Pretty good review of Fraser Downs I'd say. BUT. They don't let you wear hoodies like Cascades.

Anyways, I was wondering what you guys consider the best hours/days for each of the casinos. I'm trying to create a schedule based on profitability.

EX. Boulevard's weekday shift is super nitty IMO. But Edgewater's weekday shift seems pretty soft.

Any advice helps. Thanks.

Anyone else avoid playing at River Rock because of how crappy their tables are? They have such little padding that i have to use my thumbnail to lift up the edge of my cards. After awhile that fuxxing hurts as it cuts you under your nail. I've played at Edgewater, Boulevard, Cascades, and across the US and have only experienced that on kitchen tables at home games.

And so it begins. Last night at 3:30pm there are 3 1/3 NL games going in Cascades with pretty much no list. A couple of hours later, that drops to 2 1/3 NL games, again with pretty much no list. By 9:00pm, we're down to a single 1/3 NL game with pretty much no list. A guy who had just come from Fraser Downs said it was a similar situation there (i.e. a single 1/3 NL game with pretty much no list).

Seriously?!?! 9:00pm and a SINGLE game of 1/3 NL going? Last night was the first time I've ever left the poker room at my regular time with only one 1/3 NL game going.

This town simply ain't big enough for two poker rooms. Either the game will die, or one of the rooms will.

Well put review.

Honestly I only played cascades once about a year ago. Took me 2 1/2 hours to finally get a seat at 1/3 and when I finally did get my seat it felt like we were all squeezed in on that table elbow to elbow. Then the guy on the table behind me took a bad beat and flew outta his seat, sending the chair flying at me not so happy for my first 5 mins at the table. It seemed to take forever for the waitress to come over( she was talking to some reg degen old man asking for her number). Was alittle surpised when I finally got all the money in with middle set on the flopthat they asked me to table my hand befoee they laid the turn( first time I had been asked to do this in any cash game ever!) Then buddy when runner runner flush on me. Then they guy who won starts calling me a bad player and ****. (F.u runner runner a**hole) ended up breaking just under even in the next hour picked up my chips and headed over the bridge where everyone knows me by my name.

I love playing the boulvard because most(not all) ppl there are really nice. Friendly staff and all a better exp. in my opion. Haven't played the new fd yet but I honestly don't think 2 rooms that close to eachother will surive. Just not enough ppl out that way to allow for both.

I have also heard that the grandvilla casino in burnaby will be opening a poker room soon. Anyone heard on how many tables? ??

Curious what people think is the best time and place to play 200NL live around the Vancouver area ?

Cascades Casino in Langley has an uncapped bad beat. Last time I was there the BBJ was $143k, and rumour had that it had been a lot bigger in the past. Decent number of $1/$2 tables.

Hey guys

I'm in Vancouver for the next 4 or 5 days and looking for some decent 5/5 nl or omaha games. If anyone has been to both let me know which you thought was better. Are both 24 hr?

Appreciate the help

Not likely to find 2/5 regularly at Riverrock except on Friday/Saturday nights. Might also find 5/10 NL on those nights as well. If the Canucks are playing, it's less likely you will find the higher limit games.

All casinos in bc are uncapped bbj. Cascades had a big one go last year to the tune of 246,000. Was at the table right beside.

Try calling in when you wake up the morning of and listing yourself. Seems to be the thing to do there.

"OK, sir. You're 17th right now for the 2/5. But you're 3rd live."

The SUS series at edgewater looks pretty good. Pretty awesome that the $500 event has the same structure (assuming they start at 25/50 and not 50/100) with 1.5x starting stack as last years $1100 BCPC event.

Yea 10k was my bankroll. And I went crazy to play 20/50 and lost 2 buyins... Which is kinda normal at those stakes...

Played in Fraser Downs poker room last night (Monday), the first time I've played there since their busy opening weekend.

Played from 3:30pm to 10:00pm. One table of 1/3 NL went, and that was it (not including a little women's tourney they had on another table at one point in the evening), so 11 tables sat empty most of the night. Even the 1/3 NL game seemed to perhaps be on life support at times (phone in list was only 2 players deep, but who knows if they were coming in / around), but it did remain more-or-less 10 handed for the majority of the evening.

Nice room to play in, but looks like it is currently losing the battle to attract customers from the too small local pool to support both it and Cascades.

What about the game? Soft? Nitty? Fishy? Worth the drive...?

Haven't played it enough to know for sure, but both times I've went it's fairly easy money - although aren't all local games of these stakes usually this way? The one real drawback is that with only 1 table going, it's either that table or no table, so if table conditions turn for the worse your only option is to play thru it or quit.
