The SB kiosks take cash only. I usually set my bets up before I put any cash in to make sure I still want to go through with it once I actually see it on the screen. If you want to place multiple bets you will need to put the cash in first since you wont be able to 'store' more than one bet before putting cash in. You can wait to print all your bets until your done. If you need CC funds then you will first have to visit an ATM or the cage and pay those fees .. bring cash!

If you do back out of a bet or have a cash balance left over (bet $80 with a $100) you will get a cash receipt (similar to a slot machine) that you 'have to' take to the cage or SB desk (unlike a slot machine where you have the ATM option) and they will give you cash.

Also remember for a parlay bet .. if one portion is a push or voided for some reason the rest of the ticket is still a live bet. I actually had a triple push on a 3-bet parlay a couple weeks ago. I took the bet slip to the cage and they gave me my cash back, 100% of it. I was told that LOTS of parlay tickets never get cashed out due to bettors not realizing that if there's a push that a 3-bet parlay just becomes a 2-bet parlay.

Remember that just like the horse/dog track your betting slip is your lottery ticket .. you lose it, too bad. I walked by a kiosk and there was a betting slip sitting there with no one around .. I just took it to security. You never know who's watching and/or what the rules are. It's not worth getting banned for a 'finders keepers' situation IMO. Plenty of threads on this site about finding stuff (wallet, black chip, slot slip) and what may or may not happen if you try to take ownership of it on various properties. GL

I need a little, no, make that a lot, of help spotting these 'complaints' ..

Well, it was 'fair well' for a lot of poker Players after Saturday's final drawing. Quite a few folks reiterated their intentions to 'self ban' themselves from Gun Lake until poker returns. Certainly with no food, alcohol, low limit table games or other 'amenities' for the time being that makes perfect sense. There were quite a few poker Players who had never set foot in GLake before the poker room opened. I probably had less than 5 visits myself and as long there's poker available on the home game scene I will probably fall into that group .. other than to take 'Granny' down there to play her 'penny' slots.

I would say that the amount of tickets in the barrel were pretty close to normal. And to fit right into the narrative that a raffle wasn't a fair way to go about dispersing these funds .. 2 of the last 3 (biggest) winners were from the scarcely run Sunday limit games.

While the raffle's requirements provided a short term 'gain' to the casino by 'forcing' Players to travel (and give $400 a day in action if they chose to) to obtain raffle tickets, it really fueled the mindset that GLake will have less visitors going forward. There were a lot of Players expressed 'relief' to get away from the daily grind that was endured over the last 7 weeks or so.

There were quite a few, including myself, who were lucky to more than cover their 'expenses' related to the raffle participation. But I was also approached each of the last two weeks by persons inquiry on 'how' I did 'it' when they had as many tickets in the bin as I did. Not much you can say to those folks other than indicate that I can relate to their feelings when it comes to not winning poker related raffles as I felt I had the worst luck when it came to previous 'in room' raffles.

I'll miss seeing a lot of the Players in passing .. and should online gaming be pushed through soon it may be even longer between 'sightings' for some who will be able to play online for much lower stakes from home!

As of today the only reasonable 'live' poker is still in South Bend, IN at Four Winds and that room is getting busier by the week. I had been told that were looking at adding 2-3 more tables in early December somehow with 'approved' spacing. But if you look at Bravo there's daily 1-2 and 2-5 NL with PLO usually going by evening with HH and BBJ.

Whatever your plans are good luck and be safe .. GL

You're a little late to the party. I posted in the Michigan Online Poker News thread THREE hours before your post here. The Mods don't like duplicate posts and since online Gaming and Sports Betting affects the whole state those posts are generally put in the all encompassing thread.

The laws that are now in effect are for intrastate gaming (Michigan only), but there are also potential laws moving forward in the legislature that could allow for interstate gaming 'later'. Search for that thread .. GL

PS .. welcome 72 .. I realize that SB isn't really WM, but that's all we've got to discuss here as far as live casino poker goes. Remember tomorrow .. $500 High Hand, $200 Hot Seats (5x) and usually a 5/10 game to go along with the typical 1/2 & 2/5 NL as well as PLO.

Not to derail from just poker, but I see GLC has betglc.com coming soon when online sports betting becomes legal in MI. You can sign up to get emails from them here: https://gunlakecasino.com/betglc

Probably worth getting on that list to get the initial opening promos?

GLake sports bets are through Parx Casino in PA .. and I see that Parx has offered from $250 to $500 in sign up bonuses in the past so that may be an indicator, never know.

