Had the chance to play 1/2 NLHE at GLC three times in the past three weeks. The room is excellent, and the comp of 500 points per hour is nice not only for the $1 equivalent but because it counts toward other promos and drawings as well. The high hand promo is fun, the fact that it rolls over is friendly, and awarding multiple prizes for ties is very generous.
It's been all good as far as I am concerned: Dealers have been noticeably excellent, the floor has been solid, food options are good, waitstaff is fine, self-serve drinks right in the room is surprising and welcomed, and the many TVs have been nice during college football weekends. Level of play has been beatable -- anyone willing to play a hand for $2 is generally willing to play it for $12-$17 as well. Bluffs need to be very well-timed to get through with this crowd.
Big Beat Jackpot was over $100K as of Friday night. Saw a couple of people getting massages and others taking advantage of food service. Fellow players were generally agreeable and pleasant to be around.
Personally, I don't get to play very often with three kids and a busy work schedule, but when I do, I can't imagine choosing a local charity game over GLC anytime soon.
