Has anyone here rode the bus to the casino? I was curious if the reward play you get for riding the bus is usable to buy chips or can you only use it on slots? I called the 800 # on the website but the girl who answered wasn't sure.

The last Monday I played was June 4th. That day I made $1970, but I did lose $50 combined in two short 1/2 sessions. Nice hand.

So after a few sessions at winstar and an upswing of +5k I decided to be a degen and played $50 - $200/hand bj. I actually made some money in a few of those sessions. Anyways, Winstar has been sending me post cards that said I can book rooms for free anyday of the week for a 2-night stay.

I'm wondering how are these hotels/inns' quality? Are they crappy or average? Are the rooms as nice as the tower rooms at Choctaw?

Somewhere in the Holiday Inn Express range for quality. Nothing to write home about, not as nice as Choctaw.

Can poker awards/points be used towards hotel rooms?

I just attempted to book a room for the first time ever. Since the new rewards system I have been "saving" my poker hours played to apply towards a room. I'd guess I have at least 15 full day sessions saved up. I stopped using it for food for this purpose.

I was just told on the phone that poker players' points can't be used towards the hotels. She had me pulled up in their system but could not help me. She offered me a room for $239! Whatever.

Since the new system was installed I've verified with 3 different floor people if the points could be used towards a room. If my comps have disappeared it will be disgusting but not surprising.

By the way, all offers I receive in the mail are for Sun-Thurs which are worthless to me. I've been going there 2-3 Saturdays/month since the poker room opened. As long as they are able to steal money from Texas they should at least not treat us like dirt.

they're not stealing from Texas, we Texans keep electing worthless idiotic scumbag piles of trash who sell us down the river to satisfy out of state interests and moral busybody religious zealots.

They treat you like dirt because they can. You said it yourself...you've been going there 2-3 Saturdays a month for years. Unless they have a reason to change, they won't.

Agreed. By stealing I was referring to the 50 cents they take for every blackjack hand. Doesn't affect me because I only play poker there. Charging for drinks is ridiculous as well.

They just don't grasp the old-school Vegas concept of treating the customer well, knowing it will provide returns in the long run. They squeeze every penny out of you every chance they get.

Exactly. They are obviously gouging us while they can until we wake up and legalize it. But they will do every thing in their power to see that doesn't happen.

All I want in Texas is poker. I can continue going to Vegas twice a year for the pit games.

I assume you mean alcoholic drinks, since Diet Dr. Pepper flows like water all over the Winstar.

The most recent news I could find on this subject says this would be illegal under the compact between the tribe and the State of Oklahoma. More evidence that state governments around here are poker's worst enemies.

Right, but they can't do that if Texas gets with the damn program and stops being so backwater idiotic. If you are the only game in town, what is your motivation? The people HAVE to come back.

If a casino opens in Dallas that has no-ante blackjack, how long do you think Winstar will charge antes on blackjack?

Anyway, I am curious about the hotel situation. I may just stay in Gainesville.

I've got some lammers to use on Sunday and don't want to make two trips this weekend.

If you want free rooms, you need to hit the degens tables. $1/hr @ a poker table will take you at least a month to get a free room..40hr/wk.

Winstar has a weird system for their comps though. Last time, The pitboss added 2 dinners and $50 on my card to buy anything at the gift shop, and I went to play poker and tried to use my passport card to pay for food..they said.."sir you have two dollars in here." wtf

It is a weird system indeed. I have verified that it is not necessary to give your card to the desk on each visit. The table is supposed to accrue the hours. But I was also told it's good for rooms, so who knows.

I have not handed my card to the desk in months. I have trusted that being logged in at the tables has been sufficient. I have no idea now. I'm sure I'll find out tomorrow that nothing is on it.

I did book a room in Gainesville. Kind of pricey but I'm looking forward to 3 days of poker.

If that happened they might go out of business before they get a chance to change it.

It isn't happening anytime soon unfortunately... Just think of how sick it would be if there was a casino where reunion arena used to be.

You can book Hampton Suites in Gainesville. (It should say so on your card) It's pretty nice. The old hotel at Winstar (the Inn) sucks.

ROFL!

Texas is backwater idiotic?

Do you not realize that 95% of the players and employees at Winstar live in Texas?

Tons of Texans also frequent Louisiana casinos as well.
That's not even counting all of the hundreds of home games going on all over Texas.

Texans LOVE to gamble and WANT to gamble. We want casinos here!

Rick Perry is the only thing stopping it from happening.

And who elects Rick Perry? Oh, Texans, right. Also a bill has not gotten out of the Texas Lege yet for Rick to veto, so there are plenty of other hurdles in the form of idiotic lawmakers who are elected by idiotic constituencies.
