I totally agree. For an advanced/ professional player, it's a gold mine, I'm sure.
Unfortunately for me, it was more a minefield that I wasn't able to maneuver my way around safely😢.

Because I'm in this forum, I don't pretend to be a pro.
I'll have to first lick my wounds and swallow my pride before I venture back there.

I suspect that this time next year, Twin Rivers is going to lose a lot of it's player pool to Boston Encore.

I don't know about "a lot" but yes of course, anyone coming down from the north will just go to Encore instead, certainly.

There will still be plenty of locals giving it away, I'm sure.

But really if you don't live close and you don't play often, there's no real compelling reason to go to TR. It's brilliant for me because I live 30 minutes away from it.

I actually live in a Boston neighborhood near Dedham.
No, I don't play that much. I'm on a limited bankroll and my skill level is such that I expect to make a profit most times I play but in no way am I good enough to make a living from it.

That's why I prefer to take the drive further south. More OMC's that I can push around and be the aggressor. At Twin, a guy raised to 37 after 3 limpers and all 3 limpers called! The initial raiser ended up having to fold. How am I suppose to deal with that madness!

Glad that you found such a lucrative well by the way.
I'll certainly be back some day. Maybe we can say hello.
If only so as I know not to sit at your table

To me, the Twin River game you describe is an easier money-maker. 1/2 live is like 2NL online. You don't crush the game by making nits fold in small-medium pots, you crush the game by getting people who overvalue top pair to call big bets when you have them beat.

I’ve been coaching someone who does really well at Mohegan and twin river but does horribly at Foxwoods. I do really well at Foxwoods because I lag it up against the old nits and most don’t adjust and when the others do, the do it at the wrong time. Mohegan and Twin suit his style of play better. The nits at Foxwoods suit my style of play better
Full disclosure here though is that I’ve only played 1 1/2 session at Twin and killed it. I also killed it at 2/5 there. Mohegan just irritates the **** out of me so I get so aggravated I don’t play well
TLR
Different styles of play suit different games

Hey that 1/2 NL session was with me! We might have spent $200 on alcohol alone lol

Easily. What time did we start asking the cocktail servers what time they could start serving Sunday morning?

The floor is the worst. At the moment, the Red Sox are playing and there are about 100 college football games going. Per floor, only thing that can be on all TVs is the US Open Women’s Final.

This has been a problem in the past. It gets better for a time and then they somehow forget how to put different channels on different TVs (not a joke, apparently it isn't an easy process?). The customer service in that place is less than zero.

Anyone got any info about sports betting coming Oct 1? Will it be done at the same place as horse betting? Actually on pace to start on time? Any promotions associated? Min/max bets?

I do think it could be good for poker. Maybe get some new people through the door, especially if the sports book is where the horse betting is, which would take them past the poker room. People may bet a football game then want to sweat it somewhere, so they sit down at the poker table. I don't think it'll be a huge impact but could be something, especially at first.

From what I'm reading its pushed back to November. Any news at the Casino about when it's opening?

Found this: https://www.playusa.com/rhode-island...-betting-deal/

Cliffs:
- Pushed back to November as you say
- Will Hil to provide betting operations in RI (so does this mean they'll offer global lines and not try to keep a balanced book within RI?)
- Can bet on mobile app but only if you're at a RI casino physically

William Hill is being hired to be a risk manager for the individual states. By definition it would seem that they would have to operate each states data individually and not collectively.

It almost seems like a conflict of interest in that the State of Rhode Island only gets revenue from winning within Rhode Island so wants a Rhode Island-optimal book (which I'll note may not always be balanced as books more and more seem to be shading lines -- i.e. keeping edge for themselves while also increasing risk) whereas Will Hill gets their revenue from a globally-optimal book (assuming they're compensated on their performance in each state and not a flat fee of some sort). I doubt Will Hill would want you arbitraging their lines against each other from one state to another assuming they are compensated by performance, as it'd be as if they're betting against themselves, but that could be possible if each state's lines are state-specific.

But imagine....how cool it could be to be in New England and catch a lot of middles. Just have one camper at Twin and another at Fox/Sun.

I did a lot of this at PC when I was there in the 1970s. Being from No.Central Mass., I had a home bookie, and then one from Providence. I found incredible middles on NCAA BB all the time.

Personally, my biggest middle ever was the 1983 Sugar Bowl. Penn State was only -3 with my home bookie, but was a whopping -6 with my southern connections. UGA scored late, went for 2 point conversion and failed, losing by 4.

A new chapter in the TV saga. 20 minutes into the 1:00 NFL games and every TV in the room is showing soccer (MLS no less)

Most recent article on the topic I see from Sept. 1 said sports betting won't becoming until mid-November.

This Tuesday, I played $5-$10 for the first time ever, at TR. My question is, those of you who have played $5-$10 here as well as other locations, how does the $5-$10 game at TR compare to other $5-$10 games around?

Im prefacing this with, I obv have not played there in 17 months but I did play 5-10 a few times a month when that was my main casino.
I found the most move tables great action and weak play. I think the main game is not so good. It’s usually populated with regulars and the players who had knocked out the players at the must move tables

Yea, that sounds about right.

The only reason I took a shot at it on Tuesday was because they had a full main game a must-move. The must-move had 4 players, and a baccarat player wandered over asking if he could buy in for $10,000. After he bought in for $1k, I took an open seat to his left and figured I'd take my shot. As time went on the table slowly grew until it was full of 10 poeple as well. When they called me to go to the main game 3 hours later I decided to go home instead of playing there since I was up $2k.

I think tonight I'll only take another shot at $5/$10 if there's a must-move again, and go back to $2/$5 otherwise.

Last week, I noticed on Tuesday there was 2 tables of $5/$10 the entire night, while on Thursday there was only 4 or 5, sometimes 3 people playing the $5/10 in total the whole night. What a difference, I wonder if this week will be the same.
