You don't need to convert your US dollars. Goto the cashier cage at the casino I can't confirm that all casinos do this however they do at river rock so I would assume it would also apply at other gcg gaming places, hard rock etc. give them your US dollars they will give you Canadian, rate is not that bad and they will give you a buy back receipt so if you cash in say $1000 usd to cad bills, you can buy back that $1000 usd for the same amount of cad you got for it.

Thank Plow-. That helps me out a lot. I'll probably check out the River Rock and hopefully catch a good NL game

Do u mean dead from the sense that the total Rec players are gone? I really don't see too many of the SUPER fish, but there are plenty of exploitable players. I'd say there's only 10% of the room at any given time that I'd rather not bang heads with

Edgewater downtown runs 1/2 NLHE, 1/2 PLO w/ $5 bring in (essentially a 2/5 PLO game) and 2/5 NLHE.

River rock runs 1/2 NLHE, 2/5 NLHE & 3/6 LHE.

Cascades in Langley runs 1/3 NLHE.

Hard rock runs 1/2 NLHE and 2/5 NLHE.

Grand Villa in Burnaby runs, either 1/2 or 1/3 NLHE.

Edgewater is downtown, River Rock is in Richmond (where the airport is) and Hard Rock is out in Coquitlam 45-60 minutes east of Richmond).

Starlight does not have a poker room.

The games are alright everywhere, but there is so blatant cheating at midstakes so you will have to game select carefully if you are playing 2/5.

Vancouver is a fairly expensive town.

The games might be slightly softer @ Hard Rock but who wants to live in Coquitlam? River Rock usually has more tables so that's better for game selection. Edgewater has PLO and the games are good.

What is the blatant cheating going on?

There's definitely a lot of players who want to check down every hand that comes down to just them. AA vs KK and they'll end up playing a $24 pot.

Doesn't really seem to be serious cheating to me. It's annoying regardless. Maybe he's talking about something else.

I'm looking for a poker strategy/study partner(s) to team up with and grow my No Limit Holdem game.

I'm making a return to poker after over 5 years away from the game. I used to play fairly regularly online from 2005 - 2008 grinding $11 SNGs as well as some low stakes MTTs. I was a profitable player, but I'm looking to build off that and be even more profitable. I'll mainly be playing $1/$2 NL at the casinos for now, but am I open to doing some online as well.

In my time away from poker, coming back to the game I want to do things a bit differently than my first run at poker. Here are the main differences:

1) Build my personal poker network.
I want to grow in this game with other hard working/ambitious players. There is so much information floating around to take in that it's way more efficient to learn things with other people. When I was playing years ago, all of my friends were casual home game players and made no effort to learn. I want to meet more like minded players.

2) Play more live as opposed to online.
This will give me a chance to possibly meet people at the casino, but also stop me from becoming some guy who is just locked in his room staring at a computer for hours and days at a time.

I'm basically looking for someone who isn't afraid of hard work, who is hungry to learn all the concepts and theory that is out there. I'm looking to be fully armed going into battle rather than be a guy who shows up to a gun fight with a knife.

Just please don't be one of those guys that shows up and sits there for hours talking strategy at the table. There's way too many of those clowns ruining the games already. Edgewater is infested with these people.

I'm not a fan of those guys either. Its one thing to be strategic and understand the game but why would you want to advertise that to fish and people there to gamble and play for entertainment. I was just shaking my head seeing this one clown taking notes in his notebook durong a session there.

A friend of mine is trying to talk me into moving to Bellingham and I am curious how feasible it is to travel north to play low-mid stakes Holdem or Omaha? I know I have Tulalip south of there but have heard game selection is limited.

Game selection is pretty limited here too. I personally don't enjoy crossing the border and doubt it would be worth it just to come here and play. YOu'd also have currency issues to deal with.

But Vancouver is nice so come here and play and have fun doing other stuff and then play poker too, I just wouldn't recommend coming just for a night of poker.

Edgewater Casino and Riverrock are fairy popular in vancouver, if you want something close definetly those. Alot of fishes @ Chances near cloverdale for their 1/3 game. as well as fraserdowns.

The tough players though from my experience would be Hard Rock and Riverrock. GLGL

I was wondering the same thing. Is there a poker room? Is it full of Surrey OGs and Langley guys who drive pickup trucks?

They do have a poker room. It reopened on the 17th, I believe with 5 tables?

I'm out of town for the holidays, I'll check it out when I get back.

Are you speaking of Edgewater specifically? Or any of the other Lower Mainland casinos.
