Does Gun Lake have bigger games during the weekend?

MP .. Welcome .. GLake 'can' get a 2/5 NL game going on Fri/Sat afternoon/evening as well as a 'list' game on Monday nights. There 'may' be a 5/10 (PLO or RxR) table going on Friday nights as well. This is also a 'list' game where a whole bunch of Players will all call in within minutes of each other to fill the list. The Floors have a little more knowledge of the Monday game than the Friday game. I've found the 2/5 game to be pretty tight early but can (if it runs for more than 4-5 hours) get pretty crazy later into the night.

Generally you should find plenty of action in the 1/2 NL games with multiple stacks plus/minus 800 deep on weekends and the evening/overnight 1/2 PLO game has more action than anyone would wish for ... even the day game will get pretty deep depending on who shows up when. In what might be considered very much unexpected I believe that GLake has had at least 1 PLO table every day since it opened last September.

Don't let the blinds fool you ... PLENTY of chips flowing at GLAKE. GL

Thanks answer20! I used to grind a lot at Firekeepers and then moved for work. Now I'm back and there are more options. Thanks for the info!

What are the qualifying hands for the BBJs at Firekeepers, Gun Lake, and Four Winds SB? Anyone know all three?

It appears that all 3 of these rooms are 'Quads loses' rooms currently.

FKeepers ... $48K ... hit in mid Feb
GLake ... $102K ... hit late Jan
FWinds-SB ... $127K ... hit once since opening their room

I didn't realize that FWSB was that high until I checked Bravo. Might have to make a visit down there some time. I've heard that you can try to get some chips off your 'favorite' GLake Floors in that room from time to time ... might be worth a look see!! GL

GLake will be starting their St Patrick's Day (Sunday) promotion Monday 'morning' at 12 AM with Players earning tickets into the Sunday drawing during the week.

Any Full House or better in NL will get a ticket in the drawing. $500 given away every 30 minutes from 11 AM to 10 PM (?) on St Pat's Day. Must be present to win ... your ticket will not be returned to the drum if it's pulled and you aren't there to claim the prize in 5 minutes.

Any AAATT or better in PLO will get a ticket with $500 given away every hour during the same time frame ... same rules. I suggested that try to add any Flopped Full House to the qualifying in an effort to increase the tickets in the drum ... not sure if Gaming could approve a change that fast.

Unfortunately you will not be able to earn tickets during the drawing time frame per Gaming. Seems pretty lame but I'm not in that loop.

IMO there 'should' be a very much increased interest in PLO this coming week since the number of tickets in the drum is bound to be far less than NL ... GL

Still time to get in on the St Pat's day promo at GLake. Both NL and PLO will have drawings on Sunday from 11 AM to 10 PM. Get your tickets by holding any Full House or better in NL or AAATT or better in PLO. Unfortunately you can't accumulate tickets during the drawing period, so you need to get some hours in before Sunday at 11 AM.

Your odds at PLO ($500) will be much better even though those drawings will be hourly. The NL drawings ($250) will be every 30 minutes but they are estimating at over 900 entries in the kitty. The trick will be who is actually in the room as your ticket is dead and tossed away after 5 minutes without claiming it ... drawings could overlap!!

Every room is different, at FKeepers you needed to be playing at the time of the drawing whereas for this one you only need to be present. GL

PS ... I'm still not sure the amount for NL ... I think it was $500 per drawing, but some have been saying $250 as well.

Great turnout at GLake for the Sunday Raffle. I think all the tables were full once they called in Dealers early. There were 11 tables going already at 1100 for the first drawing.

A good source indicated there were 99 PLO tickets and from what I could remember it took about 40 pulls to get the 12 winners. NL probably had more missing names pulled, but not as bad as I thought it might be for around 700 tickets and 24 winners.

There were quite a few people whose name was called twice, but there were only two actual double winners since some of those folks weren't in the room at the time of the draw. The Player who won the first NL drawing couldn't get his chips cashed out fast enough so he could get out of the room with his winnings in tact!! GL

Tournament Players have two choices for Sunday March 31st if they aren't on Spring Break. GLake (1100 AM, 20K chips) has the $340 black chip bounty and FKeepers (Noon, 40K chips) has the $500. Pretty sure that both have a single re-entry ... but GLake is only the first two levels whereas FKeepers is through Level 8 normally.

MSPT sattys start this weekend at FKeepers. GL

The one at Gun Lake will be 25-30 people MAYBE.. Firekeepers will be a huge field.. so pay the extra but everyone knows this

With that date being a Spring Break Sunday it could tilt numbers either way, but probably down. GLake is already talking about moving that tournament to being a 1st or 3rd Sunday since it may deter Players from driving to FKeepers for their $120. GL

I do know that a few Players are glad they scheduled to come home on Saturday instead of Sunday ... as in Freeroll Sunday April 7th. They will not be around on March 31st.

