Obtain a Player's card and you will receive $1-$1.50 an hour towards food and if you average 6 hours a day you will qualify for the poker rate. The poker rate is $89, $119 right now.

I don't know Ben A. Then again, I don't know too many people outside of the poker room. If you call the operator and ask to speak to the host named Ben, if there is one they will connect you.

Just go steal a water from Crazy Mike.

Or maybe Crazy Mike could perform this service while waiting on his next opponent/victim.

The Venetian is hands down a great poker room. I like playing and being there. I'm planning on coming in June for some DSE awesomeness.

Since there are a few employees of the casino on here I'm going to share some constructive criticism...

I was there during March Madness (Crazy sick action that week, I might go to Vegas every year for Madness) and played 2 tournaments. I love the structure, and the buy ins. Didn't cash in either (lol donk suck outs oh well made it all back and way more in the cash).

Anyway there is some room for improvement-
1) The tournament area needs SERIOUSLY better lighting. I have decent eyesight even without my glasses and I was having trouble. There were a few light bulbs out and even if those had been replaced it wouldn't have been enough. This should be high on the list of things that must be done. I was also disappointed that after pointing out a few bulbs out to the floor on thursday they weren't replaced by saturday's tournament.

2) The plugs for the auto shufflers were kicked out a few times, causing my table to slow down. There are better plugs you can use (edison plugs are pretty much fail for anything), heck I'd be happy to install it for a reasonable rate . Or you can hide the connections altogether.

3) The tournament area is right up next to the rest of the casino. I am mildly offended that my buy in/rake isn't worth the rake you get from cash games to put us in a more enclosed space to reduce the noise. You could hang some curtains around it and be surprised at how well that helps with the noise.

4) I was playing cash on a thurs/fri night and asked the floor about the saturday tournament. He said it might be canceled due to the huge spread of cash games he needed to have that week. I know it is more money for the casino, but this was a scheduled tournament that I had actually been planning my week around playing and was disappointed that it might be canceled so you could throw a few more cash games out. Tournament ended up running, but the idea that it would be cancelled was annoying. Almost didn't show up and went to the Bellagio for the 500 instead.

Someone had asked the opinion of the second best poker room in town. If you are referring to lower limits I have to say Caesar's. soft soft soft fields. Lots of action. Great tournaments/structures. Not quite as good a structure as the V. But still great. They do not spread limit games and I think only had 1/3 and 2/5 NL. but those tables were always full. The room is secluded from the rest of the casino which is a huge plus for me in so many ways...

Dude, what makes you think you need a secluded area to play a tournament?? Who do you think you are, Hellmuth??

Reduce the noise. So when you are playing a cash game, what do you do, listen to your ipod?? These tournaments are so important and filled with expert players that you can't function unless you have a special area with a "quiet please, do not disturb the poker players"?? Back away from yourself bro...

So tournament players are more important than cash game players. Right.

Wow, someone needs a hug.

I don't listen to an ipod at the table unless there is someone I really need to ignore. Even then I am more inclined to put the earphones in without turning the music on. I thinkthis has happened once?

Um Cash game players have the awesome secluded space, I'm asking for the same treatment... Not better...

Go get a hug man. Or 'Back away from yourself bro.' (what does that even mean?)

I agree that the tournament area is super-loud especially at night with the bar that's nearby. It impacted the play when the dealers frequently wouldn't hear a person go all in. Not so bad that I would stop playing there, but tons of room for improvement.

Don't need a hug, go find another man to touch.

Cash games will always get the "preferential" treatment. If there isn't room for your private area, then just deal with it.

Back away from yourself means...that you place an extremely high importance on yourself and your needs. Now you know.

A general suggestion I'd like to make. Make it a policy to ask for volunteers when you're moving people from the must move game to the main game. 3 times now I've been kicked out of great games because it was my turn on the must move, and I know there are other people at the table who would've volunteered to go (mostly the people who freak out if we have to play 7 handed or something) and in the end neither of us are happy - I get taken away from the great shorthand game, and they get stuck playing a game they don't want to be in.

