One would assume as this site hints at that the Wynn Poker room is likely to be shuttered and moved to a less prominent location. Perhaps they could add more tables? Unlikely... but man cash games fill up so quickly at these smaller rooms during the WSOP...

Comps were lowered to $1.50 an hour recently.

Seems standard given that the rake hasn't gone up in a decade. I saw that Venetian cut theirs to a dollar and the comps now expire within a year.

For those that say tldr; seems like the poker room closing might have to do with Wynn creating a new entrance and street bridge connecting to the new Alon and Resort World properties that will be coming online in the next few years.

But comps at several other places have increased in the last few years. Even the Wynn went from $1 to $3 an hour at one point before settling at $2.

Times have changed, Wynn and Sands are in financial trouble and have to tighten the books across the board. Which is kinda funny, because at least for Wynn their Vegas properties are actually doing quite well. Blame China.

Does anyone know how big or small the new poker room @ Encore is going to be? Would be a disappointment if it offers fewer tables than the old Wynn room.

Rumor has it the room will be larger to accommodate for the larger wynn classic tournaments they run. Currently when those run, they are held in the Encore separate from the main room.

Just FYI, played there this morning and no dealers or mgmt staff had no idea when or if they are going to move. Most dealers think it's a rumor and have no idea

Aren't most dealers pretty clueless in general? My buddy practically lives in the Wynn poker room and confirmed to me last week that the room is moving.

Apparently the location of the new room Society Cafe doesn't close until December. So it obviously can't move until that area is cleaned out. Was under the impression it was moving in December.

A few additional tables would be nice, especially for when the WSOP is in town and everything is at capacity. (Hate playing cash at the Rio)

Except for maybe less convenience for those who like to self park, this sounds like a pretty positive development!

Nice to see they are adding tables rather than making it smaller.

not sure why the comps go down. isn't it all a write-off for the casino?

I don't think you know what write-off means.

Rake hasn't gone up for most tables in a decade. Costs have. (Also take a look at Wynn's 2 year stock performance)

But they do. And they're the ones writing it off.

Hopefully they won't raise the rake so they can improve the poker room experience.

Why raise the rake when parking will soon enough cost $15?

I think Wynn would be wise NOT to charge for parking and maybe get some of the MGM properties' traffic. I for one will not be paying for parking at Aria if they don't comp/validate for players. Also the traffic will be horrendous around that part of the Strip with the new arena. I like Aria, but this new parking fee is a TERRIBLE idea (especially for locals).

Wynn and Venetian should definitely take advantage and pull some of those players towards their dailies and series.

Maybe they can do both. Add a parking fee to improve the parking experience and then add a poker room fee to improve the poker room experience.

I can't tell if you're trying to be sarcastic or serious.
