50 tables?! Lol

I don’t know, 50 sounds at least possible. Encore has turned its back on the game. Saturday and Sunday nights TR used to fill 22 easily, with good lists for 1/2 and 2/5, and sometimes even three 5/10 tables. And 50 would mean they could spread tournaments. Maybe it won’t be 50 but I doubt they’re building a new room without a plan for at least 30 or 35 tables.

IDK, that's like 11 days away and far more tables than they had space for previously. Color me a skeptic on that but I hope it is at least based on some sort of truth. I'd honestly take a 16 table opening sometime before Independence Day at this point.

i also heard the May 9 date, but def not 50 tables. thats over double from when they closed. they ahvent reopened due to dealer shortage so doubt they would re-open with even more need for dealers.

just want it open! lol

also heard they will be upping the max buyin for 2-5 to $700 and 5-10 to $1500

On April 1st, my buddies in my group chat played a nasty joke on me and sent pictures (older) of the poker room, and pictures of their stacks.. I freaked out, a couple said they were there playing right now.. I FREAKED OUT thinking HOW could I have missed this?! LOL, i'm on here every few days at least for updates. Anyway, I frantically called up the casino, got to a nice lady who told me over the phone the second week of May they'd be open. I said thanks and hung up.

That was april fools day,, my buddies got me good. But, someone on the inside actually gave me that date.. it seems to match up with what others are saying here.. I won't hold my breath though.

I know people have said this about 100 times since covid but....... I was there yesterday an old poker dealer was dealing BJ and said the poker dealers all took a refresher course recently and its 100% coming back in May, but its not on the schedule as of May 10th , so he said later in May they will 100% have poker. So take that for what it's worth.

50 tables is more than possible once the expansion is complete.

Again I don't think anyone will believe it until we see it but I asked a floor person yesterday if he knew when poker would be back and he said "This Month"

This was the date that a pit boss gave me today, although he added the sentiment that many in this thread already have: "I'll believe it when I see it." He confirmed that the second dealer school is finished or is finishing up this week, but he said there's still some union stuff to wade through.

Wow. Do you know what the issue was with the union?

Yeah they weren’t paying dues so by the request of the union TR suspended them

Or do you mean why weren’t they paying their dues?

When the union first started at Foxwoods a handful of dealers didnít want to be represented by them so they did not pay dues. After a couple of warnings, the casino had no choice but to terminate them. Could that be good what happened here?

Probably not much. I'm guessing under $20/month to the local union that represents them and possibly additional working dues if employed.. It's hard to justify paying that being a new member when you aren't working and have no idea if you ever will be and also were forced to join a union when you have no idea how it operates. Might as well kiss that money goodbye in their eyes

Rhode Island is not a right to work state. In many other states, the members would have the option to join and be protected from any punitive action from not joining.

Unions, and the companies, both tend to be much more effective in right to work states ime.

I am guessing it has to do with bringing smoking back to TR again. Why pay to be part of a union if they don't fight for you?
