Not trying to brag but I've heard nothing but compliments about my play style while playing 1/2 in Vegas. Most ppl I meet from N. TX are shocked to hear I don't play at Winstar and say I should.

I hear Winstar is super soft. How soft is 1/2 and how does it normally play. I'm a decent player but I really think my success in Vegas is bc I stick to tourist traps (planet hollywood, ballys, mgm grand) and I hit the tables fully alert and sober when the drunks come to play after 8pm.

How's the 1/2action at Winstar om fri/sat nights. What can a decent player expect to bring home playing solid ABC for five hours on a fri/sat night at 1/2.

And i know it varies so i'm just asking generally. I know abc isn't always the right approach as poker is about people. I guess my main concern is its winstar. Can it be that popular that people from the dfw metro are driving up there to gamble. Ive been here for 10 years and only been once bc someone visiting from out of town wanted to play slots. That was b4 my poker playin days
It's soft. I play a lag style which took me a while to be able to figure out playing 1/2 as usually playing tighter than a gnats ass is the way to go, but the players are so horrid post flop that seeing flops with hands like 8To in position is very profitable. It should be noted though that playing this way is higher variance though I believe more profitable there.

Over Christmas break I put in about 90-100 hours of 1/2 and showed a profit of $3300. It's absolutely worth the trip if you're a decent player.

Play tends to go as follows:
6 people limp, I raise 10x on the button and get 5 callers. Board comes Axx rainbow. I bet three streets with AK and get called down by A8o. Easy game.

Very loose passive and people love paying too much to draw.

Good luck and see you at the tables.

Thanks for the advice. See you there! Do you go on weekends and weekdays. I'm sure holiday breaks are great times to go. What about what another poster said. Are you there during the day or at night time.

Lots of it. All day every day. All weak passive stations at 1/2, 1/3 contains more bad aggressive stations. Free money all around.

Anyone know if there's gonna be a Memorial Day mini river series this year?? And has anyone been to a Sunday daily tournament at winstar lately? Wondering what the turn out has been for those.

It's too far away. I went to Tears for Fears last year and was in the middle of section a and it was pretty decent. I just bought tickets again for their show in July and for only 10 bucks more I'm in the VIP section

They have always done a Memorial day mini, so I think the odds are good.

The Sunday is a $230 buyin ($100 bounty). It usually gets between 60 and 90 runners. The level of play is comically bad at times, due to the bounty confusing people (on more than one occasion, I saw someone call down three streets of action with no better than J high, no pair, and no real draw).

The link won't open for me. I see on another site they have an 1100 main. Do you know if they run satellites for it?

Love the room but have a semi-complaint. My table was super nitty so i requested a table change. I was in for $200 and ran it up to $600 or so and they wouldn't let me have my $600 stack at my new table. I could only have $200. Is this standard or a room specific thing. I used to do it all the time in Biloxi, but that game was uncapped.

Standard. You can't move tables voluntarily with more than the max buy or less than the min buy. You're essentially buying into a new table. Similarly, if you have 200 on a 1/2 table and ask for a table change, you can put 100 in your pocket and only come in for 100.

They encourage ratholing its pretty sad. You can watch the same regs everyday double up and as soon as they do they request a table change so they can go back down to 1 buyin.

Most of these rooms don't have a capped buy in though. The reason they do it at Winstar is so a person can't play all day and build a huge stack and then switch to a newly formed table where everyone can only have 100 BB. If they changed the rule to where you can buy in 70% of big stack or whatever then it would fix this problem.

Does anybody know the older guy with the beard and hat, that looks like the fisherman Bill Dance except with facial hair, and always gnawin' on a toothpick? So that guy is at Winstar every single time I go up there, and I mean every time. I'm from DFW and have to make the trek north but I see his face each time. I've probably been 30-40 times and sure enough, there's ole 'Pick, flipping that toothpick around his mouth at the poker table.

Is he a 2/5 player? Pretty good player, especially given the stereotype of his appearance? If so I know who he is. Pretty solid.

I may have only played at his table a time or two. He is difficult to read and seems to be pretty good.

Do they spread 5/10 regularly? What's the cap on 2/5?
