Yeah I know, that player ended up leaving later in the day. I heard the max would be 1,500 but I'm not sure.

Hopefully when they move into the new room in November they'll have either only a 1/3 game or only a 1/2 game with a higher limit, and then the 2/5 and 5/5 NL games. Then I'll only have to put my name on 3 lists instead of 4 when I'm driving in ; )

A couple of updates.

5/5 NL reportedly pending approval to $500 min/$1,500 max.

New room construction has actually begun. Slot machines have been removed and area has been roped off for expansion onto the casino floor. Fall still the ETA, though time will tell.

Are you sure it's expanding onto the casino floor? They could be just replacing those slots with newer ones. That's also a smoking area too then. The newspaper said it will be ready in November.

Expansion onto the floor is what more than one floor person had told me.

I wonder how often the 5/5 game will play with a UTG straddle now that there cap is 1500.

Are they enclosing it then, or leaving it open?

Did they raise the limit already? Either way, it's been going every weekend.

They really need to bring back more poker tables for sure, the wait lists for the games especially during Friday and Saturday nights have been getting long recently.

Hi all,

It's been a really long time since I've checked this forum or even been to this Casino much less Poker Room. The last time I went must have been two if not 3 years ago and it was just after they took the poker room off the floor and stuck it in an enclosed room instead. I went once maybe twice to the new room and hated it. I felt like it wasn't nearly as fun or enjoyable because it wasn't an open air environment where I could look around and just kind of passed the time while I waited for hands and at the same time the action seemed far worse because it felt like it was much more just poker players as opposed to a greater variety of players, particularly it felt like all of a sudden everyone became very nitty. It really turned me off and I never went back since. Obviously since then the Sands was sold to a new casino I guess called wind creek. I'm in the area again and I was curious to learn that it was sold and I read a little bit of the most recent pages on two plus twos Forum here and obviously there are some changes afoot. I was just curious if anyone felt like the action was a lot better than the time they opened the new Poker Room about 3 years ago and also if maybe the poker room changed or they were currently had poker back on the floor or if they had planned to do it on the floor or plan do a more open environment. Anyways thanks for listening and I appreciate if anyone responds Best of luck

I also preferred the original middle room instead of being inside 4 walls all day by far, and the current room is actually on the casino floor for now until the new room is finished which should be some time by the end of the year. It's on the right side of the casino on the side of the high limit room and bac tables so if you like being out in the middle in a high energy environment and what not, you will like the temp "room" which is just a roped off area in the casino.

In terms of action, I think the action is as good now as it's ever been (I only play 2/5 and the 5/5 when it goes which are the highest games). Of course you can find yourself in a bad game at any time too, but for the most part action is good. I've played thousands of hours in the new room too and I don't think it became very nitty at all, sure every now and then of course you might find yourself in a bad game that's everywhere but if one of the reasons you prefer being outside so you can look around while waiting for hands, maybe you're also one of the nitty players complaining the game's too tight ; ) jk

Also if anyone hasn't been here since last Wed., we have new cards now. A bit thinner, similar to Borgata cards and the font/contrast colors on the faces are different so don't let this happen to you....

On the first day of the new cards I rivered a nut flush, so I raised the river and he went all in which I happily called. He tabled a pocket pair and I tabled the NF. I knew him and it wasn't like him to play a pair like that but I was thinking "ok whatever" when I saw the pot was being pushed to him. I stopped the dealer and said I have a NF. Everyone said no you don't, I laughed and said yeah I do, look it's right there, they also laughed and said no you don't, and the pot was being pushed to him again, I said STOP I have a NF when I realized it was the new cards and the spades looking like clubs because they're a bit wider than the old ones so I thought I had a flush but I misread the board and only had ace high.

It was the single most embarrassing hand I've ever played in my life so use caution if you're not used to the new cards yet. 2 dealers also told me they misread boards just like me too. Otherwise the cards are fine, I prefer the old ones since they're thicker and I can see them better due to better color contrast on the faces (I don't have good eyes though).

Very spot on. I always felt the action at Wind Creek was pretty decent especially during the weekends.

Considering going to Wind Creek to play their 2/5 NL game soon. Any differences in action and skill level of the players as compared to their 1/2 NL game? What do most players buy in for on average ? I am used to playing 1/2 NL and 1/3 NL games but want to give 2/5 a shot. Thanks in advance.

The main difference is the buy in is 1K and most players buy in for max but there's nothing wrong with buying in for 500 or so if you want. The 2/5 gets deep most days with several stacks 2K to 3K+ and a few still at 1K or below usually. There's a lot more action and bluffing in 2/5, but that doesn't necessarily mean those players are better than the 1/2 players, they're just a different type of bad.

The difference in skill is probably about the same overall, but there's less older OMC type players who limp/call hands like JJ and AK like they do in 1/2, and there's more action in 2/5 with more 3betting, bluffing, and sticky players, depending on who's at the table at the time you play.

If you know what you're doing there's nothing wrong with playing 2/5, it just depends on how much $$ you wanna risk.

Thank you so much. I would prefer to buy in between $700-$800 as opposed to the full $1000 max buy in with another $700-$800 available to rebuy/top off if needed. Just trying not to invest too much of my bankroll but yet play comfortable poker without feeling that I’m too short stacked compared to the rest of the table. Does that sound reasonable or should I just buy in for the full $1000?

700/800 is fine, some players who buy in short buy in for around 800 anyway. If there's a lot of 3betting from some of the button pressing regs or the game isn't good you can ask for a table change, there's usually one or two other games going, and if you want you can come back and post a trip report but up to you.

Haha I misread the context of the post then. I see the abbreviation EV in a poker forum and thought something else. Carry on…

Yes it's in the parking garage, I can't remember if it's on the bottom somewhere or on the roof level but if you call them they'll probably be able to tell you.
