You should enjoy it. Despite being a dumpy truck stop a little over 10 years ago, I would say the poker room matches up well with pretty much any but the nicest rooms in the country.

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on I35 in Gainesville before. It was $100 for the night without an advance reservation. It's not fancy, but was definitely clean and comfortable. And for context, I have significant back problems, and usually have problems in hotel beds. I did not have any pain with their bed.

Good luck on your visit!

Hey guys, I searched several pages in this thread and saw no mention of limit hold 'em, so I have a couple questions about WinStar/Choctaw:

1. How many limit hold 'em games run at these casinos?
2. How high are the stakes?
3. How soft are the games?

Thanks!

Just read more posts. Looks like only a few tables of 4/8 were running a few months ago. I don't suppose anything has changed, huh? Bogus...

They have been running some 6/12 lately.

I try to start a 10/20L interest list whenever i go on busy weekends, but it never goes. 4/8 is the only limit I've ever seen (few 10/20 games when they tried the feature game thing). They used to get a 4/8 w kill, but haven't seen it in a long time.

Do they still have a few O/8 games going on the weekends? I'm gonna be heading down that way soon (from KS) and like the break from the no foldem games. I know from UG 5/10 is your game, but I almost went crazy the last time I was there on a Sat night, it was maddening sitting there at the 1/2 tables enduring maniacs from dallas opening for 20!!! With a stunningly wide range mind you. It's not so bad when you wake up with a hand, and I won't bore you with the bad beats that ensued after trying to play back at the maniacs like that.

Just for a chuckle, my cousin accidentally tipped the crazy best western shuttle driver $100. Thought he gave him a dollar bill. Made me feel slightly better about my misfortune.

They have not refused, it is being considered. There are some server issues as I understand it.

Do you go to Potowatomi in Milwaukee? Every night I was there recently, it seems they had a mix game going IIRC...

How are the games here during the week? In Fort Worth for work and trying to decide between here and Choctaw for tonight - thanks.

Choctaw is a much longer drive from Ft. Worth. Games are great pretty much anytime. Winstar should be fine.

Depends what game you want to play. If it's NL holdem they always have 1/2 and 2/5nl running.

Has anyone noticed the group of young guys that hang out together? They are noticeable by the hoodies they usually wear, the backpacks they carry, and the fact that they bounce around from table to table. They usually only play on a table for about an hour or so and spend almost as much time talking with each other as they do playing poker.

I'm trying to figure out if these guys are playing poker for a living. I play 2 or 3 Saturdays per month and these guys are always there. I understand table selection but I cannot understand these guys moving tables so often. One of them sat and played at my table 4 different times this past Saturday. I just can't see any advantage in doing this but I sure do enjoy taking their money.

One more point. Some of them need to rethink their etiquette. I have routinely seen them criticize the drunks/fish after taking bad beats, to the point of running them off. I'm never the best player at the table but even I can recognize this.

I think I know who you're referring to. They typically wear back packs, play until the win anywhere from half a buy in to a full one, get up and leave. They hang out for a little bit, and then sit down again with 100bb.

They're punks/posers that think they know what they're doing. If they did, they'd be sitting at 2/5 or 5/10. And they do berate players when they stack off, but they never show their cards.

I think it's usually a guy and his brother/friend, but it's never more than 2 of them. Right?

If they are bouncing from table to table at 1/2 and are getting stacked off I'm sure they aren't playing for a living. They may think they can make money by changing tables to take money off the table but that is borderline ******ed.

Btw, the vast majority of the young regulars are quite respectful. I don't know who these guys are.
