Woof, once again Uncle Sam is the big winner of the WSOP Main Event.

Cynn loses about 44% of his winnings. 8.8 Million turns into 4.9 million.

For Manion, his prize goes from 2.8 down to 1.6. Then his 46.5% means he pockets $744,000.

Great money, but you end up not even being a millionaire after taxes/backing/swaps.

Back to pushing for September at GL. They are still hiring and want more Dealers ... LOTS of Dealers ... so they can be prepared for the expected rush without taxing the staff (and weeding out those that aren't ready for prime time).

With the increased interest in PLO it will be interesting to see what they can sustain down there on a weekly basis. One source says 1-2 ($300 cap), 2-5 ($500 cap), 5-10 ($1500 cap) and 10-20 (unlimited). If they are going to cap 2-5 at $500, then the 1-2 should be capped at $200 so the $2-5 actually runs, just like at Motor City. Or just go to 1-3 and skip the 2-5 stake.

Although I do like the diversity of a charity room $40-300 game, I think the games would be even better if you can separate the two groups of players. GL

Needs to be 1-2 with a $300 cap for PLO, b/c they will have a $5 bring in I'm sure. $200 max BI at that stake is just too small. Then put 2-5 at $500, let 5-10 be match-the-stack with initial BI of $1500, and 10-20 Uncapped.

I'd be more involved with 2-5 if the buy in is $500 max. I have played 2-5 with 1000+ buy in but wasn't always comfortable with buying in for that. I do hope this room is somewhat classy, it will just add to lore of non-poker players looking into the room.

I see on Bravo that Firekeepers is running a promo on Wednesdays this August. It says $27,000 is up for grabs. Does anyone have any details on what this is? High hands? Lucky seats?

Did a quick thread search with no luck.

Can anyone give me some info on the fifth Sunday 500 at firekeepers? Like how mannish entrants has it been getting? Does it sell out? How early should I register to get a seat? Thanks in advance.

I'd either show up a couple hours early or register days before. I'd say 300+ runners.

Register way ahead of time.

The $500 should draw 350+ entries. If you want to have a seat at the start of the tournament (10:00) then I would make sure you register by 830-845 Sunday morning, if not earlier. You can call the room Sat night to see where they are at .. lots of the Players from the Sat night tournament pre-pay for Sunday also. So a call to the room Sat night at 9 PM or so will give you a good idea how early on Sunday you should get there. They usually shut down the cash tables so that puts 230 runners in the seats at the start.

I believe they are giving away $4500 each Wed and $9000 on the last Wed with 'entries' earned for each hour you play starting Aug 1st. You must be playing at a table when the drawing occurs each Wed, but you can earn entries 7 days a week. Obviously the regs will have tons of entries on that last Wed when they draw 2 winners at each time slot. So this is similar to a slot/car giveaway in that the more you play the larger your chance is to win against the field. GL

Another great day at FK .. Tournament drew 415 entries, record by 1. 6-way chop at the end with all players getting between 2nd and 3rd place money.

The Wednesday drawings start at Noon and go every so often after. I forgot to take a picture of the poster, double drawings on the 5th Wednesday. Of course the later in the month the more entries the regs will have so you may want to consider heading out this week or next. Entries are not active unless you are logged into Bravo 15 minutes before ... which means 'actively' playing at a table. GL

GL still pushing for Sept. It will be interesting how quickly they get something up on Bravo to let us know what they are planning. Interesting information about how they are placing Dealers on shifts ... I've heard it's more of a lottery system than 'talent' at the beginning. Of course they are hiring 'too many' Dealers and then will weed out the ones they don't want. But a good Dealer may have to wait a month or two before sliding into a shift/hours that they would prefer. Not really the way I would handle but it does keep the blood off their hands if a good Dealer does end up on 'overnights' by chance, and not by choice of the management. GL

It ran .. then it broke. Anything else?

I would guess that the reg Stud Players are looking for anyway to get new blood into their game and the 'addition' of the NL round may do that. I've never played but my assumption is that it's a Nit-fest that will probably tear up most new comers. (It's also a great way to get your hours in with less hands being dealt to keep your card status!!) GL

Thanks for the updates. It's good to know that GL will be able to run a full room when it opens, and keep the waiting lists low. I sure hope in the month of August, there will be more details revealed about the room. There was nothing in the August mailer. How does it usually work at other casinos opening a room?

I'm unsure the FK promo will draw recreational players, but it's something.

Make sure you download the Bravo App on your phone and then keep checking for Gun Lake to pop up. Hopefully they put stuff up on Bravo a couple weeks out at least. Their room is supposed to be signed up with Bravo.

Sometimes casinos will have a soft/low profile opening so that their regs can enjoy the room before the masses start to show up. If they are ready 'early' then I can see them doing that without any announcement. Then perhaps, hold the 'grand' opening Labor Day weekend or whenever.

It will be hard to keep anything a secret for too long. GL

The only way it could is if they advertise it periodically over the P.A. system and emailed player's card holders.

Nice day at FK yesterday. Got there early to max out my entries and was lucky the overnight table was still 4-handed. The monkey didn't find my name on the first three drawings and I headed out.

The table I was at eventually heated up after a bit and then we converted it over to a 1/3 NL so others could come in and match stacks if they wanted. I wasn't real happy that I had to leave as the table was just getting to where I would've liked it to be, but the run good for this week continued in a couple of hands and my allotted time was up!

The wait lists were under control but I think they will need to add Dealers each week for this promotion. Our table was very hot for High Hands as well with the 200 being passed around three different guys. Then we had a Q-high St-flush .. that got tied .. and then beat by a Royal at a different table for the 600 HH. The 200 was a $500, but unfortunately I think the guy who won it lost almost that much waiting for the payout.

Are you running good or playing well? That is always the question ... I think a little of both. I think I was saved by my schedule a bit too ...

Last Orbit Hand: Pretty normal 1/3 PF, not sure if I opened with 56 or called someone else's from late position. Flop = 789 (HELLO!!) Checks to me and I 1/3 pot it, T-shirt Ron flats and then a guy shoves for about $165. THEN .. a FK reg jams in $450!! What would you do?

Of course this is supposed to be a no-brainer. But I'm just about ready to leave and who wants to lose this pot at that time? I evaluate everyone and eventually fold (and show) and the table goes nuts of course. The obvious spot is that someone has 99 and the 9 hits and we are all a bit gitty for the BBJ. Is our straight good? Is our heart draw more than 2 outs?

As poker players we are supposed to play just to happen upon these hands once a blue moon ... I folded ... The Board blanked out ... The FK reg showed the nut straight of JT, no heart. The legend of ST3 continues ...

Guy on my right is blown away that I fold there and yet called his 'obvious' 3-bet with KQ and flushed his set (of Queens, QT6 Flop) on the River.

This amazing game and how one decision can affect a session in the most dramatic ways!! GL

By respectable size I hope you mean big enough to hold some decent tournaments

I've heard 14 tables (maybe 12) .. not sure what you mean by 'decent'. Although the more the merrier when it comes to the prize pool, tournaments should be judged by their structure not so much the number of entries.

They could cap the starting lineup at 100 and still have 4 cash tables going. I think most of the poker world would accept that for a Saturday 10-Noon start. But if they think they want to shut down cash tables going into Friday or Saturday night just so they can hold a tournament, then I think they would get some grief from the masses. GL

Opening day at GL will be a celebration for me. To drink or not to drink that is the question. Also what do you think the level of competition will be compared to Firekeepers?
