I am in vegas for my every other month for a month trip and all I can say is that the venetian is going to steal all the business for poker. Finally started the 816 game with a 2 max rake and 25 comp dollars for your first hour. The game was great. They are teying to spread 1530 3060 and in time will do so. Staff is great as usual and the room and action is great.

I keep trying to give the wynn a fair shot but they can't keep up with the size and action and now staff and comps and rake at v.

Hopefully all the histakes games will migrate to the v. I would love to have table choices at 510nl or run bigger 1020nl or 3060 limit games.

Its just a matter of time and when the paging system is together it will put them over the edge.

Just wanted to give credit where it is due. Great job!

I love the tourneys at the Venetian.

Nice levels, deep stacks, gotta love it.

Going to visit them in November and can't wait.

It's amazing how nice everyone in that room is - I mean, no matter what I've ever asked anyone there they've been nothing but nice. I really do not understand how anyone could run a business where literally every employee is so nice - I mean you have to have one pissed off guy someplace don't you?!

They just keep raising the bar and that is a good thing for players.

I live in Vegas and play regularly at the Venetian. All the above remarks are correct, I don't believe there is a better room day or night then the Venetian. In regards to their daily tourney's, I believe they have the best structure. The daily noon starts you out with 7500 chips and 30 min rounds with a double up round of 100/200 when ante's are introduces, so there is plenty of playtime. The cost is 150 dollars, and the payout is usually 4500 plus for 1st. I encourage anyone coming to visit to check out their daily tourneys they are strong.

agreed, they also make efforts, real efforts and not just have the lame list that never goes, to get mixed games going. alot of places have the lists up on the screen but its kind of bs and the games never go. At venitian, they will acutally spread the low limit horse, etc. pretty cool effort. the smoking hot cocktail waitresses dont hurt my mood either.

with all the Venetian love flowing, I just wanted to add one minor negative. it has nothing to do with the room or the staff but last time I was there my table waited for over an hour and twenty minutes for a cocktail waitress to come to the table just to take orders! I've had to wait a long time before but this was a record.

That and the fact that although they offer meal service at the table which most places don't, the menu isn't that good and it's quite pricey. I had an Italian sandwich that was 17 bucks!

So, no problems at all with the staff but some of the ancillary services may be a bit less than optimal.

I always thought the food there was way overpriced. I mean its good, but $20 for a sandwich is a little pricey no matter where you go. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but not $20 good. I have a feeling they do this to take advantage of the the fact that poker players have chips on the table and can pay with them.

True, it is pricey but the food doesn't taste like cardboard like in other places. The chicken wings are pretty good.

Is this $2.50 comp for the first hour?

I usually use the phone in the room and order something for pickup from the Grand Lux.

The food from Mainland could be pretty good and they delivered to the room. However, I saw no signs of them last time I was there so I suspect they closed. Too bad.

I've never had this long a wait at the Venetian. In fact, I have a bad habit of comparing the service at our Vancouver casinos with the Venetian. Here, the staff jumps from table to table, taking one drink order and ignoring everyone else at the table. At least at the Venetian, they follow a pattern and ask everyone at the table if they want anything.

At River Rock they often have one server on during tournaments and she is run ragged. But even in that situation, they would do better if there was some order to way they work. I've played for hours there and never had a server come to the table. It's not such a problem for cash games but during tournaments, it's a pain.

mfpaul, there very well may have been an oversight that particular day. Sometimes a table gets forgotten in the servers rotation...it happens (not very often, but it does). If you ever have to wait more than 20-30 mins, please call a floor so we can fix the problem as quickly as possible. I would have given one of my own waters to hold you over while I called the service bar and told them that a table was being neglected. Usually that fixes the problem in just a few minutes.

As far as the price of the food, don't forget that you are also paying for delivery, service, and ambiance. It's similiar to eating at a fine dining establishment, you pay a little extra, but, then again, your not eating at McDonald's. Having said that, though, just like with the wait service issue you experienced, if you are upset with your food or service, please tell the floor and we will try to make it right.

No, this is $25 if you play 1 hour of $8/16, $15/30, or $30/60. This is for first time players only. You could, in theory, play all three in one day and receive $75 in food comps.

I love the room, but......

Gimme a break with that excuse for the price of food. Its a poker room, not a "fine dining establishment". Delivery and service are basically the same thing. Poker players don't mind paying a bit more for something good to eat, but the prices are ridiculous. I'm sorry, but "ambiance" is hardly what I would call eating food off of a side table. Its just a place to hold the food between bites. You guys can and should do better than that. Players shouldn't have to use the house phone to place an outside order for pickup because the food in the room is ridiculously overpriced.

Not yet, but soon. The origional color got rejected because it was too close to another chip.

Now, back to the food...I did not say the V poker room was "a fine dining establishment", I said the idea is similiar. I don't want to throw any "less desirable" poker rooms under the bus, but wouldn't you expect to pay more at the Venetian as opposed to <insert grungy poker room here>?

I've played at other places and it still costs you $6 for a hot dog (which is half the size of the V hot dog) and it is served on a white plastic plate and you get some fries...maybe a pickle. At least at the Venetian, many meals come with a cup of fresh fruit, a muffin, or some lemon bread. You get a real plate and real silverware.

So, I don't know if we'll ever meet in the middle on this, but I just hope you see my POV.

Does the Venetian poker room even have control over the prices of food delivered to the poker tables?

I don't think so. I believe it's a room service menu, which is always pricey wherever you go.

While I agree the V could improve in this area, compared to some California poker rooms, I think they are better about food options than the other LV rooms.

I just hope the casino gets past its financial troubles without it impacting the poker room permanently (e.g. putting slots in its place).

Just ask a floor person to put the order in for you. I have frequently seen floor people do this for players.

AND starting at the end of the month, they will have a free buffet every day for a month for all poker players for Deep Stack. Seriously, gotta love the venetian.

Best poker room in Vegas, and it's not even close.

Lol wow, sweet!!

As for the price of food, I used to think it was high priced but then I started paying more attention to using my players card and getting the hourly comps while playing poker.

It's not much but it offsets or completely pays for $20 sandwiches etc. Last time I was there, by the time I left town, I think I'd used at least $100 in food comps from Grand Lux & Noodle Asia. I'm not a big table-eater but I assume you can use food comps for that stuff too.
