When I used to drive from the Dallas area, there was north bound traffic at 3:30 pm on I-35 where it meets I-90, (George Bush). It was busy enough that it took an extra 30 minutes to get to Denton from I-90.

They've recently had a bunch of Riverwind dealers come down, and i've been mostly unimpressed with them.

There's only one or two "winstar" dealers that aren't very good.

If you leave any day except Friday at 330 you shouldn't hit any traffic

Same problem as the others - just loads the title and what looks like the empty white top tab of a page with nothing below it. I'd like to read it too.

I had IE9 but reverted back to IE8 and I'm running x64 Windows 7...

Edit: Reading it on my phone's browser - Samsung Charge/Driod... It is just the blank white top part of the page loading on IE now that I can see how it's supposed to look.

Today is pretty slow lol. But yeah most dealers are pretty good but there are a few who are super annoying. And one the other saturday night that refused to put any effort into filling our double when there was like 30 on the list.

What table are you at mufasa

A lot of higher games have been running lately. There's almost always a 5/10nl game going, and the last few weekends have seem some 10/25nl and 25/50nl.

Really...I haven't noticed...but as a $1/$2 grinder I don't really pay attention to the intrest/list for those games...NICE!

Do they ever spread limit games higher than 4-8?

Rarely. Occasionally on the weekend they get a 10-20 game going, but not often. They try, and a few players are interested, but it just never seems to happen.

If you try hard enough you can turn your 4-8 table into one with a half kill, but that takes a lot of work and the fish tend to stay away because they don't understand.

Cool. That's about what I thought. I haven't seen any bigger games the few times I've been there but if they could get a regular 10-20 going I'd go as much as possible.

Planning a trip to Winstar in a few weeks from Dallas. Are there any reward programs or hourly rates you can receive? I have not been there for about 3 years so just wanted to see how much has changed. Also, I plan on getting hotel room but the actual Winstar seems a little pricey, any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Get the players card, and you get $8.80 to spend on food as soon as you are seated. It resets/exptires every 8 hours.

There are a lot of hotels in Gainesville for $50-60ish a night, like the Super 8. Not nice at all, but good enough to take a nap ans shower.

Also, always try the Best Western in Thackerville (it's close to the casino and I think they send the shuttle there). Sometimes, though not always, they have rates comparable to the Super 8 and Quality Inn in Gainesville.

I just moved to the DFW area and made my first trip to the Winstar last night. I didn't do very well at the tables but thought the overall experience was a good one. The dealers, for the most part, were excellent. I had not played poker in over two months when I arrived last night, and I was so excited I proceeded to way overplay JJ on my very first hand at the table and bust... that's always embarrassing. My table actually wasn't juicy at all, seemed like mostly regulars with 2 weak spots. I probably should of requested a table change but was put off by the JJ hand and just stuck around (btw, do I need to request a table change with the dealer here or go talk the desk again? ... still new to live). I was eventually able to grind back to even on my 2nd buyin but busted that too on a poorly played AK. Overall I played bad but I will be going back tonight (hopefully with better play/results on my part!).

Had a much better trip tonight. My table was great for the most part (at one point we had a 5 way all in on the flop with multiple deep stacks that QQ won unimproved... lol). The room was absolutely packed though, I was on the wait list for an hour before getting to play. Anyone know if this is typical on Saturday night, and if so, what is the best time to show up to minimize the wait time?

The weekends of the River Megas have been more packed than normal, and the computer issues didn't help. But yeah if u show up at 6 or 7 on a Saturday you usually will have a pretty good wait.

In my experiences, an hour wait on Sat or Sun afternoons and Sat nights is not uncommon. Also, with it being the home stretch to The River, it's probably even more packed.

I was up at winstar this past weekend noticed they had a new mix game, forgot to ask them what the rotation was anyone know?

Also is the 4\8 limit holdem game worth playing there?

the 4/8 game is what i've played the most of lately. Hard to say if it's worth playing or not. I've noticed a bit more regulars that play the 4/8, and even though I only go once a month or so, I pretty much know the style of everyone at the table. Though the majority of players are straightforward, it's often a mixed bag. A lot of the regulars will call a lot of hands preflop, and only a handful like to preflop raise with marginal starting hands.
If you learn who is who it can be a great game. Last two trips I've bought in for $100, and have left the table with about $400 after about 3 hours play.
Big problem with 4-8 is that if there is a waiting list, you might as well put your name on it, go eat dinner in Gainesville as the board can be slow to move.

friday and saturdays are insane like that... its like that all day starting from about noon, so if youre referring to showing up around 7pm etc, it wont make a difference, it might be a little bit more crowded atm due to the river series having sats etc. i know the casino is fully booked for like 2 weeks because they have a lot of good concerts happening or something.

Mix game is a bit of a misnomer. Its round of PLO, round of PLO8. I played it for a bit, def was an action game when I played, guys getting allin on the flop with bottom pair and an OESD on a flush draw board, etc

Thanks. Sounds like I might tryout limit hold em next
Time. I usually play 1-2 Nl but if I was to go play limit I bet the table would stare at me and be like what?! Since I'm 21 and most guys my age don't play limit haha
