I'll be in Seoul to visit and would like to play some poker (5/10+ NL). Where/when is the best place to find a game? Walker Hill? COEX? 7 Luck? Thanks.

I dont know about the underground games, but walkerhill/7luck both runs 1/2 with occasional 2/5. I doubt you will find anything higher, games still play really deep as far as i remember.

If you want to go to 7luck COEX, i'd say you'd have to be there by 2 Pm to get in the game - there is only one table. and it is 2/5 but by the evening it gets deep and people are sitting with 3k USD each. Mind you if you put the most money on the table, some of the old guys will most certainly add=on to have to covered.

Walker Hill runs 1/2 every day but it really is a 2/5 game with 100-1000 buy in but there really isnt a cap , if no one objects

Can anyone provide a rake update for all (or some) of the Seoul poker rooms?

I think for 2/5 it was 10% up to 15K won

1/2, 2/5 at WH is 10% up to 15,000 with 1,000 taken out per 100,000 in the pot for BBJ up to 2,000. So maxed rake pot is 17,000 . the Bad Beat Jackpot got up to 30,000,000 plus so it's not so bad I guess. But the rake is high to begin with .
5/10 is 10% up to 20,000

Coex 2/5 is 20% to 20,0000

Just read on WH's facebook page that the taxi fare reimbursement $ is done away with. They are putting this money into the bbj instead.

Do you play with USD or the Korean Won for poker (both for cash and tournaments)?

I'm visiting for a few weeks and want to play some live poker and thought getting money exchanged here would save $$ on the exchange rates and such.

Thanks.

Do you guys have any comment on the games running there, the stakes/straddle going on and if there is collusion or not over there ?
Cheers

I played there middle of July. They only have 4 tables and with only 1 table running continuously (poker room opens at 3pm, 24 hrs weekends). On the weekends, they have 2-3 tables running with 1-2 and 2-5 games.

A lot of the players are korean and they all seem to know each other, dealers, and waitress. Also seems like the room uses one or two "house player" to keep the games filled up.

Rake is 10% up to 15k KRW so it's pretty steep. they do use straddles, including button straddles.

There's plenty of action and so it's pretty hard to bluff as you'll get called down. so if you have a good hand, you'll most likely get paid off.

that was my experience.

I was there yesterday, so the game is... interesting? Games are 1-2 normally, button straddle allowed. In terms of play, sometimes there are a few spots on the table (i.e out of town businessmen), either very call happy or would take weird lines with their hands...

Aside from those noticeable spots, most players are solid, play ABC poker, or regs, so to speak. Not sure if they are grinders, but they don't make massive mistakes pf.

One big difference here is that the game gets very deep stacked late at night. Last night, towards 10pm-ish, everyone at the table was playing 300-500BBs deep. (I don't think there's a Max buy-in in this game, so a lot of players bought in for 1K to start last night)

I would say that I KNOW at least a few players last night had no business playing that deep, myself included, and I didn't stay long enough to find out about the others. But I'd imagine for all you 5/10 players out there, you can easily buy in for 1k and straddle every button, might be interesting..lol

Overall, I think the game might be a bit tougher than your average 1-2 games in your local casinos and definitely tougher than 1-2 in Vegas . At night, the game gets much tougher and plays like an average 2-5 game.

My last experience here there was definitely no limit on buy ins. A guy actually bought in for 10mil won ($10,000) at a 1/2 table. It plays more like a common 2/5 in the states still. Pick your targets and take them down. Not an overly difficult game. Any .25/.50 grinder from before black friday could probably win here. I consider a full buy in here 200bbs and I am playing on 25bi very successfully. Not the biggest BR but it's a fairly low risk despite the few crazies that will inevitably sit down. Info recent as of July 2015. Heading back tonight.

Anyone still playing at Walker Hill? I'm planning on coming down for a week at the end of this month.

Wondering how the games are lately and if the rake has changed since the last time I was there, around 2012.

I'm seriously regretting booking this trip for next week. Everything I hear (or don't hear) suggests Walker Hill is going to be a ghost town

Just to update, it was indeed a ghost town. Multiple tables open on the weekend but on weekdays it was either no tables or just one 1/2 table of the same 6 regs every day.

I didn't check Seven Luck or anywhere else, but people were saying the poker rooms there have all shut down. Seems like there's not much poker in Seoul these days.

That's depressing. Busan is similarly slow at the moment but at least there's a beach right outside the casino.

Take a road trip, check out Daegu and Busan.

Incheon also apparently runs everyday.
