I agree. Although, not sure how anxious they will be to expand poker. But I still like the idea of a constant stream of new people wanting to play. If you're playing a room that has a list 60 deep every Friday night, logic tells you the games are going to be pretty awesome.

Have they announced what the rake is going to be yet?

10% with max being $5. Plus $1 for bad beat. I've been reading everyone's concerned about the waiting list, but if it's that busy, the Sands will expand.

Are all the PA casinos going to have this rake?

I was at Sands this morning... in additional to table game training, dealers were being trained specifically to deal Omaha. Pots were being split as hands were being tabled. They did this for 4 hours while I was there. Perhaps we will see some O8 or mixed games at Sands?

They are approved. Section 553.20 in the document below covers them.

Are low-only games legal in PA?

They are not in NJ.

If you check out the link I gave in post #107 in this thread you would see in section 553.9:

Quote:
§ 553.9. Types of permissible Poker games.

 (a) A certificate holder may offer the following types of Poker games:

 (1) Seven-card Stud (High, High-low-hand Split and High-low-hand Split Eight or Better).

 (2) Hold 'em (High).

 (3) Omaha (High, High-low-hand Split Eight or Better).

 (4) Five-card Draw (high and low-hand).

 (5) Five-card Stud (high).

 (6) Other Poker games approved by the Board.

 (b) A certificate holder may not offer or permit the playing of any Poker game which is not authorized by this chapter or approved under § 521.3 (relating to table games surveillance requirements).

Thanks,

So what exactly are the other games approved by the board??

Razz?
2-7 lowball?
A-5 lowball?
Badugi?

Anyone know? Sorry, but I love playing these games and only get to play them twice a year when I go to Vegas. Maybe I should make it three times?!?!

Nothing else has been approved yet. My understanding is the certificate holder would have to petition the PGCB.

I'm sure most PA card rooms will be more interested in trying to get everything running smoothly before going through a lot of effort petitioning for some niche games.

I would like to see RAZZ myself but I don't see it happeneing.

Davey - One of my poker buddies has a "reserved" seat for the opening. Is there a pre-opening signup list?

Was planning on stopping in for the grand opening Sunday morning but worried it will be a madhouse. How are you handling the start of poker at 8am? How many tables will be going at 8am and when will the list start for games? Thanks in advance!

Yes! Any info on opening day would be greatly appreciated. I'm coming from Los Angeles to visit family for 2 weeks and plan to regularly visit the Sands.

I've already signed up for my players card- what's this about a "reserved" seat?

They put in the rails, check-in desk, and couple monitors.

I'm pretty sure they do that there. But it's easy to earn the Preferred Card.

I asked them a year ago if my Harrahs Platinum card would get me any sort of upgrade, and they told me I needed to be Seven Stars or Borgata Titanium.

YIKES!

Don't know if this still holds true.
