Re: Winstar World Casino (Thackerville, OK)

Any suggestions on a decent motel that is 10-15 minutes from the casino that I can walk-in and pay around $50-$60?

I don't consider internet poker real poker. IMO it's just a video game.

Re: Winstar World Casino (Thackerville, OK)

First of all, for the one or two people who may care, Winstar changed their BBJ to Quads or better.

Second of all, interesting hand/floor call.

2/5, pot is HU on the river with board of Jd10h7d4d4h. Pot is at ~$300, player A is thinking, player B thinks player A checks (player A hadn't said anything,) player B puts $60 CLEARLY over the line and is about to put it down when player A says "All in." Debate ensues about whether or not the $60 has to stay in or not. Some says that the action changed to player B, so he should get to take the $60 out, others say that there was no action, so action couldn't have changed, which means leave the money in

Floor rules that the $60 has to stay in. Standard ruling?

Yeah that is standard. When a player acts out of turn, IF the action changes then he can take his bet back. If you were to bet $60 then he would have had to keep the $60 in play. I know it sucks but that's why Hold'em is a game of information and of acting in turn. You would not have shoved if you would have never seen the $60 out of turn raise and the out of turn player would never have bet $60 unless they thought they saw you check.

Re: Winstar World Casino (Thackerville, OK)

I was also @ Winstar yesterday and I must say that the $1/$2 games are a total freaking joke. There is very little 'thinking' poker going on and so it was all just basically 'showdown' poker all day long. Especially with the new badbeat jackpot rules everyone kept trying to hit it so they would just call pre-flop with KK and try to hit quads? What a joke. I had a set of 444's in a pot where I got in for a min-raise of $4???????? And lost to KKK. Dude hit his set of K on the flop and did not even bet it into 5 players? We all checked and of course I have to hit my 4 on the turn?

HOW do you raise to $4 with KK???????????????????????????????????

Horrible. WTF is the point in even playing poker if you are going to play that badly?

Re: Winstar World Casino (Thackerville, OK)

There was also this old lady there that looked like a school teacher who was playing ABC poker and only bet when she hit the flop hard. It did not matter what hand she played, it always hit. Q3 would hit trip 333's and A2 would hit 2 pair. All day long. She was up to around $600+ when I left.

So, you are pretty much saying that when you are game selecting, you pretty much avoid fish and prefer to play against. tougher compettion?

Can you not use their (bad beat fishers and little old lady rocks) bad play to your advantage? Play much poker? You might be doing it wrong..

This is Texas/OU weekend as well as the state fair and Rangers playoff game and Dallas Stars home opener so the casino was pretty dead. I had no other tables to choose from and it was my only day I could play as I don't live just right down the street.

But pretty much, all of the $1/$2 tables @ Winstar are like this. The game of poker has been ruined with all of the training and mental edges over the years. There are no more fish.

Hindsight is 20/20 but no one ever expects a $1/$2 table to be full of nits.

Based on your last few posts, if you are playing in hopes of winning money, you may want to find a new hobby

Player B should be allowed to take back bet unless Player A said he checked initially in which case the bet stands.

+1. Bad call IMO (if we have been given all/correct info).

From RRoP (interpret it as you will):
10.Deliberately acting out of turn will not be tolerated. A player who checks out of turn may not bet or raise on the next turn to act. An action or verbal declaration out of turn may be ruled binding if there is no bet, call, or raise by an intervening player acting after the infraction has been committed. A player who has called out of turn may not change his wager to a raise under any circumstances.

The quality of this thread has gone very south since you've started posting. Please start a Goals&Challenges thread and keep your BBV in BBV.

Re: Winstar World Casino (Thackerville, OK)

Choctaw recently changed to "no flop no drop" (on 2/5 and higher I believe). This is huge for grinders like me. Every time you steal the blinds, you get $7 instead of $6, and even if it goes: $20, 3bet $70, all-in $300, everyone folds, there's no rake. I think this could easily add $5 an hour to any competent player. Problem is, choctaw rarely has good 2/5 games.

Anyway, I'm posting this here because it would awesome if we could somehow convince winstar to do this as well. Or at least, no flop no rake as I doubt they'll ever change grabbing the "jackpot" dollar before the cards are even dealt.

I'm not even sure the exact policy right now on a situation like above? Dealer-guy? If it goes $20, $70, all-in $300, and everyone else folds is it $5 rake?

Dealer-guy, is there a greater than 0% chance of ever getting something like this changed?

Did Choctaw switch to 1/3 or are they still doing 1/2 $300 max for their smallest NL game?

they have both, but the 1/3 has kinda died. 1/2 buy-in is 100-300. 1/3 is 100-400

I didn't say 1/2 games, I said "games".

However, there were at least 8 1/2 games going.

Action out of turn is binding unless the action changes. In this case the action changed so player B should have the option of either calling the entire bet or nothing IMO.

Now if player bet 60 out of turn and player a then check raised. then the money stays in.

Interestin that winstar changed there jackpot. Have they published how it is funded?

If they continue to fund it the same way as before then the rake just went up at Winstar.
