The 'cities' you've listed are actually areas of the casino floor, and as of recently there wasn't any construction going on with any of that.

They just opened their second hotel on the property. If you do not want to stay at the casino you can find some hotels in Gainsville about 20mins south on I35.

The Friday and Sunday tournaments, have a decent structure & decent turnout.
They don't run a tourney on Saturday.
The Mon-Thurs tourneys, are like most daily tourneys, 40-80 runners, pretty turbo structure.

The cash games on the weekends are great.

Thanks - that's useful info. 40-80 players even on Mon-Thu is very great indeed. I should probably target both Friday/Sunday tourneys and will try to play some cash games on rest of the days.

Don't know about any discounts, comps are pretty lame unless you play a whole bunch in the casino.

However, they did just open another giant hotel, so they may have a hard time filling it at first, I guess you'll just have to check.

Gainesville is only 10 minutes away. Lots of cheaper/decent places if you're staying by yourself and have a car.

May drop by for a day or 2 two around thanksgiving. Is there any chance of a bigger fixed limit game running, say 30-60+ (holdem, o8, mix or whatever)? Or if anyone would be interested in starting one I'd be happy to.

When I go to Winstar I always play NLHE. I'm curious about the 4-8 Limit Hold'em. What are the min/max buy-ins for that game?

Probably less than 1% chance you get that game to run.

I think min is $40 and max is whatever you've got.

How do the NL games fair on a weekday like thursday? Plan on only being there 1 day.

Thursday is when games really start to pick up. Recently there have been 6+ 2/5, 2-3 5/10s and countless 1/2's.

On a Thursday there will be a GREAT 10/20 Limit Omaha 8 game that includes a $100 Aces cracked (Can't win low or high) that has some of the world's worst Omaha players.

On Friday there will be a 1/2 bring in for 5 Omaha (Round of Each) PLO game that starts EARLY Friday and runs till SAT night.

I'm actually glad. I'm bad at Omaha and have no idea how to play limit so had a feeling I was going to start dabbling in this because watching a few orbits had me shaking my head

Wow. There's nothing I want more than the failure of these criminal OK casinos and their gouging/robbing of hungry/desperate gamblers.

But the poker rooms are the exception. They are relatively fair, staff quality people (Winstar at least) and offer a winnable game.

I hope this isn't true.

Riverwind will be closing from 3:30am to 9:30 am. Choctaw is not closing it's room according to upper management.

There was a big rumor (maybe about same time last year?) that choctaw was closing. Probably just BS again.

i played the 1-2-5 plo mix and just wanted to say how much I loved it. plo8 doesnt get spread in the chicagoland area so it was a real treat to play. plus everyone at the table was very friendly and polite which is not something I'm used to up here. cant wait to visit again soon.

Yes, most players on the table are regulars and they are friendly.
They are trying to grow the Omaha games by setting aside some days for 4-8 O8, 10-20 O8 and some for PLO 1-2. Games have been running for more than 18 months.

Sometimes game gets crazy (3bets are crazy for live game) but most of the time it is single raised or limped around.

Hey guys, I'm looking to transition a bit to live poker. Moved to Dallas recently and a little burned out on online poker. I'm wondering how deep the 2-5 and 5-10 plo plays. Also what days is it running recently?

The 2/5 PLO runs during great weekend nights Fri/Sat but is NOT a guaranteed game. Sometimes there is an interest list but it doesn't run very often. It is 500-2,000.

5/10 PLO runs during the River Series during the summer and is sometimes 10/25 runs as well. Not sure about structure for 5/10 but safe to assume somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,000-10,000.

I've been told several times that there is a "PLO game in Dallas" so you may want to ask some of the 5/10 regs and guys around if there is any truth to it. Apparently when the 10/25 game runs, it always has a full table with Dallas guys who can't pass up the action filled with wannabe pros.

In summary, doesn't runs very often at all
