They could cap the starting lineup at 100 and still have 4 cash tables going. I think most of the poker world would accept that for a Saturday 10-Noon start. But if they think they want to shut down cash tables going into Friday or Saturday night just so they can hold a tournament, then I think they would get some grief from the masses. GL
I am thinking decent in terms of buy in amounts. Hoping they have a range of amounts and not just smaller $10 buy in, $10 rebuy tournaments. Regardless, I am looking forward to it being done and open and very curious to see what kind of volume they get.

SonMoney, opening night is definitely a reason to drink. Tequila shots!!

GL opening delayed until 9/8. Probably some large promotion for that Saturday.

Heard 9/8 last night as well .. Probably don't want to interfere with the Labor Day crowd. Dealers also still don't know how shifts and hours will be assigned.

I'm used to the casino 'I know something you don't know' type of answers to questions, but you would think that details between employer/employee would be a little more exact at this point in time. I doubt they have them on a gag order .. GL

FK 1/2, 2/5 and PLO are all donktastic, so I'm gonna assume GL will be about the same or donkier.

Yeah. I live 10-15 min from GLC so I'll most be more comfortable drinking there opposed to Firekeepers. Can't wait to see what the room looks like-what the promotions are.. hourly comp. I also look forward to playing all the firekeepers dealers who plan on playing there.

Thanks for the updates. It's nice to have an exact date.

I'm glad the general vibe here is optimistic that GL will be busy. If they ran as many tables as FK does on the weekdays, that's a success in my book. Firekeepers should be the bar. I was in GL this afternoon, and it was empty. I think there are gonna be plenty of times where it's only 1 or 2 1-2 games running. Weekends should be really strong for cash games.

I would love to see GL compete with FK and elevate both rooms. However, GL will probably be just a step lower than FK, which is also fine. Kind of like FK would be like Motor City and GL like MGM Grand.

Stopped at GL today ... even got my very own Player's Card ... and there's no effing way they will be ready by Sept 5th. I've never seen a site like that one get turned around in three weeks, but anything's possible I guess. They do knock down and rebuild Taco Bell's and Wendy's in 4 weeks time .. GL

You stood on the slot chair? So Sept. 5th isn't plausible but Sept. 8 is?

My hunch is that construction is not in a hurry, and they're working on a set timeline given to them by GL, in line with dealer and staff training. I'd be surprised if the dealers are 100% ready to go and they're being inconvenienced by an incompetent construction company, one who has done work for GL in the past and seems legit. Have faith.

Where the temporary wall is now, will be mostly glass and the entrance. There's a desk that will be front and center when you walk in. Other than that, it's an empty square with 14 tables to set up, along with a few TV's. What else is there? Carpet, lighting, and cameras? How long does that take? I'm not an expert. What's left to do?

I have family that are regulars at GL, and they tell me during the day they can tell construction is ongoing, and that it's really loud in there when they're at work. Can't be doing nothing in there.

If it is delayed, we're talking a few days to a few weeks. Not a few months. It's been a long wait since the news broke 5 months ago, and I think we're all just ready to play.

1) No, I pushed an unlocked door open until I could put my head inside and looked around for about 45 seconds with none of the 6 or so people inside noticing.
2) Where in my post do I mention Sept 8th? (Answer: No where)

I'm not doubting that throwing manpower at a project like this can create results in a short period of time. I'm just stunned that in an industry that prides itself on the 'wow' factor that it looks more like a sparkler than fireworks right now. Nothing on the walls .. concrete floor with PVC pipes coming out where the tables will be located (like a bunch of uninstalled toilets) isn't very inspiring.

If this were a house, and I've seen plenty of them go up, we'd be playing poker in about 8-10 weeks minimum.

I was getting weekly updates from my wife's grandmother about SEagle and the pace here is uncomparable.

I don't really care when it opens and hopefully my forecasting is proven inaccurate. But for a place that put gobs of money into advertising it's new buffet this is equating out to a new employee bathroom. GL

I'm not really into prop bets. I've made my opinions known. I've never really been into the 'chest thumping' that comes along with prop bets or sports team support. I think it's fun and I'm not really knocking it, it's just not for me.

Stopped at FK yesterday ... I'm realizing more and more how many players actually come from the 131 area .. adding even more interest in how much this will affect the total WM poker scene. Also met one more good Dealer leaving them. He really wouldn't say much at the table but seemed to agree that there was still some questions about scheduling and opening dates.

If there's one thing that GL could try and learn is that when Players want to start a new stake GET IT GOING. It took over 2 hours to get the 2/5 going yesterday when we indicated that 7-handed was just fine. The same 7 Players were on the list ... GL

PLO is juicy at FK right now. Two tables.

I went all-in for $1000 over someone else's $300 all-in and some dead money ($300-400), and someone else called with something like 7542 rainbow (!?!?) and of course beat me.

Nope. Probably going to play Sunday-then sitting out until GL gets running. I was at firekeepers a couple times this past weekend though

That's a horrible starting hand but you do want the action

I didn't want the action, though. Just wanted me and the shorty at showdown which was why I jammed. (I had AA88 double suited - I even flopped the nut flush draw.)

Oh, well. Could have been my biggest live pot yet. Maybe next time. :'(

I was at Gun Lake today for a few hours. It's hard to get a good look of the room peeking through the cracks of the doors, but from what I could tell, it's moving along. I'm so done looking at that white wall, pardoning their dust.

It's gonna be weird at first playing poker at Gun Lake, after years and countless visits without one. It puts GL on a whole new level. It feels more legit. Counting the (alleged) days!

If there is any info in the upcoming Gun Lake mailer, I'll pass that along. Got the Firekeepers mailer the other day. On Monday, Sept. 3rd, there is a "Hot Seat" promo....$1,000 to one person every hour from 10-8, if I remember right. $10K total. MSPT satellites every Friday and Saturday in September. $500 tourney Sept. 30th.

Very glad to see Firekeepers running a lucky seat promo. I think they're good for poker.