I'm not sure the word to use, but I did check Bravo on both Thanksgiving and Christmas to see how GLake was doing ... and they did get a PLO game going on both dates.

Obviously Vegas is pretty holiday immune but I didn't know for sure how it would go locally. GL

Home stretch for hours at GLake ... should be under 12 more to go. What's surprising is that I've moved so far up the list on the touch screen. There are 34 names listed per screen and when I scroll and put #68 on the bottom of the screen that person is around 170 or so. That's a lot of poker to be played in 10 days for most Players.

Obviously it can be done with two weekends in there but I just don't agree with some of the chatter that there will be 80 in the freeroll. I really don't think we can count on 100% attendance either.

Interesting that when I looked at Bravo Friday night late that it showed 16 on the waiting list for 5/10 PLO and yet I was told that it ran short-handed most of the night. GL

Played at Hollywood Toledo last night for an hour. Easy game filled with soft spots. They require a players card to play which I don't like.. heard a dealer ask for a tip which annoyed me. $200 max buy in which makes game rather small. Huge casino too but barely anyone gambling

1) easy, soft ... yes ...
2) Players Card? Been there many times without one, perhaps new policy or just making sure you can win a high hand.
3) Yes, there are a couple Dealers that ask for tips ... very different
4) You probably weren't there long enough to changes tables, but they make you go down to $200 if you change tables ... legal going south, very strange and supposedly came from a SEagle Floor they hired.
5) Yes, even on a weekend I'm surprised at how uncrowded this place is .. tough times in their industry I guess .. and they have a college fairly close by. GL

If a dealer ever asked me for to tip, I would not tip and I'd educate him how his job is too shut up and deal.. I would have walked out upon switching tables if they made me lower my stacm to $200.

As one of the floors of this room I would like to apologize if a dealer had asked you for a tip. We certainly do not encourage or tolerate this type of behavior and if you can provide some more insight on this situation I will make sure it gets addressed and never happens again. Let me buy you lunch from the Take 2 Grill next time you visit.

This is unfortunately part of our slow season but if you'd like to come back this Friday or even next Saturday, we'll have plenty of action as it's one of our three monthly High Hand days, paying out $500 every half hour.

This is inaccurate, we require players to take their entire stack with them for a table change. If they are trying to move to a table that has been open for less than an hour and they have over $200, they must wait an hour.

GL at the tables.

I'm not going to say which dealer it was but he also was a little too talkative and joking around too much- I will say all the dealers after just dealt the game BUT did not control the game.. weren't vocal when players acted out of turn. One dealer also couldn't explain how much rake/promotion money was portioned.. I don't expect the room to be crazy busy on a Tuesday night and I do want poker to be a fixture in any casino I visit..

Thanks for some insight SpT ... I like the idea of 'protecting' a new table. I've seen similar policy at Poto in Milwaukee. Well done if this is a modification of the policy I stated before. Is it possible that Columbus has the policy I stated?

In my limited visits to Toledo (12-15) I've always felt that the Players were catered to a bit more than other casinos I've been to.

I like the room and really the whole casino is 'fine' ... I just think with Toledo being a touch smaller that Player traffic is a bit shallower. GL

Great freeroll tournament at GLake yesterday. 80 of the 82 eligible Players showed up and worked their way to the FT, paying 10 Players from the prize pool. 10th was $300 and 2nd was $4500 from what I remember.

A daytime PLO reg who has been playing at Woody's and Eastbrook for years took down the WSOP ME seat. MS is not really known for tournament play but things fell into place for him Sunday!!

I made it down to 13th before exiting on a cooler in what could've been a massive pot that would have allowed a lot of flexibility going to FT. We are 7 handed and MP opens. CO starts to tank ... and tank ... counts out chips then kinda moans that they "just got these" chips via double up from the MP and folds. I snap 'all-in for less' from the B with KK and off we go against 99. The Board promptly 4-flushes on the Turn and I'm drawing dead. (By the way ... the CO folded QQ, not sure the suits) I was only all-in 'at risk' twice and go 1-1 for the day.

From what I remember MS was at risk and crushed after we got down to two tables. He survived an AK v his KQ spot by Turning a Q. Gotta survive some of those to win a tournament .. he did at least once. I left and didn't see any of the FT play.

There's another Full House raffle going on this week with the drawings all day Sunday again ... have fun. GL

I also made a trip to Westgate last week. Things seem to be going well there with 3-4 table tournaments and cash.

I've not been to Eastbrook or King's in some time due to the hours being put towards the GLake freeroll ... we'll see how the schedule dictates where I play. I do know that GLake wants to do another 'hours' challenge but they're just not sure what the prize would be yet. (Maybe a seat in the WPT Deepstack at MCC in August?) GL
