I'm a former dealer, I've played in casinos for 17 years on a regular basis now. Anyways, to the point of this post.

I win a decent sized pot and I'm in the 8 seat, so sitting next to the dealer. He pushes me the pot and proceeds to take a white chip out of the pot and slips it into his shirt pocket.

I never made any gesture to tip. He never thanked me for this tip he took it on his own free will. if he said thanks as he took it, it would have signaled a mistake. Just took it. I ask, "did u just take a tip out of my pot?"

Silence.

I ask for my tip back.

Silence.

At this point I'm annoyed, ask for the floor to come over and demand my tip back. Sure it's only a dollar, but the point of the matter is he stole from me. Floor tries to assure me it was likely a misunderstanding. I told floor I'm sure it was a deliberate act and something he can easily get away with often.

I got my tip back, and told dealer no more tips ever from me.

Watch out for a sneaky dealer snagging a dollar when he deems someone is a tourist and then that tourist is gonna tip again. Thief.

Can you give us the full story of how you behaved for the hour or two before this happened? I bet there is more to this story than you are letting on...

Are you asking if I was being a drunken beliggerant fool prior?

Then the answer to that, is nope. I don't drink while playing. Just normal table banter. You can believe whatever you want, but I never seen anything like this in all my time playing.

I don't know what the new owner's policies will be, but in the past, discussions of Venitian dealers were discouraged. Having said that, I find his story believable as related.

Well, he did not identify an employee by name or likeness, so no rules were broken here. This is also something that is important for players to be aware of.

Fwiw dealers are people. People can be *******s, ergo dealers can be *******s.

You get enough dealers, you will find that one.

Op’s behavior has no bearing on this action. If op was acting like a (pick your own term), dealer still has no right to “steal” from op. Call the floor and get him 86’d but you can’t steal from him no matter how he is behaving or what he has done.

Knowing OP for many many years, and different properties later (from East Coast to Vegas) I fully believe his story, and he’s posting this to give a fair warning to players out there.

That’s very shitty to be happening, and said dealer should be walked out on the spot. In my eyes, stealing from players is just as bad as stealing from the house.

Not selling new players chips out of the rack (not even blacks when other players will convert them into reds for new players), yet selling chips to a player that busts/adds on has to be one of the dumbest management decisions I've seen.

This is pretty standard at a lot of rooms.

(1) Don’t discourage existing/busted players by having them do extra work.

(2) Cutting out chips for new players slows the game...is the dealer also to provide a rack? Nah, f that - new player gets it all done at the cage.

I actually came into this thread to ask about this.

I'll be staying at the Venetian in two weeks and the early morning is going to be one of the only times I can play (big family trip).

Venetian seems to be the only big room not back to 24 hrs. Any idea if there's plans to change this? I'd hate to have to walk over to the Wynn each morning.

Does the Venetian have a poker rate? (For discounted hotel rooms)

This is a good room. Played two ~90 minute sessions on Thursday.

In first session, I rivered quad jacks (board was AJ35J), I bet $100 (pot was $220 ish) and villain folded. I haven’t played live poker since 2019, so I mucked and didn’t realize I had a silly “high hand”. It would’ve held for the next 30 minutes, so I cost myself a $200 bonus.

Can’t really complain though, I was getting absolutely slapped with the deck and walked away up about $550 after only 90 minutes.

Second session was fun too - lotta people with Amazon lanyards blowing off steam and pounding beers.
