Hey guys, I may be moving out to the Burnaby area this summer so I'm just wondering what the games have been like at Grand Villa these days? Anyone been out there?

I might take a trip out to Vancouver sometime next year.

Is there any limit HE to be had there. I remember a long time ago (10+ yrs) there was a place that spread a really soft 10-20...I think it was connected to a Holiday Inn, but I heard from a friend that place doesn't exist any longer.

Any other options for LHE or is it all no limit these days?

NL and PLO. I think the last 3/6 limit game died of COVID.

Thanks. Out of curiosity where did they spread limit pre-COVID?

Hey buddy I'm a reg there , they run $1-3 ($100-$400max) , and $2-5 ($300-1500) ,
The $1-3 games are pretty good, typically all the action players merge into one or two tables , then all the other tables are full of small buying omc games, really bad , it's hit and miss , $2-5 is not my reg game but it seems a mix of competent good players , very tight omc, and occasional weak $1-3 guys taking stabs,

For the $1-3 action games not uncommon to see 5/6 guys with all over $1k ,

The room is full every day .....with about (2) $2-5 games and all the other tables running $1-3 ,

Hope this helps good luck out there buddy

Pretty sure Limit games (typically 2/4 as well as 4/8 with Kill) died long before COVID. I think Fraser Downs was probably the last to offer Limit but that room has been closed for, what, 6 years or so? Cascades last offered Limit in its old room, so like 2014 maybe?

If that's all there was, I must be thinking of a very long time ago. The place I'm thinking of spread 10-20 and 20-40, I think. There might have been lower games, but I'd never play anything less than 10-20. Rake is too hard to beat. Sounds like it's all long gone.

Your memory is right that those limits were spread at the Holiday Inn on Broadway and now long gone. I played there some and then 6/12 limit at Boulevard Casino before the big poker room was built. Now there is just NLHE and PLO in the Lower Mainland afaik.

There was 3/6 limit at River Rock as recent as 2018 at least. That's the last time I was there and I think COVID was probably the death of that game.

Anyone looking to play 3-6 limit should just log on to PokerStars.

Last I heard, a few years ago, they don't play poker there. Email them to make sure.

They started live poker just before Covid hit. I haven't been there since but there was about 3-4 tables of 1/3 (may have been 1/2) and I don't recall seeing anything else. It was tucked off to the side next to a cafe area and it didn't seem like a permanent spot for the poker area but the floor staff told me it was. I didn't play in the game but watched a few minutes and the games seemed very good. Covid hit and they were closed for over a year minimum so who knows now. In the pits everyone would ask staff why they didn't have poker so when they finally announced they were it was a big deal/lot of buzz.

Hey guys, I'm mainly an online MTT player. I've been following the WSOP main event coverage now, so I was just wondering if there was any casino around the lower mainland that had decent stucture. Is there anything like that offered around here, or am I better off trying the US or just sticking to online?

As far as I know, the only poker room in the area that holds tournaments is the Parq, and they have them only now and then, maybe as few as once or twice a month. Also when they do have them they run 20-minute levels, so it is basically a Hyper-Turbo. This info may be out of date as I haven't been there since the pandemic.

Thanks for the update man. Maybe I'm better of focusing on MTTs online rather than doing a live hyper turbo style format. I personally filter out all the hyper turbos from the tournament offerings because they feel too luck based and don't offer enough chance for decision making.

Hopefully a cool tournament series can come to the lower mainland in the future, like a WPT or BC Poker championship series.

Is there any final decision on whether the new casino in Delta will have poker tables?

It says it will have 18 table games. So I'd put the chances that there's poker at about 2% and that might be optimistic

How's the game at Hard Rock these days? I hear it's quite bad and that Villa is the place to be(no offense Villa regs). They say Villa is even better than Cascades. And how's Parq?

Is there any Facebook group or forum dedicated to local Lower mainland area poker talk? Kinda like how 604poker forum was back in the day…..

I think we can reduce that 2% to 0%.
