Hi everyone. As you can see, we are moving the discussions of Texas Poker Rooms to the Venues and Communities Forum. I’m pleased to have the opportunity to rejoin the moderator group as a mod in the V&C and CCP communities.

While Texas poker rooms continue to operate in a so-called gray area, it is clear that they have come out of the “underground room” environment they once occupied and are operating out in the open now. As such, the Texas Poker Rooms will be treated in this forum the same way as any other poker room. We will have the following structure of threads for Texas Poker Rooms:

Texas Poker General Discussion Thread

This thread will be for discussions of the overall state of poker in Texas. Topics such as developments in the political/legal situation of poker in Texas; questions/issues with the Membership model of card room operations; discussions of the growth or decline of poker rooms statewide; and any other news/gossip/questions one may have about poker in Texas.

Regional Poker Threads

These threads are for discussion of news/events in a particular region, as well as a place to ask questions about poker in that area. This is also the place for discussions about the smaller card rooms that do not warrant an individual venue thread. The initial areas that will have Regional Threads are:

Dallas/FW Area Poker
Austin Area Poker
Houston Area Poker
Other Texas Areas Poker

Individual Venue Threads

Designated rooms will have dedicated Venue Threads for discussion of their activities and events. I would like your help in determining which rooms are large enough or popular enough to generate enough discussion to support their own thread. Please give me your input as to which rooms you feel should be designated for their own threads. Please use the format already in use for other venue titles in V&C:

Name of Card Room (City, State)

Then write a quick blurb on why you think it should be included. I will decide which rooms initially will have venue threads; but the list is always open for additions or deletions as the situation sorts out.

I believe these changes will facilitate the discussions of Texas Poker in the forum. It will take a little while to shake things out once we get the new threads up and running. I encourage anyone who had additional input or concerns about Texas Poker to comment in this thread, or message me. I value and appreciate poster input, and hope many of you will contribute your ideas to the forum.

The Lodge (Round Rock, TX)

It has over 80 tables and they're working on expanding further. They host a monthly monster meetup with a 500K guaranteed tournament, have The Lodge Live Stream and are partially owned by Brad Owen, Andrew Neeme and Doug Polk. A very popular venue and I believe the largest in the entire state. They have almost double the tables that we have here at the Tampa Hard Rock which has its own dedicated thread.

Wow, this thread has taken a downward turn since its move. Any news on the Houston poker scene lately? I haven't been out for a bit as I've heard about numerous incidents of shootings at or near the poker rooms
