Bump ... sort of ...

Woody's had a nice day game going yesterday, although the 1st table wasn't full at 1000 as there were a few no shows. It can be a bit of a crap shoot before 1010 and I don't think we had any bust outs before the 2nd table got going.

Pretty sure the 2nd table was going before Noon and was still full when I left around 230 or so. GL

Very nice 2/5 game at Woody's last night. Certainly a couple of interesting characters and the game finished 5 handed at 130 after a couple of late arrivals, a few busts and cash-outs. In total I think 'only' 17 players game through the table but the game was never lacking. There was probably just under $6K on the table at 100.

With tax season upon us the rooms in the area should be hoppin' the next 10 weeks or so!! GL

I apologize for not posting the Muskegon tournament lineup recently. I've been working on it, but for quite a while the Big Game Room (the company name, like TJs) has been an information black hole.

Several months before the MGCB stopped all advertising, I tried repeatedly tried to get updated information on the tournaments. The owner finally unfriended me on Facebook when I wouldn't stop bugging him about it.

They have nothing in writing. When I go there in person there are no flyers, nothing on the walls, no information of any kind. In the last month I have talked to two dealers, both of whom said that would send me the current lineup and regular updates. I have received nothing from either of them.

I'll go down there in the next couple days and try again.

Sounds like King's Room is getting onto it's feet pretty good. Saturday nights have a very good showing of tournament play and at least 2 cash games. Sometimes running out of chips after 12:00 AM.

Speaking of running out of chips!! Westgate was sold out by 7:30 PM this past Saturday from what I understand.

So if you want to play poker in this post-football and tax season it sounds as if you need to get out by 4:00 PM or earlier or head down to 'Keepers. I've seen 8+ tables on the Bravo App on Friday and Saturday nights down there. GL

Day cash at Woody's has been very good ... even a hint of needing a 3rd table on some days and nights lately ... Tax season ... !!

Got my brains beat at King's Saturday night but happy about when the money went in.

1) Flop top 2 (A42) and guy shoves into me with A2 ... 2 on River
2) Flop AK (AJ8) and guy goes runner-runner flush with J6
3) Flop flush (K94) and guy calls 2/3 pot bet on Flop and shoves Turn (4) with KT .. hits K on River
4) Flop set of 5s (854) in SB 4 ways .. Bet pot Flop and 2/3 pot Turn (7) .. fold to River (7) shove after checking. Winner shows 78 after getting called by A6

Like I said .. I have no issue as to when I put my money in ... just the results!! GL

I play that Saturday tournament about twice a month and I think I will be there this Saturday.

Great poker action anywhere in GR right now. If you play .. you need to be out there right now!!

Rooms are running out of chips so make sure you call ahead to see how chips sales are going before you drive out somewhere.

Couple of good showings down at CPC with Internet Jake (ME) and Joel T (Event 11) finishing in the Top 20 of these decent sized events. Ex Woody's dealers Casey and Chris were also involved in some final table cashes in the earlier events. GL

Woody's Thursday 2/5 is crazy right now. If you want to play a bigger game, then try it out. The table plays 8 or 9 handed and last night the charity was almost sold out with only 11-12 players coming through the table.

Horrific night for me, but those happen ... Lost 5 huge hands. 3 with sets, one with an over-pair and one on a VERY wrong read.

2 players that were both into the game for over $1800 each came storming back. One posted a win and the other broke even. One of them changed his luck by paying 1.5 to 1 by calling a shove with 95 on a Q94 board and the other paid about the same price to hit a flush ... 'never folding' when stuck was the excuse.

These are the type of players you want at your table ... come join!! GL

Looks like some Muskegon action is filtering to Westgate. There were some new faces and it sounded like they had ties to 'the coast'.

Finally booked a couple of wins there Sat and Sun. Just have to play differently there I guess .. and have the mind set to do so. GL

Very possible. Muskegon only has room, which means we only have poker four days a week. Also, there are lakeshore cities such as Holland, Grand Haven and Spring Lake that are roughly equidistant from Grand Rapids and Muskegon, and I know several of those players who play in both Grand Rapids and Muskegon.

Can anybody tell me if any of the GR rooms run non-holdem games and when?

