I think part of the issue is there are no promotions, the bad beat isnt really even advertised, no drink stations. Drinks are expensive...I paid 9 dollars for a coors light when i ordered not knowing the pricing.

Also they don't have enough tables to run tournaments which brings in a different class of player as well. This is a problem with Vancouver in general and not just Parq.

Lack of tables to run tournaments to bring in the tournament crowd is a terrible downside. Since our room downsized from 8 tables to 5 tables the nightly tournament (as well as Limit games) have totally been eliminated. Which eliminates the chance of tourney/Limit players sitting in a NL game at night.

Villa appears to be the new home for poker soon as I imagine Parq will shut it down

Where did you hear anything about Parq shutting it down?

What differences are there between playing at Grand Villa vs Parq?

Asked the floor tonight about more tables and they said they are hopeful for beginning of Feb so that coincides with the previous poster that stated the same.

Does PLO ever run at any of these casinos in Vancouver? Never been, but planning a trip in late February.

Plo runs at Parq almost 24/7. Nowhere else. Everyday 3 tables, 1/2 with a 5 bring in, 200 min buy, uncapped.

River Rock is down to 5 tables now and they don’t even have a cage here anymore.

Far cry from the glory days of 25 tables at one point.

whaaaa?? damnnnn good to know. I haven't been to the rock in awhile since all the action is at villa. Is it still in a little room across the street? No cage means I have to cash out at the main casino?

The 25 table upstairs was an awesome poker room. Glory days are over

I hope Villa doesn't turn into a ghost town for poker. I think it's the best room in the lower mainland right now.

I mean the cage is here but the poker room manager has to walk over and get you chips instead of there being a designated person there.

Room atmosphere is dead here. Damn shame.

Seems like the communication to the dealers and floor is that in early Feb they will be adding a couple tables. They will also be activating comps from your players card hours.

Good to see.

Sounds good. parq is still my fabourite Vancouver area room by far. 2 more tables would imorove the games greatly. I have about 400 hours played at Parq, some sort of comp activation would definitely be nice.

I've never played PLO at the casino, but a buddy of mine tried it out at Parq on Friday because the 1/3 wait list was too long. He said in PLO, everyone plays hands preflop and no one folds. A guy called from $5 to $180 preflop in a hand. Is that the way hands generally go in PLO at Parq? Is it basically a game of high stakes bingo? If so it sounds pretty cool!

It depends who's playing. That doesnt sound like anything unusual at all 10 handed PLO is a weird game.

I used to play a few underground games back in the day and recently came across a couple pages for them on Facebook..

They must be doing pretty good now that the casinos have given up on tournaments, i remember both Edge and RR would have a 300+ tournaments each month...not anymore.

Both casinos used to have $30 10am daily and would always get 100+ runners every single day. It was amazing to see so many people who don't have to work during the day.

Anyone play the daily tournaments at cascades? I was told today that they may be going down from 3 to 2 tables starting tomorrow.

One would think that adding 2 tables would reduce wait times. Right now its 3pm Thursday and there are 5 active tables and 3 empty tables and 40 people on the list. Back when there were only 6 tables they would all be full at this time and 30 people on the wait list. So they've increased the absolute number of tables by 2 but decresed the effective number of tables by 1. Makes no sense.

Good to see 2/5 in the mix. Wish they would use all the tables

Well, every reg knows the system and calls in ahead.

Also, you shouldn't post pictures that show people's faces.
