It's been a couple of years but a manager at the front desk gave me a couple of cards for people that would shuttle to and from Gainesville. Had a nice older lady that ran me back and forth a few times. $20 each way. It was probably at the beginning of the Uber days but she was independent.

Not sure if this is who I used but found one of the cards:

Help Home Drive Safe

The # is 940-372-7285
Email is hhds2010@gmail.com

If the lady who answers sounds like she smokes a carton a day it's her. Probably from 2015 so not sure if she is still around.

I know you like TV's, but TVs are bad for the game. How many times have you guys seen this:

1. Fish plays lots of hands out of boredom. Rebuys etc.

2. Fish moves to a seat where he can clearly see a TV.

3. Fish stops playing lots of hands because he's no longer as bored.

Of course there should be a couple TVs showing sports, but otherwise electronic entertainment devices (TVs, phones, iPads, etc.) are the death of poker. In Macau phones aren't allowed on the table and I'm sure that helps the games have more action.

I've seen what you describe 0 times.

What I have seen is opponents who are more interested in the game on TV than the game in front of them. Once in a great while this slows the game down, but generally these are people I like to play with.

My experience as well. I only play on weekends during football season. Otherwise, I just play and sip coffee during the week.

Is there a group code or other code available for hotel reservations for people buying into The River? I'm hoping they have some rooms reserved for such folks...Thanks.

Probably not. And no discounts either.

How often do they check for ID here?

I'm heading to Dallas next weekend, where should I play low limit nl cash--Winstar or Choctaw?

Seems Winstar always has a ton more tables going on Bravo, but the WSOPC is in Durant. I keep checking Bravo and Winstar still has more tables. Why's Winstar the place to play cash poker?

During tournament series Choctaw runs more tables than usual and attracts players you don't often see at either room (people traveling the circuit and/or players from the region who only play during series). You play in a big event center room with slow service. Dealing is actually better than average as the traveling dealers are more experienced.

Winstar has better service, and a slow Saturday there has probably the same or more low stakes tables than Durant during the series. That combined with the sometimes nitty nature of tournament players at cash tables and I'd say advantage Winstar. If you've never played there note that 1-3 is better action by far than 1-2.

I'd go to Winstar too. Every time I've been to Choctaw during wsop the wait to get on a cash table has been very long. It's been a long time since I've been to Choctaw though so they may have solved that.

Hello Windstar crowd. Does anyone know if they still charge commission on pit games. I've been considering going there for a while, and this is probably the only think that's preventing me from making a trip.

Yes they do. They will continue to charge commission as long as all that Dallas money continues to flock in and fill every seat. Been going strong for over a decade and shows no signs of letting up.

Its not "commission". Its a fee paid to the State which was agreed upon years ago in the deal that allowed table games in the first place. IIRC, the fee goes to the State education fund.

It has nothing to do with money flocking in from Dallas. They will continue to charge the fee unless the State changes the law and I doubt that will happen. They have no reason to change it.

There are certain "ante free" times but Winstar is still paying the fee to the State, they are just paying it for the player during non peak times when they want to drive traffic.

None of that is true. It is not a "fee". It is an income tax. Casinos pay a 10% tax on the monthly net win on table games. Period. There is nothing in State law that specifies a per hand ante. They pay income tax much like every other business in the State. The law isn't counting the number of hands dealt.

They could do away with "antes" entirely and simply charge a 10% "sales tax" when you purchase chips if they wanted. Or they could do like most other enterprises do when it comes to paying taxes and take 10% of their revenue and pay the State and operate on the other 90%.

The reason the casinos charge a per hand "ante" is because people have swallowed this tale you are telling about "the law requiring it" and the players continue to plunk down an ante every hand they play (unless, as you point out, the casino feels it is in their best interest at certain times to not directly charge the players). Do you think the "law" has provisions for this not charging an ante sometimes? Like a special section in the regulations that say it is okay to not charge this "required" ante on Tuesday afternoons or something?

As soon as Texans and Okies, and where ever the rest of the player's money comes from, decide they don't want to get charged this ante and stop playing, the casino will figure out some other method of making money to pay their income tax.

As I pointed out, the Dallas money seems content on paying the Casino's income tax for them directly on top of the gaming revenue they produce for the Casino.

Read for yourself. Scroll down to the "Oklahoma gambling laws" section

"Slots, video poker, live poker and electronic table games are allowed, and table games must include player pools. This means players must post an ante where the funds go towards some other outcome. Some casinos in Oklahoma eat these fees but in exchange offer terrible rules"

I dont see what the difference is why they charge the ante. Whether its a law or their way of making extra money to pay their taxes.....dont friggin play BJ at Winstar. Casinos can make the stack the odds against you anyway they want to. If they want to pay out even money on BJ they can do that. If you dont like it, DONT PLAY!

Your mis-information source that you quoted even directly contradicts itself:

"This means players must post an ante where the funds go towards some other outcome. Some casinos in Oklahoma eat these fees but in exchange offer terrible rules"

Wait. Players must post an ante but some casinos eat these fees, what? So some casinos obey some mythical law about antes and others don't. I guess the law says they have to offer terrible rules if they operate illegally.

Instead of going to "onlineunitedstatescasino" spam sites, search every ".gov" website. Find the word "ante" or find any Oklahoma State Law or Regulation (it's the law, damn it, it has to be public information) Search all the state statutes and find any reference to a per hand fee. Good luck.

I see we agree. If the player pool decides they won't play if they have to pay an ante - guess what - the casinos will stop charging an ante. I guess "the law" will magically change.

Thanks for the replies, and I didn't mean to start a huge debate. One more question. Does anyone know if it's a certain amount straight across the board per bet, or is it a percentage depending on the amount of the bet?

Show me the Oklahoma State Regulation, Law, or Statute that says they are required to charge a per hand ante. I'll read it and even translate it into Okie for ya.

I think it's 50 cents per hand, higher stakes tables its 1 per hand regardless of bet size. I haven't been in awhile fyi