Start setting your calendars to head to FireKeepers the next 6 weeks. Fridays have $65 qualifiers (20% to $250 Sat) at Noon and 6:30 PM. Saturdays have a $65 at Noon and a $250 at 6:30. Plus the normal $120/240 series of tournaments on Sundays.

They have had some staff adjustments recently but I'm not sure if it has effected play or not. The BBJ is at $20K so it must have been hit recently. AAAJJ beat by quads or better hits more often than MCC's tighter qualifier. GL

There is a 1-3 RxR at Woody's (Rounders) on Monday nights. Call in to 616-588-2192 after 10 AM on Monday to get on the list. This game (7 PM, don't be late) usually fills and might only seat 15-16 players on any given night. Don't let the $300 max BI fool you as this game runs deep ... usually selling at least $12K in chips.

There are no other PLO cash or tournaments in the GR area that I know of ... at charity rooms. The next closest PLO action would be at FireKeepers (Mon, Thur and Sat) or Soaring Eagle (Fri). Of course a casino will spread it whenever there are enough players, but those days are usually a lock.

Let me know if you need more information .. GL

A few weeks ago the tournament director at Northway Lanes (Muskegon) said that they now offer PLO cash when there enough players interested. I'm strictly a tournament player and I know almost nothing about cash games other than what I've read and I don't really pay attention to them. It would be best to call the Muskegon poker number if you have any questions. It's (231) 955-8069.

If I'm going to be in the Benton Harbor/St. Joseph area on a random weekend and want a few hours of poker (1/2 NL or a small tournament is fine), what are my best options? Is Michigan City IN as close as anything?

Four Winds hasn't had poker in years .. and AmeriStar closed their room as well. Blue Chip has 1/3 action but would still be a drive for you.

There is a charity room in Niles .. Joey Armadillo's .. I think it's a restaurant/bowling alley spot (like most charity rooms). I was unable to play there the day I was down there because they didn't open until later in the afternoon.

You can also use the "Millionaire Party Locator" on the Michigan.gov site and pull up both cities and counties to see where the licenses are pulled for given dates. GL

Finally had a better 2/5 Thursday ... after an initial set back to an OESD ...

Still room for a little bit more action .. about $12K sold last night with a couple of cash n dashers mixed in there (don't blame them).

Huge weekend for me now at FKeepers with wifey/kids on Spring Break ... see if we can keep this week going strong. GL

I played at Kings Room in Grand Rapids last night. I was asked to let everyone know that the 7 P.M. Saturday $50 freezeout that used to have 40K starting chips was changed in March. Starting stack is now 25K.

Great weekend at FKeepers for me. Top 5 all time weekend profit for sure. I definitely seem to play better when I have set aside the time to play and don't have to worry about getting back to work or family. (Family on Spring Break due to work commitments this week.)

I played both tournaments and cash and really saw no drop off in 'game flow' from any of the dealers (except one who has been an issue since inception). This is very good news heading into MSPT season since they did have some turnover. A couple floors were back at the tables as well for short spans.

We had a 2/5 RxR going from Friday night through 6:30 Saturday morning as well as 2 1/3 PLO games going Saturday night through 3:30 AM. I even noticed some pretty big 1/2 stacks for that room this weekend. I think the one issue for players who want to play bigger is that you don't know what may be spread during any given weekend. I prefer RxR but will swing either way.

The first $250 was a little smaller than I expected with only 12 getting 'golden' tickets (13th got $660) and it was a pretty tough field IMO. Both of the $65s I played in were very soft.

Off to Milwaukee for MSPT this weekend. Not sure when I can pull out of Michigan yet .. hopefully Thursday so I can play a $250 and get a feel for how folks play 'over there'.

I will certaily be at MCC next week if the BBJ is still going strong. GL

Here's a preview of Milwaukee: most of the rec players are by and large worse than the rec MI players. Still will run into the traveling "pros" and some better regs. But don't be too shocked by the atrocious play. Get into the cash games and don't bother with the qualifier IMO

Sounds good to me .. Made more than my FKeepers (and Milwaukee) BI playing cash anyway. I just need to put my brain in tournament mode a bit, but I agree that cash is good over there from my previous trip.

(I just want my favorite announcer to say "ST3 got into this thing for $65/250 bucks" when my wife is watching the stream Sunday night) ... GL
