I played two 1/2 tables tonight/this morning (11pm - 3am), both had decent action, and managed to grind out an alright profit. One of the 2/5 tables had some insane action and a whole lot of money on the table.

I will be playing a lot more live poker now, what's the action like during the week/wknds? What's the highest NLHE they run during the week? During the wknds? A long time ago it used to close at like 2am, I assume that's not the case any more?

Thanks for the answers guys.

Now that I have to consider live poker for the short-term as well... has anyone projected what's a good hourly at 2/5? 5/10?

Action is pretty good during the week. They average 8 or more tournament tables and cash is always pretty sick if you are looking to play 1/2 and up. had 5 or 6 2/5's and 3 5/10's yesterday and I ended up playing till 3am bc the action was great. btw they are open 24 hrs now.

Great answers guys thanks. Do they all have the auto shufflers? What kind of hands/hr. are we looking at here?

There isnt usually much of a wait... No need to call ahead. if the list gets too long they open a new table, unless they are full.

All of the tables have autoshufflers.

Hands/hr depends largely on how fast the players are your table make decisions but on average you're looking at about 25-30 hands an hour.

Not all of the tables have shufflers unless added in the last month when I last played. The tables on the left side of the room (viewed when standing at the podium as a player signing up for the waiting list) do not have shufflers in the last few rows. This is where the MTTs are usually played, also used for cash games on busy nights.

Seems like they get in a bit more hands/hr than 25-30 but I never counted. I'm sure dealerguy can answer.

I can read this thread but not post anything to it since I work in the room.

Just FYI, not ignoring anyone.

From Austin and have nothing on my Calendar for the coming week.

If I head up for Mon-Sun (18th-24th), what are the best hours to play $2/5 NL (assuming I want to get in ~6 hours / day).

If I only use my hotel to sleep (aka don't care about amenities, just want a bed and a shower), would it be cheaper to stay at Winstar or is there a goto hotel in Gainseville I should look at?

Thanks,
-Tom

Monday, they are doing a $500 p/half hour splash pot, so Monday the action should be good pretty much all day-

generally speaking- traffic normally picks up in the afternoons starting around 3 or 4pm in the afternoon (when people come up from Dallas after work)

the evenings start to slow down around 2am, and the action increases closer to the weekend, and Fri nights and Saturday/Sat nights are the nuts.

I drive from Dallas so I don't know what the best options are for hotel, etc- but there are hotels in Gainesville, which is only about 20 mins away or so-

Gainesville has a few cheap options for hotels and is like 10 miles from the casino... anyone else going up tomorrow for the 500$ splash pots ? I'll be there playing 1/2....

Sick action today? Any crazyness like people calling all ins with 78s cuz of a splash pot?

Not near as crazy as previous years. At 5pm there were a few tables not being used and no board for 1-2NL and 4-8. But people will always make (potentially) stupid plays in these promotions.

It's so funny when all the jokers rush over to the chosen table to watch the hand. It's a whopping $500 and they act like it's the greatest thing they've ever seen. When the table I was at was chosen, some yahoo came and stood right next to the table between me and the player next to me. I not so politely asked him to back off, and he initially thought I was joking.

Would Winstar ever consider starting a mixed game? I've never asked because I've always played them online.

I plan on asking in person this weekend. I assume the main issue would be how many of the dealers could run all of the games involved?

Part of being a dealer is knowing how to deal every game, you could ask, they would probably even start an interest list, but good luck getting enough players for the game to go

They can barely even get the 2/5 PLO to run on a saturday night so I doubt you will have much luck getting a mix game started. Can't hurt to try though.

What's the food like up there? What kind of comps do you get in the poker room for food? Last time I was up there, it was very average sandwich/pasta from that italian place (Zios???) Can I use earned comps anywhere in the casino? Do they stack? (IE, can I save up a couple days worth and eat at the nicest place there)
