Fairly certain all new stuff takes effect first of the year. I'm not sure there will actually be regular Friday/Sat/Sun tourney this week but if so, should be old schedule/structure.

Anyone sufficiently close to the casino to comment on the road conditions, particularly on I35 coming up from the south? The weather forecast made that look scary last night.

What would be an optimal time to get to Winstar tomorrow (Friday) for some 1-2, ie early enough to not be on the 50 man waitlist I noticed on Bravo last weekend but late enough to sit with some of the weekend touristy types and not a table full of regs.

4-5 pm?

TIA

Excited for the new updates that were made to the tournament schedule. Looking forward to playing them. Anyone play the Weekend tournaments yet and want to post total entries and elapsed time I would appreciate it.

Headed to Winstar for the first time ever (I insisted to my fiance that we stop and play for a few hours on a road trip from Tulsa to Dallas). Anything in particular I should know about the games there? Mainly specific to 1/2, 2/5.

Pros, cons, miscellaneous... Thanks!

Pro's - everything. One of the best poker rooms in the south imo. If I lived closer k would be here every weekend. I would assume this is the best place to make the transition from 1/3 to 2/5.
Con's - ?

Cons staying on site is very costly and 100bb capped NL games

very easy games though up to 2/5 -there are a few other hotels within 8miles that are cheaper

Those are pros I was giving the very few cons I don't like about the room

major cons to me:

$1 drop before cards are dealt

chairs are awful

room is getting pretty old and dirty (carpet, felt, chips)

Con's:

the $1 drop pre flop is probably the worst of all

if you are staying at the hotel, its literally close to a mile walk through smokey casino floor

I generally like the dealers but they can be a little too chatty with regs in the middle of hands

I have sprint and get really bad cellphone reception

No power plugs at tables

No calling in to get on wait list

Pro's

Always a pretty busy room, specially on weekends/holidays/during the river series

Pretty liberal with food comps for players

Poker parking right out side the room

Wifi in the poker room, never had any issues with it

Plenty of nice sized TV screens

Fountain drinks in the poker room, can get a drink during setup change without missing any hands

2 different restrooms in poker room it self

pretty far away from any smoking area's so it smells ok in poker room

18+ casino so you can get some younger players in the games during peak hours a lot of the time

even though there are a lot of regs, all the low level stuff is pretty easy from 4/8 limit through 1/2 1/3 and 2/5

This could be a con for some, but they have a BBJP currently at like 45k- any quads beat- both cards must play and quads has to be pocket pair

The daily turny's get a nice turnout if you happen to get lucky

Room is not that old 6-7 years? I remember playing in the old room and Ive lived in Dallas for like 8 years- current poker room is not that old. I know they put felts down with River series ad's leading up to the series- so I assume they are getting changed at lest once or twice a year?

They do change the felts somewhat regularly at odd hours. They don't seem to clean the chips or the carpet though. And the chairs are bad.

Chips are really bad- and I'm sure better chairs are out there, but I've never played in any room and thought the chairs to be comfortable.

Been there a few times, do not remember anything specific about the chairs. It's too bad they do not get much regular traffic I like the casino alot more than Winstar.

tournaments or cash at choctaw? find it hard to believe you wouldn't notice the nice chairs in the main/cash room
