Room service is not cheap and low quality because that's not what the guests want. It's not Circus Circus.
The only way the poker room can offer cheap food is to subsidize it. Some California cardrooms do that. But the Venetian is already paying for free drinks and food comps. Man, of all the things to whine about, the price of food in the poker room is pretty ridiculous.
I'm not really sure what your point is, or in what way you're disagreeing with me per se. There are plenty of places (including the Grand Lux), where you can get good food for far less $$$ at the Venetian.
In fact, they have an entire food court full of reasonably cheap dining options.
What they're basically offering at their tables is their room service menu, which is going to be more expensive than these other options, and more overpriced than pretty much any restaurant in the place because you're paying for the convenience of having someone bring you your food.
Room service is expensive, dining at the table is expensive.
However, if they wanted to offer food court items at a 20% mark-up for delivery, food would in fact be cheaper than it currently is. They wouldn't have to ship food from down the street.
My point is, however, why should they do this if they're happy with the current dynamic? If you want to go to the food court you can. It's what, 3-5 minutes from the card room? Take a break, eat a meal, and come back if you want.
If everyone left the tables because they were charging too much for the food, they would change the policy. If no one went to an expensive steakhouse because the steak was too expensive, they would lower the price. It's not like the V will lose $$$ if they charge $17 for a sandwich instead of $20, the point is they'll be making
less profit so they won't be making the switch unless it can be proven otherwise.
Also, I was saying people shouldn't whine about it...that was the point of my post. Maybe you weren't referring to me, but quoting me to complain about people whining about food prices confuses me.
