(Are you talking about Ryan Feldman?)

I wish I had his bankroll right now.

Seriously, though, abandon NLHE for PLO. We gotta get PLO poppin' in MI.

1) PLO has been poppin' in GR area for at least 18 months. All the homes games play RxR just to slow down the action a little to make the games go longer. GLake has had at least 4 hours of PLO going every day since they opened on Sept 7. There were two tables of 1/2 PLO last night through Midnight I think .. don't remember when I looked at Bravo.

2) Ryan Terpstra had quite the night for only 'really' playing 6-7 hands in four hours.
A) Correctly folded AAxx to a Flop Donk bet
B) Incorrectly (?) folded on Flop with 97xx and would've turned a 9. Another Player had flopped a straight so he was crushed
C) Ended up chopping a pot when a guy made a pretty weak Turn call
D) Won a big pot with a set of tens
E) 'Correctly' (?) folded AKQ9 PF when some bingo started ... but he thought he was against AA (and he 'just' got these chips!) As it turns out the guy was crushed but Flopped trips, good fold ..
F) Sat on hands for an hour and then attempted to get everyone drinking
G) Got the right guy drinking and survived middle set of 7s v straight/flush draw for largest (and basically the last) hand of the night. The loser goes on a rant about the no RIT policy and that the Dealer wouldn't rabbit hunt the second Board so Terp and he could cut a side deal.

Very happy that Terp had this opportunity and after a short-handed pretty nitty first hour got to really enjoy the event ... of course who doesn't enjoy a winning session? GL

Is this new? People were running it twice when I played PLO a few weeks ago.

I just tried out the Bravo app. Gun Lake now has $55 MTTs at 1100 Monday through Wednesday.

I told them that I would have to drive farther than their posted distance of 89 miles to play at a casino in Milwaukee. I live less than 5 miles from Lake Michigan, so that number would be about right if I could catch a boat ride across the lake. The drive would be 289 miles according to Google Maps.

Niediam ... I was referring to when Terp played on Live at the Bike in CA, not GLake where you can RIT but it voids all promos (HH, BBJ) ... just make sure they put the drop back in the pot!

PClif ... Bravo uses 'as the crow flies' measurements. You can go into Bravo and override the GPS listings by inserting a 'preferred' zip code and/or you can make certain casinos 'favorites' (gold star) and those will appear at the top of your listing regardless of where you happen to be standing. The 'mileage' will still show up but you can train your brain to ignore it.

First time in a very long time that I chose a home game over GLake last night ... just didn't feel like the extra drive. They actually had a 1/2 Big O (5 card) going into the morning hours. GL

On 12/12 at 1800 there will be a hearing on a new casino, which would be built in Fruitport Township near Muskegon, with plans to be open in 2020. I am going to the meeting to make a pitch for a poker room. The other Little River Casino in Michigan closed their poker room. The nearest casino to me with a poker room (I live in Muskegon Township) until recently was 100 miles away. Gun Lake is closer, but it's still 70 miles. My drive to Fruitport Township would be 16 miles and for those living in the city of Muskegon it would be even less. This a very big deal for those of us on the Lakeshore.

This 'Federal' hearing is to gather the public opinion about any concerns over the environmental impact the casino may have in the area ... water, ground, traffic noise and such.

Although your opinion will most likely be viewed in a positive manner towards the project. Your specific plea/support about poker will be directed towards the wrong ears at that stage of the project.

Once the land is 'in trust', next year some time, you need to ring the ear of the tribe in hopes that they include a poker room in the building design and gaming proposal they present to Michigan Gaming.

Not an expert by any means, but from the information I have poker is treated as a separate entity/group at GLake by Gaming. That could be due to the timing or some other legal/regulatory issues I'm not totally versed on.

Most of these hearings are pretty dry, so any amount of public support/comment will be welcome. The project already has the support of the economically driven entities that understand your 'quandary' of having to go long distances for this type of activity.

The tribe may have hesitations about poker from their other venues, but all they need to do is look at the success GLake has had, but with tapered expectations. This may impact your wheel house, being tournaments, but if they would at least sneak a 8-10 table room in the design that would be a start.

There has been plenty of 'lake shore' action at GLake in the last month or so, especially at PLO. We'll see if the bankrolls can survive that level of action. GL

Wow, you know a lot about this topic. I will take your advice under advisement. I'll go the hearing and play it by ear. I will take notes and report back to thread. I will do that on the West Michigan Poker Facebook forum as well. We want to get the fish excited about playing there.

Regarding player bankrolls, I have watched $100 tournaments at Northway Lanes (Muskegon) and wondered how many buy-ins those players have in their bankroll. I would guess that the mean number is somewhere between 1 and 5.

Another topic of interest: A few hours before the tournament my wife and I are going to see the movie "Instant Family." The story is very much like our own. We went to an adoption agency and said that we wanted to adopt two children. We were told that the process would take about a year. About two months later they called and asked if we would consider a sibling group, three brothers ages 6, 8 and 9. A couple weeks later they were living with us. The adoption became official a year later.

This is one of the easier things in life to accomplish ... just get it in bad with the pot over $400 and you will be able to check this off your (bucket?) list.

They aren't the best at putting the tournaments up on Bravo, but I haven't really looked myself either ... not much day time poker lately for me. GL

PLO BBJ hit at GLake on Monday. I don't have many details ... reset was a bit over $7k

Heard that there's some potential transition at King's Room. I've said for a very long time that the success of a charity room requires an on-site owner/operator. If everything that needs to get done gets through the State I think there is still a viable market for charity poker in WMich ... maybe until 2020 if the Muskegon casino puts in poker (which it's not slated to do yet). What app/website is it that I see a lot of MI regs playing on their smartphones (and how do I get on it)?

I've been meaning to ask someone for a while now.

Yes. One of the last time I played PLO at FK, three of the regs at the table were playing it and talking about the other regs who also play on it. I'm seeing it more and more now.

Seems like it's limited to a local player pool, as opposed to the entire Internet.

I would love to play on it, especially if it has small stakes PLO.
