I will be at Winstar this Thurs (Apr. 5) in the morning and afternoon. Hopefully, we'll get a $5/$10 NLHE game going while I'm there. $2/$5 would be fun, but I would MUCH prefer the $5/$10 game if possible.

Don't know how the thursday before easter weekend usually is, but I'm assuming it's busier than normal. I'd be pretty shocked if there wasn't a 5/10 thursday evening/night.

I figured the same thing, but I have to lave by 5pm or so...hoping to convince the $2/$5 crowd to loosen up and open a $5/$10 table in the high limits room. We shall see what happens.

May be up there around the same time tomorrow.

Not rolled for 5/10 but If I'm there I will be at 2/5 with a black and white Bobcat hat on.

Are you sure we are talking about the same guy?
The guy called himself Vishul - believed he is the best player and felt he can outplay anyone postflop irrespective of the **** he played.

He also claimed he is big winner even though I saw him lose many buyins.

I played this game again and with same people playing the game (both regulars and live ones) I feel it is easier to make reads and play well. I got into some big pots with asiian Bobby but lost a big where I was 3:1 favorite on flop. I got some back and finished even.

^ Pretty sure I played with this kid at hold 'em. He definitely has a lot of talent but his hold 'em reads were pretty weak. He also seems to have delusions of grandeur, saying that he would play anyone in the world heads up (Omaha Hi/Lo) except maybe Asian Bobby. I was fascinated to find out that the two best Omaha Hi/Lo players in the world happen to be Winstar regulars.

BTW, for what it's worth, he claimed to me that he is a losing player overall.

I'm the great player of which you speak. People say a lot of things when playing poker and it is not to be taken literally.

I play poker because I enjoy it immensely and would I play poker with anyone heads up? Heck yes! Do I think I would win against anyone in the world? No not at all but I'm going to put up a fight and enjoy every minute of it win or lose.

Also, yes I'm a HUGE loser in poker so I'm not sure why Rambling Wreck mistakenly thought I claimed in any way that I have won money in the long term. I got no qualms about admitting that I lose lots of money. Have I made a lot of money in short spurts? Absolutely. Does this make me a good poker player? Absolutely not but I would still play anyone in the world in this amazing game

I admit I enjoy playing it with you heads up in a few pots, but with the full ring table, i find it not profitable when calling the pot bet preflop 5+ handed and basically see who's gonna get lucky. If you're in Dallas, maybe I can get a heads up game 2/5 or 5/10 PLO8 going. LMK

I like your view on playing!! Not everyone can be "one of the best"... might as well have fun playing no matter what.... especially if you can afford to be a loosing player. lol I don't play nearly as much anymore because I cant afford loosing as much anymore. I spent 7 hrs playing yesterday, was down $1300 at one point playing 2/5... and ended the day only $145 up. I was greatful to be up... but it took all day to come back, and if I hadn't come back, it would have been the last time that I played for like 6 more months. Ah, if only I had tons of "free money". lol

Haha I don't have tons of "free money". I consider poker to be a source of entertainment and just like others would be willing to spend a little extra money on alcohol, cars, other material things and sources of entertainment, I spend my money on poker

Wow, you have good attitude and a refreshing positive outlook.
I guess I misunderstood your attitude based on stuff you say on table.
I go to admit when playing with you is fun and scary at same time.
Well I guess old nits like me need to buckle up and ride the roller coaster.

I am glad the thread has come to life.
Who should we talk about next to keep this thread going?

Just to keep things going - who is the best tournament player that plays at Winstar regularly?

Nice comeback. I would have quit being 1k in the hole but chips go fast in 2/5.

I must admit, normally I would have quit after loosing my first reload (400 intial / then another 400). However, I had only been there about an hour and a half and had not played since January. So, I didn't want my "fun" to end so quickly with a long ride back home.

Also, I knew that I wasn't really playing THAT bad... it was just the turn of things. So, I thought to myself: "I'll reload one more time and be done". Famous last words though because about the time that I lost that 2nd reload, I felt the tide turning. So, I decided on one more final chance to make some of it back. Glad I did that 3rd reload or I would have had a big loss for the day.

Besides, when I used to play 5/10, I often lost my initial buy in of $1000 only to reload once and come back and double my money - ending up with $1k profit. So, I rationalize to myself that I wasn't down much more than my inital buyin back when I used to play 5/10. (silly rationalization though)
Note: I quit 5/10 and moved to 2/5 since I only made those "comebacks" about 50% of the time. It's easier to absorb an $800 a session losss (at 2/5) than $2k per session loss (at 5/10). lol

Ok, I'm being transferred into the area. I am a frequent player/two plus two contributor. I've been told to find a house in Dallas/Oklahoma City airports or somewhere in between. I don't much care for the Oklahoma state income tax of 5.5% and have been thinking about areas north of Dallas which are close to Winstar. I'm looking for a nice area, prefer to rent a year and since I have a dog, maybe a townhouse..... I gave up lawn maintenance years ago. As I don't know the area at all, can anyone recommend somewhere/city/town no further than one hour from a poker room? Townhouse preferred. Rent as high as......$1300.00

McKinney is nice and a one hour drive from Winstar and a one hour drive from Choctaw. It's the top end of the DFW area which is populated. North of it is basically smaller towns and open areas.

Denton is a nice area and 35 minutes from Winstar, but 1 hour 20 minutes from Choctaw.

McKinney and Denton are both a 40 minute drive from both DFW Airport.

You mentioned airports. Will you be traveling for work alot? i.e. Is it more important to live closer to the airport or to poker? If you need to live closer to the airport, there are MANY cities within a 1hr drive of Winstar and 1-1.5hr from Choctaw that are MUCH closer to the Dallas Love Field or Dallas/Forth Worth International airport than say Denton or McKinney. So, I think it really mattters what you preference is in this regard.

Feel free to IM me if you want to discuss more.
