Nobody ever said she was smart after all she "pimped" for UB saying it was a great and safe place to play online until the DOJ shut them down and then they fired her and the rest of their "pros". Ask her if UB is a great online site now.

I'd recommend playing 1/2 with 100bbs.

I would suggest playing 2/5 if you are a skilled player with a decent amount of experience, the 2/5 is pretty soft down there.

Any helpful hints for a beginner as far as play goes? Even though im going forthe experience and am expecting to make a profit. Keep in mind only played online and home games but have watched tons of wsop and know a fair amount. (position, c-bet,3 bet, etc). Probably just going to be playing 1/2 NL. the whole time so hope that narrows down the field of advice giving
Here's my tips on play.

Don't try and bluff too much unless you really really think it's going to work. Idk about your home game but at winstar and other casinos people like to limp a lot, especially at 1/2. So you can play like 57s UTG and prob not have to worry about someone raising.

People also don't like to fold to 3 bets at 1/2 so I would 3 bet like TT+ and AQ at the very least.

If you have a full house because there's trips on the board like 33378 and you have a big over pair, don't be afraid to bet the absolute max you think they will call. People never fold full houses. So never bluff there either.

If you flop top pair top kicker or a set or anything good, don't try and pull a fancy play and do something silly like check behind. Just bet the whole way, they will call you.

Once in a blue moon when you're in the sb and the whole table limps in and you've got like 65s, make it like $20 on top. You'll get the whole table to fold cause they can't see the flop cheap. And if you do get like a caller or two, bet like $40 and you'll take it down.

With that same token, don't be afraid to pop it up big if you're like on the button with aces or even like UTG with aces, you can make it $12 right from UTG and still get called, or if you're on the button and there's a lot of limpers pop it up to like $16-$20.

Make sure you watch who's losing the big pots. If someone loses a big pot and he's ragging on tilt, he might straddle the next time he gets a chance. If he does, I would limp in with any big hand cause there's a very good chance he'll pop it so you can come over the top of him.

Also don't soft play anyone cause you've made buddies with them, he may not do the same for you. Even if he does, you soft playing may let him suck out on you so that would suck cause he's not allowed to give you a rebate from his chip stack.

Idk if anyone said this but if you lose your money and ask for more chips, tip the chip runner.

As far as live tells go, they vary with different people but here's a couple I've noticed especially at 1/2.

1. Let's say you raise or 3bet preflop and your head up in position and you whiff the flop. If the guy pauses for like 5 sec or so before checking to you, he probably has nothing so a cbet usually works.

2. If you're about to bet the river and as soon as you reach for chips they start picking up chips too as if to say they're gonna call you, they really are gonna call you cause they have a hand, but they really really don't want you to bet. So if you're bluffing, don't bet. But if you actually have it, throw a little more out there lol. Again this really varies from player to player but that's how it usually goes.

3. This is more of a reverse tell you can give, but if you're in a relatively big pot and you ask someone how much they have in kind of an aggressive way, they might think you're weak. This really depends on the player though.

If bigtex says it, it possibly could be true...maybe. If not he can create the evidence to make it look true.

Re: Winstar (Thackerville, OK) Poker Thread

ten percent (1 0%) of the monthly net win of the common pool(s) or pot(s) from
which prizes are paid for nonhouse-banked card games. The tribe is entitled to
keep an amount equal to state payments from the common pool(s) or pot(s) as
part of its cost of operating the games.

From the chickasaw nation tribal gaming compact. Page 34 covers the fees charged by the state. it does not specify how the fees should be collected. It seems to be intentionaly vague. Note there is no mention of an ante to be collected at any time.
The fact the chicasaw claims that the dollar dropped in a seperate slot is an ante as opossed to the industry standered BBJ is basically just a back door way to rack 6$ at a percentage higher then 10%. The best way to look at is it's a 5 dollar 10% rack with a dollar fee charged an addition for every hand delt. In return there is a mysteriously funded BBJ plus some monday thru Thursday promotions as well a really cool annual tournamnet every year. IDK.

If you want to read the compact i posted a link below.

No wonder the above makes no sense. I'm afraid of nothing, but neither do I have an ego the size of Alaska unlike someone else.

Do I know who you are? Maybe and if I'm right, I could not care less.

But I can say that you get treated as well as any other player in the room by me anyways.

Another difference between us.

Re: Winstar (Thackerville, OK) Poker Thread

This needs to be addressed:

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...&postcount=405

If you're going to run a huge tournament, you can't have floor calls like this, ever. Floors that attempt to read intention as a first, but not last resort when making a ruling need to be given a new job, as they shouldn't be a floor. This is pretty egregious imo, even if the other guy intended to call, that's not the floor's job when interpreting a rule. Other online guys like me are going to click it back with people sometimes and we're going to size it similarly.

You just run into a large trap when trying to interpret a rule because you're trying to be nice to one party.

Its night and day.. from thurs- sunday day and sunday night to thursday day..

During the week, alot of of regs, but thats not always a bad thing because even some of the regs. are horrible. they call limp and play way too many pots out of position and get in trouble with two pair hands etc..

I like the weekends personally, but during the week they run promotions, aces cracked on tues and thursday and splash pot mon and weds..

Re: Winstar (Thackerville, OK) Poker Thread

I just finished up my first 300 hours since switching from online to Winstar as a full time pro. It was either move to Canada or give Winstar a try. If anyone is interested in my results/thoughts, you can find my blog here.

Re: Winstar (Thackerville, OK) Poker Thread

yeah gl! I'm also an ex 24 tabler tying to decide between canada or playing live. Going to put in 200 hours this month and decide after that.

Though I know that 200 hours (bout 5500 hands lol) will do nothing in helping me determine my true live WR, the real experiment for me is to see if I can handle the grind of playing 25 hands/hr and driving to Oklahoma 4 times a week.

Going to Canada would obv be more profitable for me, but leaving home would suck for obvious reasons.

Re: Winstar (Thackerville, OK) Poker Thread

I've been playing up here on the week nights and the action is pretty good. Lots of 1/2, a few 2/5 and a 5/10 now and then. Players seem recreational compared to Choctaw which has more regulars.

One thing I did notice is that some of the dealers are really good (love Johnny), but some are really bad. Last night I had a dealer who kept asking where the button should be because he wasn't paying any attention to the game at all. He asked three times in just one orbit alone. He would constantly stare off into space and we would wait for him.

I also had another dealer refuse to show cards a person showed to another person at the table. The dealer had the cards in his hand and was about to push them into the muck. Someone asked to see them since the player mucking showed to his neighbors. The dealer refused and said it was close to mucking when he asked so he choose to muck. Then the dealer said he prefers to muck instead of showing because he gets in less trouble when he doesn't show. WTF?
