did he play his draws up to this point? I would work with this hand by putting him on a range og QTQT, TTQT and OESD. I dont put him on too many slowplays on 3rd since he is not likely to have position on 4th and wont be able to push there.

I really don't see this many raises with a draw...right? And I really think wired Tens would be a raise on third - especially if he is loose and this is Foxwoods. I guess trip Tens are possible but I am never folding here and hoping to fill up.

He dosent play OESD with J9 (9TJQ) since we have his outs blocked. That leaves him with KJ and monsters. Pot was not raised 3rd i would probably released my hand against average opponents.

Why do they matter so much to you? Serious question.

Rolled queens. We both filled. I was virtually certain he had rolled queens. Almost folded the trip 8ís.
