4. Each level will last 20 minutes
5. 10k chips

No Antes!? OMG that changes it a lot, the tourney will SLOW down big time when you get to final 3-4 tables.

They had better consider adding ante's and reducing the blinds.

3 hrs in - Level 9 is 1500,3k blinds.

I'd def like to hear from people who played it how the event ran at about the 2pm mark, and where things are right now.

Also like to hear when they got to the final 18 (the money?) and final 9.

I'd also expect a deal to occur given the high blinds at the 5 hr mark (10k/20k)

I'd also like to know the payouts, esp for 1,2,3.
I can help a bit here.
-
2pm there were roughly 85-90 players if I recall correctly

Payouts started at 15th place prior to 5pm, maybe 445pm.

Final 9 players around 6pm.

Still playing at this time....

Went over to look at the FT...with 9 ppl left the average stack was 222k and the blinds were 40k/80k (no antes). Triple-checked to make sure all of that was accurate and somehow it was. Head asplode.

Tournament report:

Called poker room at 9:01 AM, spoke to cardroom manager. He told me there was already 30 in tourny with 50 in line. Line formed prior to reg. opening. Called back at 9:23, he said there was 150 in and not to waste time because I would not make it. So of course the degen. in me got in car and did 95 there, got there at 9:45 and was number 186. They cut line off 14 behind me for the 200 max entrants. Bunch of players still coming in that got the shaft, one guy wanted to buy my ticket for 200. Prize pool was 16k.

Tournament started at 11. Blinds structures IMO were not bad. One major complaint was the 5K chip, from distance on table it looked identical in color to 500 chip. Other annoyance were some players keeping their big chips in back of smaller chips. I told 3 players to put large chips where visible, did not see a dealer call it out once.

Breaks were decently timed and IMO spaced out properly. Blinds did get pretty high late in tourny but there were no antes which I liked. The play was mediocre to decent later in tourney obviously. I went to 26th place and they only paid out 15. Not that it would of helped me personally but I think they should of paid out 20 instead of 15 w/ 200 in.

26th I made no money obviously but from what I heard 16th and 17th got 10 from each player or 170 each. I could be mistaken on this though. I did watch final table briefly and they split it 6 ways due to all being about same in chips and the blinds being HUGE. Each player walked away with 2101. Floor did make them play it down for camera sake so they just all went AI and one guy tables and rest mucked. Not sure how they did chop with tax repurcutions.

A lot of cash games going during tourney. Bunch of stakes to choose from as well. Overall well run tourney. If you are gonna play in it soon, my best advice is to get there prior to 9:30. BTW the registration was ran great. They registered about 30 people in a 15 min time span. On a side, dealers split the 5x200 or 1K from buyins and one dealer told me all the tipping done at final table went into a shared pool as well. Would definitely play in it again.

Sorry for eating up more space, just wanted to answer several more questions I just saw. There were no alternates taken. First place if paid out would of been 4650. I believe. Tourney ended around 6:15PM. The tourney buyin is where you buy chips for poker, they had three windows open if I remember correctly. They had the velvet rope deal going to left of windows down towards Emerils.

Reminds me, starting in 4-6 weeks the BI for 2/5 at Sands will be 200-1000. There will also no longer be a 5/5 NLHE. It will be 1/2, 2/5, then 5/10.

Great news as this will make it the best 2-5 game in the northeast.

Might really hurt 5-10 unless they change the buyin to 2k max

I guess I won't be going to the sands anymore.....$500 max is acceptable for 2/5....

it will just move all the 5/10 players down to 2/5. I don't know how that makes it a better game.....

Do blinds even matter or just the size of the stacks when you sit down?

Why is sands changing the max buy in though? I understand raising the min buyin, but why are they raising it to 1000?

One glitch that really needs to be addressed with dealers in the tourney. Dealing the tourney as if it was a cash game. Example..Not giving cards to a player who gets up from the table to smoke or go to the bathroom. I understand it was the first tourney for many of these dealers, however it still needs to be corrected in my opinion.

Where have you heard this, I've heard rumors as well, but they've been saying this for months now. Last I heard, it was supposed to start Presidents weekend, but obviously that didn't happen.

I would only believe it if I heard it from Dave the poker room manager.

I really hope it's not true, I agree with others that it will hurt what is currently a great game.

has this been confirmed? what are they gonig to do when people are still going to wana start a list for 5/5 - are they gona tell them they won't start an interest list? 5/5 is not 2/5 it plays a lot looser and more aggresive.

I don't think the 5/10 players will come down to 2/5 but I hope they keep the 5/5 game going. fwiw in other places I play where 2/5 is 1,000 max most people still buy in for 300 to 500 anyway.

No, they only report on a 5k PROFIT, so since 1st paid 4680 there's no reporting thus a chop is fine.

This is likely why they limited it to 200 people, so 1st is not over 5100 and chops can occur w/o regard for taxes.

Might get a room today so I don't have to drive up at the asscrack of dawn for 10/25 tomorrow. Are there any poker rates or anything? Also, will they upgrade your card if you show them a Borgata black label card?

I'm not complaining, making the buy in 1k will make it deeper and prob will reduce some of the aggression if 8 poeple have 1k, where currently in 2/5 you might see three.

Assuming you get that many buying in for 1k.. kinda doubt it given the smaller player pool at Sands.

Is this a Pennsylvania thing? I've cashed for as little as $600 at the Borgata and had the tax forms sent to the IRS.

When I hit a table share of a BBJ I was told the IRS reporting was $1500. Wouldn't they limit to 20 tables so other games can run?