GLake has also set up the sports book online so you can set up your bets before you arrive at the kiosk/desk and just scan your bets 'instantly' for a short processing time.

They are trying, but without poker I can only assume that some of the traffic that has been passing through there has ceased. I'm very interested in how they handle the rollover of Rewards Cards on Jan 1st to see if they 'discount' the required status points in an effort to reduce the effect that CV had on action given. GL

Made a 2nd venture to SBend last Thursday .. They never got PLO going but the 5/10 did run with two 2/5 tables also.

Apparently the first table starts at 9:45 (local knowledge), not 10:00 as shown on Bravo, and they don't start a second Dealer until 10:15.

Obviously in a long line of 'we can manage better than you can' this doesn't seem to make sense, at least on Thursday when they know that traffic is going to come through.

I think the Dealers were more comfortable this time around than they were 4-5 weeks ago when I was there last .. overall a very nice experience once again with plenty of action, except the getting cracked every which way I tried to play. GL

Looks like GLake is trying .. January flyer indicates that you will maintain your current Rewards tier in 2021. They have also reduced the amount of points required to move up or maintain your current level. Table games opened up on Saturday (26th) but no food or drink as of yet.

A few sports bettors have indicated that the App to organize your bets before you get to the casino to place your bets is 'OK' .. no real advertising from them about true online betting as of yet but it's supposed to happen. A few crumbs about Parx not taking/covering the online action so it may be a new party or GLake covering the bets? We'll see. It may be illegal for Parx to cover the action until interstate gaming is signed off by the Governor.

Got texted a $4k PLO stack from SBend on the 26th .. which is pretty incredible since it's a $300 max buy in table down there. I didn't check Bravo to see if they were playing a higher stake. Even still, a nice stack of chips for a casino table .. GL

Posting here because I dont see a Four Winds South Bend thread...

Played there a couple times the past month. Overall impressed. Dealers handling rules well - everyone seems to be honoring mask requirements. Service is adequate for a poker room - occasionally have to get your own beverage.

Was surprised at the action at the 1/2 and 2/5 games. Not sure if thats typical of the place, or if I arrived on good nights, but thought there was a ton.

Do recommend - though I wish that they had a hotel and table games.

Typically Thursday is the best 'week' day while Sat and Sun both prove to be good, even into Sunday night. Thursday probably will have a 5/10 game going by 2PM and I've not really seen it start up on a regular basis any other day. The issue is that once they get to 7 tables then it's pretty much locked in for 'many' hours before a change can be made. I went down for PLO one day and they tried to hold a table for it but just didn't get enough Players to commit .. until they filled it in with NL!

If there's a 2/5 running then typically both that and any 1/2 table will be full of action. This is an outstanding opportunity since there are Players from MI and Chicago area trickling in as well as the locals. Any Player waiting for 5/10 will try to run the 2/5 over via 3bet/River aggression .. and my impression is that most of them think pretty highly of themselves.

The draw on Thursday is that they have a $200 'hot' seat giveaway currently.

There are already three 1/2 and a 2/5 running at 1130 Wed .. go and enjoy!! GL

PS .. There are 3 decent different ways to get there from GR, they all take roughly 2 hours depending on your style of driving. Obv this morning you would have wanted to avoid I196 as much as possible.

What is best route there?

and sounds like you need to get there early thursday to lock up a table before they reach max capacity.
West Michigan Poker Quote

1) I196 to I94 to US31 .. You really need to watch the weather along the lake, but this is the 'best' route on a clear day for sure.
2) US131 to I94 to US31
3) US131 to I90 (toll road) or Indiana 20 west .. You can also wiggle your way on M60 or M12 if you don't mind some 55 mixed in there.

With the casino being at a US31 exit you just need to figure out the best way to approach the south side of SBend for where you live.

Supposedly there is always someone in the room, even though they close all the tables at 6AM. I couldn't get anyone to answer the phone until after 900. The first 1/2 table opens at 945 even though Bravo suggests 1000. Then the next Dealer starts at 1015 for whatever list is the longest. I don't think all the tables were up and running until after Noon, but that may be a staffing issue. 'Pretty sure' you can call up to 2 hours before you arrive .. and you can't wait in the poker room.

A 'standard' Thursday would be 5/10 NL, one 2/5 NL, one PLO and four 1/2 NL, but the last day I was there the PLO never got going with a 2nd 2/5 going instead.

