Pretty sure the rule is, you can book anything up to $400 during the week and $500 on the weekend....and it gets adjusted down to the poker rate...

Sick...I know.

Played at the V last night ...saw Annette Oberstad sitting in a 1/2 NL game...why she was playing 1/2 ?....I couldn't tell ya...also saw Antonio "the Magician" walking around in a pink polka dot robe with no shirt on ...looked like he had several cocktails in him...

Yup, find any room under $500 on the weekend (the rate before resort fee and taxes) or $400 during the week and it will get adjusted to the poker rate after playing 6 hours/night/room. You don't book a "poker rate room." You just book a room, play your hours and then ask the fine folks at the podium to check your hours and have the rate adjusted. Takes them about 2 minutes.

Our rooms were $512/night after taxes and resort fee at the regular rate and the total for 2 nights + a breakfast we charged to the room at Grand Luxe after the adjustment to the poker rate was ~$430. Sick comp imo.

So you only need 6 hours per room? So if me and my buddy played 3 hours each that covers the 6 hours needed for that day? and its not 6 hours per person???

One other question, the poker rate (which i think is 119 or something) does that include the fees and taxes? or do they still need to be added on???

thanks

Resort fee and taxes are on top of the 119/159. 3 hours/night/person if both are on the room or whatever combo that equals 6.

Do you have to check with the podium on a per day basis, or just at the end of the trip and they adjust for each day accordingly?

In 24 short hours my flight will be arriving in LV from Philly...

I'll be in town for 72+ hours and roughly 36-40 of those will be spent in this room....

Really? I played 1/2 NL Monday and Wedneday night last week and found the games nice and juicy. The table I was at on Wed played more like a 2/5 table, with the standard raise being $12 - $15 preflop and most of the table straddling.

Ironically, the action was the best around 9 - 11 PM, rather than the later hours. The donks seem to show up earlier there than in other places.

I also second the coffee urns on the side by the tourney registration. They are the nuts!

Btw DCarp - it was nice meeting you last Monday. I thought you handled the situation with the drunk kid at my table (to my immediate right) quite nicely.

TY. I find inebriated players are very easy to handle, it's the know-it-all table captains that are tough (many of which, I have become good friends with over the years).

At the end.

And, thanks to all of you who answer questions before I get to them...it saves me a ton of work!

I read it's free for both tournament and cash game players (11a-1p). Can anyone confirm?

I confirm. It is free for DSE and cash game players. It's our way of saying thank you to all of our loyal guests who have played in our room this year. I have 'sampled' the food the first two days and I can honestly say that it's pretty good. Day 1, I had a meatball sandwich. Day 2, I had a fajita (Of sorts...it had fajita chicken with like a corn/onion mix that was really good).

Where is the buffet?
How do they know I'm playing at the V?

Should I expect the typical Venetian smell to mix with food smell?

You mean you're not thanking all of your loyal guests who have played in your room this year...just the ones that happen to be supporting your event/room right now?

I moved here to play poker 100 days ago. I have played at ALL the major casinos with poker rooms. I played at one 2 times, great news if u play poker....
The BEST,by a landslide is the VENETIAN!!!
The room is open, tables far apart, all games played, great comps for certain games.
The staff is impeccable, VERY friendly, knowledgeable, courteous, and treat YOU like they are glad to have your business!
Managers for both the poker room and tournaments are supurb!
Best tournaments DAILY and the deep stack tournaments...can't beat!
Save your time going anywhere else...play at the best!!!
no I am not an employee!!
Just a poker player who enjoys the game and can play at a great room.

Cant say that i have played at all the big rooms but i will agree with you that the fact that their tables are spread out and you have plenty of room to get around was the nicest part about playing there.

from my experience playing fairly low level tournaments and some 2-5, I liked the venetian and caesers palace best.

Not unless they moved it since this past Friday. It was in the restaurant next to the high stakes back room (the salon or whatever it is called).

Really? PM me your address and I'll make sure to grab a plate from the buffet for you and I'll box it up and mail it to you. BTW, I'm not affiliated with the V in any sense, just think this is some ridiculous nitpicking.

Caesers doesn't draw out a crowd in their tournies like the venetian does.
