Any one know what's the average turn out for their Sat & Sunday Tourney?

Would be nice if they post it through Bravo like Parx is with listing of 1st prize paid out too.

Saturday 60-80

Sunday 55-75

We will begin to post this information sometime this coming week.

Does Sands poker have any special hotel rates for the area hotels (other than their own)? Nothing is listed in the Bravo app.

The sat tournament is dying which stinks because it has the best format maybe on the east coast.

Today I think they had between 50-52. I played terrible and I'm already home.

Its time to slap a $7500+ guarantee on this tournament at least once a month to get people back there. Or maybe a $50 bounty or something. People love guarantees. The same thing week after week just doesn't get people excited.

Think its time to pump in some positive change here. Table counts have been way down and regular games are fading. I would love to see it made possible to start list for a 10 person SNG at like 60. each and payout 300. 1st, 180 2nd, and 120 3rd. Maybe a 60+5fee? The 50. buck splash pot on Mondays is a big dud. Tables Monday still only peek out around 9 which is weak. I think the Mega Bad Beat change was a mistake also. Not sure why that was instilled but think it is more of a negative than positive.

I used to love playing here and still do truly think the staff and dealers are a great friendly bunch, but just lost enthusiasm in going which saddens me. Whatever happened to the hot seat giveaway promo? That always gave the room a positive energy that was fun to be part of. Hopefully some positive changes are made to get people excited once again to frequent a place I spent so much time at in past.

Saturday tourney sucks, 52 ppls register for a prize pool of $8,000 the casino only have to open 5-6 tables and rake in $2,000 only top 5 place paid and 1st place get $3,400. This mean less money for players and you would have to run like g.o.d if you want to break even.

jriiikk: why play on saturday when you can play on sunday where you are "guarantee" to at least break even. Now if they do a 20K guarantee for their sunday it would be great the last time they did it they get a huge turnout.

PASANDSMAN: Knowing how the sand business model is their SnG would be more like this $60+15. I also think that the reason that ppls shy away from this room is because of the constant barage of slots and smokes.

How come they don't have another DS Event like their Vegas casino is doing for the summer series?

The tournament got 53 this week and 47 last week. The only explanation for this is they are having the parx tourney series which could take away some people, and the last two Saturdays have been fairly nice outside for the first time this year.

I think a guarantee would work well. They have the 5k guarantee on Friday, which I believe will be going away. Maybe they can put that towards the Deepstack on Saturday. The only problem a guarantee would bring to it, is that it may go super long. Last week, I was fortunate enough to chop 4 ways, but with only 47 people we still played to 9pm at night. I could only imagine with more chips how long that tourney could go.

I think the next DS event is at the end of August.

I agree with you for the following reason: if (and when) the bbj gets high like it used to say around 350K+, the room will probably not be as busy as when it went up that high in the past because there is always the mini bbj and people will understand that they can still hit the bbj, but if it's below quad 8's they will only get paid on the lower one.

Played again this week and still the nonstop use of phones during play goes unaddressed. Had someone literally talking on the phone and betting 3 streets and the dealer did nothing.

Do you think NJ online poker is decreasing the player pool for Sands?

I decided to try Sands again (usually I go to Parx), and was reminded of why I will probably never play here again:
- Loud as hell
- Smoky
- Takes forever to play hands because dealers always have to manually change money for players (get chip runners, yo)
- Tables have zero leg room except for seat 5/6.
- The bigger games never get started. I was at 5-5 and they had 14 names for 5/10, called the game and literally no one showed up. Lame.

Sorry to just bitch, but this is just a **** experience for poker players. Never again for me. Peace.

To some degree yes, but I believe it is more than just that. Obviously any card room is gonna peak out after being newly introduced to a state, but I think it would help to change things up a bit and not in the manner of splash pots or the mega bad beat.

Have a good friend that used to play at Dover, he said when it opened it always had 11 tables running. Eventually it turned into 1 table running and it was all solid players that didn't even wanna play against each other. I guess the fish dry up once they recognize they are not going to beat the game. I know a lot of players that frequented there that are also going back to private clubs and home games as well.

I've been to Sands once since November so yes. All my live action goes to Atlantic City once a month now for a three day weekend. I'll be there for the next deep stack event probably. A lot of my friends don't go nearly as much either since online poker here. Where am I going to get a 5k guarantee for $11 and not have to drive? So in short yes.

I respect your opinion but it seems you are in reality closer to Parx and thought the games would be softer at Sands. Obviously your trip wasn't profitable because these issues seem small if you are making good $$$.

No, he is dead on. This room is run poorly, and the management is atrocious. I went last night for the first time and was so disappointed.

I think the management is very proactive. They definitely listen to players suggestions and take action. I also believe they truly take care of the players and listen to comments good and bad. They added the feature games at request of players to post them on bravo.

I just think their recent changes have been negative instead of positive for the room health. I know they read this and maybe if we make some positive suggestions they will take action like they have in past. Davey always took players requests seriously and also took appropriate actions when necessary.

I make the same hourly rate at Parx and Sands (been tracking over the past 2 years). Just finally fed up with the lack of attention paid to poker players at Sands.

The poker room is never ever smokey. Smoking is not allowed in the poker room. The smoking area is far enough away from the room to make it smokey. There are other areas of the casino that can get smokey if you walk through it.

so if someone busts out, would you rather him keep buying in right away and play the next hand, or would you want him to wait about 5 to 10 hands while a chip runner gets his chips? I would prefer he get right back in the game, especially if he's losing or donating. First buy-in's are never exchanged at the table by the dealer. they need to go to the cage.

So no one showed up, which I assume also included you? The reason for this is no one wants to play short so they stay in their games (like you did) and keep looking to see if it fills up. If 10 people just got up right away, the game would have gone off.

Slots and smoke do NOT intrude as a factor, the room is not affected by those problems.

I dont have a problem with the room but the slots and smoke definitely take away from the room. When I leave the room after a long session the slots definitely get to me after a while and my clothes always smell like smoke even though I spend 98% of my time at the poker tables.

Davino,

Not sure how i got quoted in your post saying about the business model doing a 60+15 or about the smoke, but I never said either thing. I think maybe Mr. Diamond mentioned those. Odd how my name is in there saying that? Looking at it once again maybe he was responding to my original post.

I started going there 2 days a week again because the games are soft with good selection and for the most part competent dealers but I really think its one of the worst rooms I have played in. The floor is horrible, it is way to loud and the tables and chairs do suck. There are a hand full of regulars that just change tables when ever they want and if you have the dealer call the floor because the table is left short handed they will go over to said player then come back and say he asked. On two occasions I witnessed a regular add chips to stack when he was over the buy in, both times I informed the floor both times as far as I could tell they did nothing this was same person both times.