The way the station casinos do this is actually the most reasonable must move policy I've seen - the person who's been there the longest has first choice as to whether or not to move to the main game, if they refuse, then the person who's been there the second longest gets to choose, etc. and if no one chooses to go, the last person to arrive gets moved to the main game. I know this is somewhat atypical, but it leaves everyone happier in my experience and aside from a little more work from the floor I don't see a downside.

Actually, for that matter, maybe loosen up on the must move policy a little bit. A while back it was about 5am and we had 2 8-16 games going - the main game had 10 people and the other game had 3. But we were having fun playing 3 handed and there was crazy action, so I was happy to be there. But then the main game gets 9 handed, so the floor comes over and insists that I move - I'd have stayed longer in the game I was in, but I didn't want to get into a new game at 5am and the others didn't either, so I pleaded, but apparently must move policies must be enforced even when it's to the detriment of the game, so the three of us just ended up leaving, all to keep the main game from having to play 9 handed... (which they did anyway).

I don't want this to sound too critical - I love the room - it's just that the only annoyances I've had are related to the must move policies.

Yeah, it's loud, gets smoky, an occasional fight breaks out by the sportsbook, etc. But come on, what else are they supposed to do. Hang a curtain around it? That's ridiculous and won't help anyway. Poker ain't golf, I'd suggest you just suck up the distractions and try to not let it change your game. And besides, having all those tourney tables out on the main floor is good for the overall health of the game- it exposes far more random passers-by to it.

No. Must move must be MUST move, or it degenerates into time consuming nittery. It's just so much easier to make it MUST move. Yes, you can give anecdotal evidence otherwise. I can respond with anecdotal evidence to the contrary. But it makes more sense to talk to floor personnel who have handled must move situations many times.

And LOL at people who plead with the floor to break the rules just for them.

How does asking for volunteers first make it into "time consuming nittery"? Leaving people stuck in a game they don't want to be in, while moving people who don't want to move leaves everyone unhappy.

As far as expecting the floor to break the rules - he was enforcing them to the detriment of the game. It was pretty clear he was just going to break up the small game and make everyone go home, so I tried to let him know this, but he insisted on enforcing the rules anyway and the result was that instead of 9+3 we had 9+0.

I think some kind of barrier in the tournament are would be a good idea like curtains or somthing. The one tournament I played there I had this really creepy guy standing behind me for an hour and a half asking me several times how much each chip was worth and trying to look at my cards. It was really distracting.

Agree with noise, but disagree with solution. Having it open is good for the game. During deep stack there were more guys lining up to play 1/2 who have NEVER played before because they were watching the tourney and wanted to play. CURRENT SETUP == PROFIT.

If your decent player then anywhere on the strip is easily beatable. Even though every game is easy I found the best place is Planet Hollywood. Its a very small room but the games are very very good.

I'll be in Vegas the 3rd thru the 9th, got a comped room at the flamingo for 4th thru 6th and will be staying at the grandview all other nights. Was researching and it looks like Venetian is the place to go for poker, although I only play 1/2 and 2/5 nl so I'm sure I can find games everywhere, it's just better to play in a nice poker room. So was just wondering is it easy to get to this place from these hotels? Don't really wanna rent a car there but I'm sure they have some kind of jitney system like in AC that runs all night.

Thanks pokandy, I like to think I'm a decent live player. I just don't want to be playing against the ppl grinding for a living.

@Lpmatt, Flamingo is in the middle of the Venetian and Planet Hollywood. Should be about maybe a 5-10 minute walk to either. The strip is pretty safe anytime of the day. Maybe stay away from the back roads late at night.

Cash 1/2 games at the V are a weird mix of aggresive/tight, and regular weak. It's a lot of fun, good luck!
