I know I’m in the minority but I liked the old Sands poker room when it was in the middle of the casino floor . It was chaos but I liked the hearing the noise of the casino floor. I also liked the other recent poker room as well. Sands/WC is closer to me than AC, the games were good enough and their USB charging ports actually work consistently. I look forward to the return of this room.

What is the timeline for opening the temporary room?

My understanding is early October, based on a consensus of conversations including dealers who will be auditioning this month.

Transbridge was the nuts. Able to leave in the morning on Saturday, almost never hit any traffic, even in the summer, bus drops you literally feet away from the poker room, nice casino bonus that made the trip almost free, be able to leave 1:00 in the morning when my game broke, very few people on that bus. Never had a problem taking them.

Absolutely. Loved it. Now runs once a day, not even every day. hopefully it will return to full service.

I took this picture today of a couple poker tables out in the casino area in the smoking section between the high limit room and the burger bar. I assume this means the new poker room won’t be a room: it’ll just be a roped off area on the floor, with lots of smoke to boot. I’m pretty disappointed if this is the case. Hopefully it’s not and they’re just using that as a staging area before moving into the old burger bar location. At least I can hope!

I also stopped by today and I’m almost certain that will be the new poker area. They removed a bunch of slots and VP machines that formally occupied that space. The smoking may be an issue for those bothered by the smoke since there really isn’t much separation. On the bright side at least the area looks fairly big, almost reminds me of the original room.

Very glad that the room seems to be on the fast track to coming back, but we also need the bus situation to go back to normal from NYC, too.

I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I really loved the old room being out in the middle of the casino floor. Let the good times roll!

Have they allowed smoking (inside) again?

Yes smoking is allowed inside again. Personally I don’t mind the smoke to much but the few times I’ve recently been there it’s definitely strong at Wind Creek as compared to other properties

i also like the floor being out in the open. invites more casual players. has more to look at. better energy. i actually played less at sands once it moved to a room

I hope they follow the path of Parx, MDL, MGMNH, Borgata and others in the region with a $500 max 1/3 instead of 1/2.

I was there this morning and snapped a couple new pictures of the poker area. Sorry if the pictures are a little blurry. I blame the haze of smoke in that area for messing with my phone ;-) I don't understand why the Wind Creek smoking section seems so much smokier to me than the Parx and Harrahs smoking sections. Maybe it's just my imagination. You'd think with the high ceiling that the smoke would quickly drift upwards, but instead it seems to just stay at a 5-6 foot high level of fog. I wish they'd take advantage of the old steel mill piping to pump the smoke up and out haha

I counted 14 tables. Since the area is still under construction, I suppose it's possible that number will change. I look forward to the room opening soon! Hopefully Samo is correct in his post that it opens the first week of October!

Yeah, 14 for now until they move it into the old burger place. I remember back in the day when they moved the 5/10 from the back of the original room near the bar to the front because players would complain about the smoke, and it wasn't even in a smoking section. I don't really hate the smoke per say, but I do remember coming home after only walking through the smoking section and my clothes smelled like cigarette smoke.

I don't know why they decided to put the room on the smoking side instead of the non smoking side. Does that mean smoking is gonna be allowed in the "poker room"? If not, what's the point - it's on the smoking side of the casino. I see a lot of the former regs in other rooms, mostly Parx, and I think they need to make a good first impression in order to get all the players back that they lost but putting the room in a smoking section doesn't help their cause too much.

Not on Friday but I think I will check it out this Saturday. I really miss this place for low stakes poker. I’m very happy it’s coming back.

Ok cool please lmk how the new room is, idk when I'll be able to swing by. I'm interested to know how bad the smoke is there and also if they're spreading 1/2 or 1/3. I sure hope they move up and spread 1/3 which will put them in the same class as Parx and Borgata (and all of DC/MD area) instead of staying at 1/2 like Mt. Airy and MSPD.
