River Rock, Edgewater, Cascades, etc.

Poker room in River Rock is usually busy and my usual choice.

Any Vancouver regulars on 2+2? If there's another thread my bad but I believe it's worth it's own discussion seeing as the games here are always running.

Fav room to play at in BC? Limits?

3/6 NL at Boulevard Casino is my choice. Love that they changed the max BI to 1K since it pretty much plays like a 5/10 game anyways.

Makes me sad that the tournament circuits around here are getting smaller and smaller tho.

What are the buy-ins at Edgewater? I see they have a 2/5nl on their website but no mention of buy-ins. Last time I was at Riverrock there was 5/5 with a 400-1500 buy-in and it was a great game. It seemed like the Riverrock 5/5 ran on several tables but that was a few years ago. I heard that the Riverrock moved the room from upstairs to a different building?

My roommate recently played 2/5NL at Edgewater. I believe he said max buyin was 1500.

Edgewater and River Rock are both 500 min 1500 max. Edgewater only spreads 2/5 and River Rock has 1/2/5 and 5/5. In my experience, the 5/5 sees more and more straddles as the night progresses, and often becomes mandatory (5/5/10).

Both games play fairly deep, the average stack in some of the better games can easily be 2k+. The atmosphere in the Edgewater poker room is a lot better than that of River Rock. Edgewater's room is upstairs next to Baccarat, and River Rock's is across the street from the actual casino. I haven't been anywhere else in BC though, but planning on going to Boulevard for the 1k next weekend.

Also, apparently they start 5/10 at River Rock like once a week which plays really deep. There are a couple young asian guys that I'm sure are MSNL online guys who only show up for this game.

Yea they moved the poker room to a seperate room that's across from the casino and right next to the sky train. Def not a fan and I only go there for the BCPC now.

I'm not much of a live player anymore but have thought about playing in this. From what I remember, the 3/6NL ran a little differently. They usually had 2 600NL games running. One being the "main" game and one being the "feeder" game. Does it still operate like this?

is there any good 5/10 or 2/5 live games at edgewater or riverrock? which is better for softness. I'm probably gonna hit up there next year when I turn 19 (:

Yes that's correct. Occasionally you'll see 3 games running but not that often.
They also run 5/10 with a 700 min and 2500 max every Monday and Thursday if enough interest is shown. Makes the 3/6 game that much better since most of the better regs play there.

I'll be playing Saturday. 5/10 is for Mondays/Thursdays only but it wouldn't surprise me if they make an exception for this event.

Would you imagine the field on Saturday will be easier than Friday for day 1, or is there likely no difference? I'll be around and can play either.

I played at 1-2 nl @ River Rock recently. Rake was 10% UP TO 5$ plus bad beat, plus a tip. Thats $7 a hand. Is that beatable long term? I play in Spokane and the rake is 10% up to $3 plus bad beat, plus tip.. It seams a lot more reasonable. Is that standard rake in VAncouver?

What's the event? I won't be playing as it's above my bankroll but will there be good side action at 1/2 3/6?

I'd think Saturday has to be softer than Friday. Starts at noon for both days so those that have jobs are only gonna be able to play Saturday.

Any games above 5/10 that are not private in Vancouver, or at least a deep 5/10 game?

Riverrock runs a deep 5/10 game every Friday and Saturday starting between around 4 to 6 pm.