I've had great luck when I've been there .. zero waiting due to PLO or 2/5 starting as I walked in the door. So I really can't say what 'early' means or how long a typical 1/2 NL wait would be .. but yes, I would probably get there by Noon on a Thursday. I think you need to have a minimum of 1 hour of play in to be in the hot seat drawing too. GL

MORE live poker!! But still 2 hours away ..

MGM in Detroit has gotten approval to reopen their poker room .. 5 tables, 8-handed. They are slated for Noon tomorrow, not sure on hours. No food or drink in MGM, but they do supply free water at the exits that you can drink and then come back in.

Greektown is supposed to follow 'soon' and no word on Motor City as of yet.

Latest word is Firekeepers is going nuts since they still have drinks flowing, not sure on food. Possible April return of poker there.

GLake is starting food back up tomorrow, including the 'not self serve' buffet. I assume that drinks start back up as well.

SBend only had 5 tables going last night at 8PM. First time I've not seen them full in a while, but I don't look that much.

Anticipation of online gaming/poker is still there, could be within the next 2-3 weeks.

It's tax season, gotta get all these places up and running!! GL

A late night check of Bravo showed MGM full with one 1/2 (1/3?), two 2/5 and two PLO going .. and only 82 showing on the 1/2 list for that one table!! This morning there's no PLO going and only about 10 Players per list for 1/2 and 2/5.

A check of SBend shows two tables up and running before they even open! One each of 1/2 and 2/5 got going at 945, which is supposed to be a 'locals only' courtesy I guess. 3-5 waiting for both games and a PLO list started.

Online Gaming and Sportsbooks are 'within weeks' of getting the go ahead from Gaming to open their platforms and accept action via web and App. Man, do they want to at least have the Super Bowl to get some revenue from ... GL

PS .. I just called MGM and they only have 4 tables open with a 5th scheduled to start at Noon (so Bravo was not updated). The Floor on the phone didn't know what game was going to open, but (Motor City) Tony was coming in by 1115 to make that decision.

Pretty quiet in here ..

Word is that Firekeepers is clearing out at least a portion of the slots in the poker room in anticipation of a 'soon' reopening. It will be interesting to see how many of the Dealers they can get back.

Gun Lake is back to offering food/drinks. Their sports betting App has been improving but they don't have the clearance to actually book mobile bets as of yet. Both FK and GL are working towards that 'quickly'.

I think the play in SBend has dropped off a bit, but not the action from what I'm told.

Horseshoe posted on FBook that they do intend to bring poker back 'soon' with the thoughts that they will return to a full room with WSOPc events eventually.

Interesting that I've run across zero intel on the HPT tour, but MSPT is still doing what they can .. where they can (mainly Iowa and Vegas). I figured that HPT would try to run a tournament in St Louis, but perhaps they aren't allowing tournaments just yet.

There was a blurb on Twitter that the WPT had sold for around 80-90 million. I assume that includes the Club WPT online 'membership' poker as well. They didn't respond to my attempt to see if Club WPT was being allowed in Michigan now that online poker is allowed. Not sure if they would have to acquire a license or not. GL

I'm hoping keepers comes back as strong if not stronger. It's a well run room. No doubt some of the staff has moved on permanently, but if the managers and some quality dealers make it back, I'll be very happy.

I'm told as "essential manufacturing" I am likely to get the first dose sometime in March or April. Once I'm fully vaccinated, I plan on being back to regular playing.

Do we know how "soon" Firekeepers might get poker back? Did they post that or just word of mouth?
West Michigan Poker Quote

Word = word of mouth from conversation with a person who was in the casino and saw the activity.

Soon = a good way to put off commitment. If you call the poker room and listen to the message the last word is 'soon' .. and it's been the same message since they shut down last year.

Greektown posted that they would open their room 'soon' after MGM did .. still not open.

I can't confirm that the slots are/have been removed, it's only what I was told. I called down there and got a useless 'customer service rep' that would only give me the company line of "Our poker room is currently closed and we haven't been given any updates as to when it will open." They also snottily added that "We change out our slots all the time, so that's probably what was going on." I asked if they had been down that way to see if that was the case .. "No, I don't usually go into that part of the casino."

If you're thinking a post carries more weight .. Horseshoe Hammond posted on Facebook their commitment to poker would continue .. 'soon' .. not yet!!

I think MGM really surprised everyone by opening their room and TBH I'm not sure what the hold up is at Firekeepers (or Soaring Eagle). 'From what I've heard' they are the most active casino in Michigan right now, including a hel-a-va New Year's Eve 'gathering'. Shoot, SEagle has doors to completely control the room.

I wish I had more for you, but I can only offer up what I'm exposed to or dig up. GL
