anyone know if the new tables will be in use this weekend? i've been watching the website game report and the waits are still absolutely ridiculous on friday and saturdays. i like the room and am glad they are busy, but i'm not coming back till the wait lists are lower (or they find a way to manage the wait lists fairly).

What does "fairly" mean?

the two times i've been there with wait lists of over 50 (once over a 100)... (this is for 1/2 btw) they were obviously overwhelmed and just didn't really care about keeping the wait list organized. so then as would be expected, anytime a name was called, about 5 people would run up and claim to be them hoping that person had given up and left. well not only is this annoying and not fair that people are getting seated right away while the rest of us are waiting for our name to be called, but it actually makes the list longer since those that have given up aren't passed over... their spot is just given to some jerk who didn't want to wait. and of course, once people see other people doing it, then they start doing it too.

if you have really long lists, you should check names.

but to be honest, you can ignore the last part of my post, waiting sucks even when it is "fair". i would rather not wait at all (and not screw anyone over in the process).

so enough of my whining (sorry)... does anyone know if the new tables will be in use this weekend?

No, new tables will not be used until around mid Feb. from what I was told by floor.

So the Sands currently has four open tables but has a wait list of 17 for 5/10 NL and 18 for 2/5 NL.

I hope once they open the new tables they will manage the room better then they do now.

A better card room would have at least one extra 5/10 game going right now and probably two extra 2/5 games going.

Sands needs a certain amount of floor staff for every 10 tables in play. They probably got busier earlier than expected.

Yeah well it seems like they do this alot, miss managing the amount of floor people assigned consistently is NOT an acceptabl excuse IMO. The sands is a poorly run room, Im not experienced enough to know if its due to poor floor members or management higher up (a mixture imo) but it is farfrom an efficiently run room.

As a regular player here I could not disagree more. Last night we had the O8 list at ten people at like 5:30, game opened up at 6. Every Friday night I am there which is always, they rarely fail to open our games quickly once list fills up on an already stressful and busy night. Very early on we had problems on occasions not getting the game open until the next shift came in at 8PM, but it has not been a problem for some time now.

I to am a borderline regular, i play atleast once a week up to 3x a week there. But your reference is to one particular game O8, in one instance. I would not be able to count how many times they had huge lists and still had open tables (neither would you). I realize you need X amount of floor people for X amount of tables, but that is not a valid excuse. That simply means there is poor scheduling of floor people. Having open tables and long lists is simply inexcusable to me, and in the end limits their profits. I have only played in sands, parx and all the AC casinos and I consider sands to be my "home" casino. But it is my least favorite in terms of floor personnel and the way they run the room.

I think this issue is way overblown. There may be a few hrs on a Friday or Sat night where this is a problem that's it. Remember this room is only 18 mos old and growing monthly. You can't compare this room to AC rooms because they are all declining monthly and have excess capacity. This room has the cutting edge of technology deployed at all tables and on the net. Most of the Vegas casinos don't have a great website and aren't on the Bravo system. What else do you expect from a new room?

The website is great i will certainly admit that, and I love how they show you how many people are waiting aswell.

If you define a well-run room as one where the floor people spend 95% of their time hanging out at the podium or standing around watching sports on the overhead TVs, then yes, Sands is a well-run room.

Did BBJ hit again? Also, anyone else read the tournament rules for the upcoming tourneys here? I think the language in them is way to open to discussion. Many rules if broken are discussed as floor may give warning or may give out penalty. Does anyone else think everyone should receive same penalty for breaking same rule? Why should one person get warning and another an actual penalty for doing the same thing? Personally I think this language used in the rules is going to get them into a lot of bad spots. There should be concrete terms to be met that are uniform to everyone for breaking the rules. It should not be this guy got a verbal warning and this guy has to sit out for a 1/2 hour for doing exact same violation. Any other comments, thoughts, or personal experiences with this for you guys?

Here is one as an example:
A penalty MAY be invoked if a player exposes any card with action pending, if a card(s) goes off
the table, if soft-play occurs, or similar incidents take place. Penalties WILL be invoked in cases
of abuse, disruptive behavior, or similar incidents. All penalties will be issued at the Sands’ sole
discretion. Penalties available for use by the Sands Tournament Director are verbal warnings,
10, 20, 30, and 40 minutes away from the table and may be used with discretion. These may be
utilized by Sands up to and including disqualification. A player who is disqualified shall have his/
her chips removed from play.

BBJ hit again yesterday (Sunday) at 1/2 I believe. Don't know all the particulars but it was at about $40,000 at the time.

When seats open up they get filled. How many times have there been seats open at your table 10-15 min with a wait list of 50 plus.

Was anybody at the table when the two guys got caught cheating by passing cards to one another? Read about it on the @Espn_Poker twitter.

I guess they missed the report of the other guy who got busted cheating.

Do these guys actually think they are dealing with rookie security guys at these new casinos?

I think the issue is that when the lists get very long people wander away from the poker area or leave all together. There is really no place for 50+ people to wait in the poker area. They give these no shows time to claim the seat and seats remain open.

Was at table next to it when it happened. Guy moved over to my table from the 5/5 NLHE table it happened on right after they caught the two guys. He told me they were passing cards to one another under table. He also said one was a regular. Both were escorted out by police.

There's gotta be a better way to cheat than passing cards to each other.
