Can't say I blame him. I would have definitely thrown my chips across the room.

FKeepers $500 .. 355 entries, paid 40 .. $30K up top .. impressive multi-female showing (including 3rd) .. Top 2 came from WM charity scene players (no chop) .. Structure was VERY shallow near bubble and into the money for several levels, with average stack always below 20BB, but by the time FT came around it was around 35-40BB average stack. Last year these were $400 and the entries were over 400 if I remember correctly.

Busted Level 13? (6/12k w 1k) with about 80 left ... AIPF w 87s on B (4.5 HJ), hit the flush ... but 4 flush on River takes it Arag!!

As for the 'above' situation .. They were extremely proactive in bringing racks to the tables for table changes and breaks .. even carrying the racks for players. GL

PS .. How were you playing the bounty when all they have is MSPT Sattys on Sat night now? This must have been a few weeks ago?

I used to get comped rooms there all the time but those dried up a couple years ago. The poker room was pretty meh. Not much action and they seat 10 handed. Decent hotel and casino with a good nightclub though. There is probably an old thread buried in this forum.

I witnessed one of my favorite hands ever there. It was probably 8 years ago and I stumbled into a 3/6 limit game. I am pretty sure I was playing with 4 married couples who all knew each other. It seemed like I broke their unwritten rules with my preflop aggression as they all preferred a limp heavy game of poker bingo.

Then one woman raises pre! Gasp the horror! $6 to see a flop! Then the man on her left 3 bets! The insanity! Folds around to the raiser who folds. Face up. KK. 3 bettor shows AA and takes the $19 pot.

King's Room will be running a Monday to Wednesday room at the American Legion on Wilson starting Monday May 21st, the day after I win the MSPT at FKeepers, starting at 3PM. Cash only for now until they see how it goes. This is long overdue (and maybe too late) ... see how it goes. It looks like last hand might be at 1230AM, so a little longer than EBrook if the game keeps going that late.

For those who don't know Wilson (uncommonly known as the 'West Beltline'), there is an exit to I-196 (go west) and the building is very close on the left side of the road past Johnson Park. 28th street (formerly uncommonly known as the 'South Beltline') actually turns into Wilson once you travel past the freeway exit. You can also access Wilson from Three Mile and Lake Michigan Drive (past Lincoln at Meijer). (No, there is no uncommonly known 'North Beltline' .. end of trivia)

I think Eastbrook has been a little slow lately since we are past tax season and the weather is getting better so who knows how this will go when the rooms try to share players. GL

I live near Muskegon and when I go out of town to an unfamiliar area I sometimes use Google Earth to make sure that I know exactly where I'm going. It's pretty amazing when you can look from above and actually zoom in on a small area, or even one intersection, to see exactly where the turns are or what a roundabout looks like.

Made a visit to Gun Lake today. Construction of the new room is ongoing....a new temporary wall has been built, and they were hard at work in there. The wall goes far out, even past the area where people used to sit to eat in the food court. Sounded like they were tearing the old floor out. A row of slot machines were also taken out, and the wall goes into the casino floor.

Exciting times. Can't wait to see it finished.

That is great news! Really looking forward to seeing what kind of tournaments they might be able to host in there.

Here's a little more information about the poker room at gun lake. Does anyone know what kind of requirements the MSPT has for becoming a stop on their tour? Is a 14 table room big enough for one of their events or does it look like they'll mainly have to put on smaller buy in ($40-$50) tournaments?

Nice blurb .. may have to try and remember that site for news! Not sure how they anticipate over 100 jobs from a room that size, but I've never studied staffing like that. It might be a stretch to assume that FKeepers is over 100 in it's fully established room.

MSPT requirements? Not sure, but you can see what FKeepers did to accommodate them ... 26 tables! I would assume that you would need an alternate room (Bingo Hall, event center) that doesn't exist at Gun Lake as of yet. I would also assume that FKeepers has some sort of 'protected' territory with MSPT, but maybe not. IMO the key to showing 'extra' profit from having a brand name tour stop is to 'not' stop the flow of (increased) cash games. You see that FKeepers has all Day 1s starting at Noon now .. just so they can get the cash games up and running quicker.

And as you can see in Milwaukee, they get more entries in the two MSPT $365 'regional' tournaments than the two Main Events they host each year. FKeepers does well enough with the 5th Sunday, alternating 120/240 and the other Friday/Saturday nightly tournaments. (My original point) is that you could get more local players by lowering the entry fee than you would with trying to host a multi-day 'tour' stop event.

I don't think Gun Lake needs to try and draw in too many players from outside the area right away. Word of mouth will spread quick enough in the poker community. With no hotel yet that will be 'damaging' to too much poker expansion as well. GL

Thank you for the link, Chaz. Interesting stuff.

I think the MSPT, HPT, or some big touring event is further down the road for Gun Lake. That's like step 54 when step 1 is simply getting the room open and running smoothly. I would imagine logistics plays a big part in deciding where to have an event. I agree with the original poster that Gun Lake doesn't have the room to hold a big event, and probably won't for a while. They've already spent a lot of money expanding and upgrading. I'm still surprised after all of it, they're building a poker room.

I'm willing to bet that Gun Lake focuses on cash games, and the tournaments don't draw as much as they do at Firekeepers. Could be more like Soaring Eagle in that respect. If I'm wrong, that's cool too. There's room for both.

From the GL poker announcement: "The new poker room will open just prior to the 475,000 square-foot parking structure, which was announced at the end of 2017, with an anticipated completion date of October 2018."

Does this mean the poker room opens in October or the parking structure does? I thought the target date for the poker room was Labor Day?
