i dont play 1/2 but it's very close probably more regular older tight nits getting there around noon and more wreckless players getting there later in the day. Just becuase there are tight older players during the day doesn't mean you can't outplay them, they're usually easier than the people who are just there to gamble.

How soft is the player pool for this 5/5 game? Are there mostly regs playing this game Fri-Sund? I'm trying to decide between 1kcapped games whether it would be Parx or Sands.. Please help! Is it worth taking my chances at going to sands for fewer 5/5 games which can be potentially softer or go to parx with more grinders and the option to table-change with variety?

This is just generally speaking but I've seen tougher players in the 2/5 @ Parx than the 5/5 @ Sands. Sands players aren't all bad, there is just a lot more aggressive players and usually better action at Parx. Lots of the reg 2/5 players in the 5/5 game @ Sands.

I like playing both games and casinos but just slightly different player pools and games.

Thanks man! Gave me just enough information to make my decision - I figure more agression/action is better for a game until I feel at a disadvantage; Then and there I can TC since there is a larger player pool for Parx 2/5>Sands 5/5

since i've been told i should post this in this thread to see if others have the same issue and possibly have it addressed by sands personnel... i'll copy this over (i posted this in a longer post in another thread)

TL;DR can we please make it the policy at sands that players can lock up their seats before buying chips?

Quote:
i personally (as a weekend warrior that spreads my playing out over a few rooms) keep a buy-in plus some "top-off" money in green chips only for sands pa. and that's purely because of their annoying buy-in process. the cashier is not super close to the poker room (not really far either... i'm just being lazy with this part) and there is often a line to buy chips. you have to get your first buy-in at the cage. there are no chip runners. and for whatever reason, the floor has developed a process there over the last couple of years of not letting you lock up your seat without chips. they pretty much just dismiss you if you don't have chips.

i have had this scenario happen to me three times now.

me: hi, i'd like to play 1-2 (there is no waiting list)
floor: do you have chips?
me: not yet
floor: get chips and then come back and see me
me: (goes gets chips. comes back)
me: i have chips now, i'd like to play 1-2 please
floor: there are no seats. you're third on the list.
me: (standing there holding a rack of chips until a seat opens up)

so now i just keep all my green chips up to $500 and cash out the rest. if i leave broke then i'll buy my chips at the cage next time.

Just tell them you have chips when they ask. Lock seat. Go to "dinner" and buy chips. Problem solved.

Like, I usually buy chips first since it just makes sense and I never have to wait more than 15 minutes for a seat, but anytime I have just told them I have chips they let me lock the seat. Never had a dealer not let me do it when I just threw my card on the table

that's a good idea. next time i'll just say i have chips even if i don't.

and yeah... i've never had to wait more than 20 minutes when the list is just starting. it's more annoyance than major issue. added onto the inconvenience and aggravation of getting passed up for a seat that should be mine is the feeling that i'm being dismissed not because "that's the procedure" but because they don't want to deal with me if they don't have to. i mean... if i go get chips, and then another guy shows up with chips the floor should put HIM on the list and save that seat for me. i think so anyway. anyway... minor issue.

They should have taken your initials before you went to get the chips. I hardly ever buy chips first. If someone in particular had you go to the cage without even taken down your name to reserve a seat, get his name from his tag and address it with Dave or ask another floor who the pit manager is and they will address it. No this is not common at all unless it was a misunderstanding. You have 10 minutes from the time you lock up a seat to purchase chips.

that's exactly what i expected but after the third time i figured it was just the way. twice was the same guy. once was another. i remember both. all three times it was the rare time-window of no waiting list when i showed up... waiting list when i returned with chips. if it happens again i'll address it with someone. thanks!

This sounds like partially a mistake partially miscommunication. Of course you can lock up a seat without chips. They tell you to get chips cuz players that don't know better assume they can get chips at the table.

Also if this does happen you should definitely be at top of the list

How about keeping tables 9-handed so they can build a list quicker to get a new table started?

Couldn't figure out why new tables kept opening when we had an open seat at ours. The floor confirmed that 1st guy on the list for the new table wasn't allowed to be the 10th at an existing table. Standard? Front Desk trying to get more dealers work?

and yet when i was there, there was 10+ ppl on the list for 5/10 and they didn't open the table until 2 hours later

Most likely because those players were at other tables and/or they knew they needed way more on the list to actually get that game going.

What's the official line on people using electronic devices while in a hand? I see this all the time and dealers do little or nothing. I'll see people act preflop, then go right back to their phone and texting. Gets really annoying when dealers have to tell a player on every street that it's their action because they're too busy texting crap.

they could be colluding, too. should not be allowed.

I agree with this 100%. There is one dealer that to his credit will not let people do this (cant say his name but it goes with katsup) and one floor when the player complained, stood by the rule and told him he cant look at his phone while in a hand (name ryhmes with foo). Congtats to them.

However there are other dealers who are not as strict.

Their are buses around the area that u can take. Walking from the hotel is a bit of a hike. The hotel is in a good part of town you should have no problem getting help from a stranger on the street.

Buy in limits are 60/300 and 200/600 I believe. Good luck.

Just call the hotel - I'm sure they will know all the ways to get you back and forth safely.

I don't think safety is an issue as much as the length of the walk, you would have to walk from the hotel down to the New Street bridge over to Third Street, hook a left and walk quite a bit to the casino. There is LANTA bus that makes a loop route through Bethlehem including stops near the hotel and at the casino but it stops running at certain point in the evening. Cabs are available by calling, be warned they are not cheap.
