Hey guys, just wondering if any Van City locals are really into sports betting. I've gotten back into in over the past year and had some good results over the past 14 months and hope to keep it up. I've switched to a more percentage based wagering bankroll strategy for my bets.

I'm still into poker, but I am more into sports betting. The main sports I bet on are UFC, NBA and NFL. If anyone is interested in collaborating on betting strategies/ideas/information sources, shoot me a message lets chat. Cheers!

Anyone have info on these? Craving some live poker and wouldn't mind checking these out if they have games running but never heard of them before.
I assume they are underground games? Rake? Stakes? Etc.

Is anyone here a fan of the UFC or betting on the fights? I was thinking of getting out for the title fight tonight between Adesanya and Costa. If anyone is interested, shoot me a dm and we can hit up a spot.

same, I read that when casino's reopen it will be for games where only the dealer touches the cards, ei. not poker. From what I've seen, in places already hit hard by covid, the death rate is not going up with the recent increase in the rate of cases.

Can't they at least allow folks who have already had covid to go. At a certain point there will be enough people to justify it, I assume. Like get a blood test once per month and as long as you still have anti-bodies you should be allowed to work at and patronize a casino. I wonder how long it would take the government to make a system like where you scan your health care card as proof you are anti-body positive; forever, probably.

Hello,

I am Brazilian living in Vancouver Canada, I am looking to connect with people in the poker community. Talk about hand history and if we become friends travel and play.

I usually travel to Vegas each 3 months, but with the pandemic happening I haven’t been there since March.

Let me know if you want to connect.

Oi Sandro, I just tried to DM you but it doesn't look like I'm able to. I'd be down to chat some poker with you. I'm currently back to playing MTTs and SNGs online. Shoot me a DM if you are able to.

Which cafe?

Maybe Revs/Athens is picky enough with their players that no one complains and brings heat.

Hey guys, just a small update on my poker journey as of late. I've just gotten back to playing small stakes tournaments online. Made some small adjustments and I've seemed to have found a good formula.

Right now, I want to get good at using my Poker Tracker 4 for reviewing hands and fixing leaks. However, I'm not the best at doing the learning/review so thats an area of my game I really want to improve.

I've recently discovered some of Alec Torelli's content on YouTube, and he seems to be a bright guy with some good ideas.

If any other Van City locals are down to collaborate when it comes to the online game, let me know. I just have a preference for working with locals who I can speak to on the phone or in person, rather than having anonymous online buddies. Cheers

What's everyone's best guess? I would highly doubt they would open things up before the spring flu season is over, especially since it doesn't sound like (?) the general population would be vaccinated by then. Maybe summer of 2021?

I've been watching YouTube videos of Brad Owen and Bart Hanson and I'm just kinda laughing at some of the hands they analyze because the games just seem drastically juicier than 99% of casino poker I've experienced in Vancouver. There are all these 5/10 NL games where 3 villains limp-call and show up with A7o and pay off 2 or 3 streets after a K73-2-2 board. Maniacs blind-raise to $100 pre-flop every hand and call all-in for hundreds of BBs with JT on a 942r board. Players call huge all-in check-raises that scream "VALUE" .... but then villain shows neither a decent hand nor a draw.

I'd heard about Vancouver's poker scene being awfully tight and horribly raked but these videos - in which everyone seems to agree that these hands aren't all that unusual - are really smashing the point home.

My sad prediction is that Vancouver's poker scene will continue its downward spiral to oblivion and/or legally sketchy home games, even after the COVID era ends.

Is there anything anyone can do to make Vancouver's poker scene more like the scene in other cities? Or is it a hopeless battle?
