Is the 3-6L extinct or running certain hours? Tired of wasting my time and gas.

Second visit ever to TR yesterday - first in nearly a year. Arrived around 11:30AM to find the whole place busier than I'd expect for what was a pretty nice day. The poker room had about ten tables going. I was told it would be 90 minutes for 2/5, but they put me on that list and 1/2 and despite being 6th on the 1/2 list I got called within 10 minutes. And I only sat there for 20 minutes tops before being called to a new 2/5 must move.

The room still is too dark, making it difficult for my middle age eyes to see my cards without also running the risk of flashing them to my neighbors; however, of the five dealers I had two I'd consider above average as compared to FW/MS and only one was below average. The $2/$5 game was nothing special. Very easy to label players after only 30 minutes and thus money to be made if the cards were even mildly cooperative. I left up $500 after only a couple of hours in order to salvage some of the nice day. The $5/$10 game was running and everyone there looked bored and miserable - it certainly wasn't a splashfest, but probably that was due to the hour and most folks likely being regs. I only recognized one guy who I used to see at MS $2/$5.

I normally prefer the NH rooms because of the easier and slightly shorter drive for me plus truly weak player pool, but TR might get more of my action on nicer days since I know in those cases the NH rooms take longer to get a $2/$5 game going.

I also went to TR for the first time in over a year. Hadn't been since the room expanded. Manageble wait lists are a big plus. Action was decent, I just played 1/2.

The lighting is a little dark and lots of glare on my table. But the room is fine, dealers are adequate. Floor seems better about getting people seated than before.

I also generally play in NH because it's closer to me from metrowest MA. If they were equidistant, I'd prefer TR with the lower max rake.

Do you think the merger between TR and Dover Downs will have any impact?

Twin River will now be a publicly traded company so all of their financials, certain metrics, etc will be available for all to see. How this affects day-to-day operations remains to be seen as major shareholders could now have an impact in this area.

Having played poker at both rooms, I hope that the way Twin River runs its poker room bleeds over into the Dover Downs mentality. Yes, you heard me correctly.
Dover has a beautify casino, 1st class race track and harness racing, nifty poker room, great set of restaurants, and a hotel, that are ALL completely isolated from one another. Poker is walled off from the casino, on an upper floor. If you want to bet on a horse race, go through another door out to the track, and find a teller or machine. Want to eat and watch racing, like the old days? Nope, sorry, most of the restaurants are blind to the track, and the trackside food is terrible. ( glad I have a horse betting app and account)
Both places used to be old fashioned horse racing buildings. I used to go to Lincoln Downs in college back when B.A. Dario owned the joint. Now, that goes back a piece. (And E.M. Lowe owned Foxboro Raceway.) Both Dover and TR basically made huge mistakes by not tearing down the original race facility and putting up a better footprinted building. (same for Mohegan Pocono. ) (Do it like Gulfstream and The Meadows did)
Al least at Twin River, you have some chance of walkby and curiosity from people walking by the poker room. To a lot of people new to the game, if its out of sight, its out of mind. I will agree that there are many successful poker rooms that are isolated, but the majority of them started out as sections on the casino floor- and had a fixed limit game as a staple for newer players.
See you in a few months.

Walked into Twin River at 10:30 am on Saturday. Was the EIGHTEENTH name on the 1/2 list. You would think with all these new tables, they might actually bring enough dealers to run the games Twin River Casino (Lincoln, RI)

Thirty minutes later and I am now SEVENTEENTH name on the list.

Not like this is “news”, since this is how this poker room has been run for a while, but....

Additional Dealers come in at noon on Saturday. There are currently three dealers sitting at empty tables, and three additional dealers standing at the registration podium. After ~10 minutes of dealers just sitting at tables, floor appears to be coming around with a key to unlock the dealer tray and start games up. Currently 20+ names on both 1/2 and 2/5 list.

Seems like I’m about to get a seat, with a net wait time of 80 minutes.

Everything you are saying is exactly typical of this room.

I was at a 2-5 table on Thursday night and because we were further away from the podium, we basically always had 1-3 open seats that would take 5-30 minutes to get filled, while the other tables were always full. There was no must-move. This is also typical.

Playing 1/2 yesterday and an individual comes in and sits to my right. I look over to him for a second, look away, turn back and he's surrounded by 5 floormen and security telling him he needs to get his chips and gtfo. Really curious as to what he did. According to him he quote "didn't ****ing do anything." Never seen anyone sit down and get kicked out that fast.

He was probably previously banned or at least asked to leave from another section.

Last night I arrived at 8pm to find three full tables of 2-5 running with a list 20+ names deep (I was #22 on the list). Busy for a Tuesday!

I sat down at an empty table to wait and about a minute later a dealer sat down. I figured great, they'll open a new 2-5 game soon! A few minutes later, another dealer took over. Around 815, the floor finally unocked the tray and brought cards. Around 830, they finally started calling names to fill the seats. I actually was one of the 10 names called, because apparently the first 10 names on the list were actually the names of the people on the must-move (?). 2 hands into our NEW must-move, floor came to pause the action because 6 seats had opened up across the 3 main games. So our must-move was massacred down to 4 people and we had to wait for more players. Luckily I got called next and got to play at a main game.

Typical Twin River!

Omg they are still doing that weird list thing where the first few names are not really on the list but they still are on the list?
Yes, that sentence is hard to understand just like the weird list thing they do. Wonder what moron came up with that idea?
Several people keep hounding me to appeal my banishment but your whole story is basically the same story that everyone tells. I don’t know if I want to deal with the bs that you have to endure to play there. The floors still are the worst floors of any poker room I’ve ever played in.

Right, exactly, you have to look carefully at the list because if there's a must-move, the first 10 names of the list are actually the 10 people sitting and playing at the must-move. If it becomes a main game, they remove all 10 names at once. Until they, they take their name off as they move from must-move to main game. Anyway, you can tell which names on the list are actually a must-move table if they all have a 4 digit table number after their name (IE 1 JL 1404)

Yes, the floors are atrocious, but it's not really their fault. Mostly, they just follow rules set up by someone who really doesn't specifically care about the room. IE, they have a stupid rule where any time someone buys more chips on the table, the dealer has to lay their money out, count out the equivalent chips, then yell "Floor! Change $300!" (or whatever the amount) then just wait (and sometimes wait... and wait.... and wait) until a Floor goes "Change $300" back at them and then they can continue. I asked a dealer why once, and he said "the head of table games made it a rule to get floor approval for any amount over $100". I said "the head of table games should leave the poker room alone, and they should hire someone whose job it is to manage the poker room and make rules that make sense for the room". The dealer basically said that's what they all think too, and always have.

Will this ever change? Who knows!

Went there last night for a concert. The place was packed. This has to be the worst marketed poker room I've ever seen. Forget about the fact they don't run tournaments, where can I find any information on what games are running? I live less than 30 minutes from the place and had no idea they had 20 - something tables. Nothing shows up on Bravo. They don't even list poker as an option under their casino banner on the website - WHAT THE ****?! There's almost no signs that I could tell directing you to the poker room - if I hadn't seen an advertisement downstairs, I wouldn't have even known where to look. I went to the players card counter and they told me the best way to get info was to just call the room. Okay....what year is it again?

And if I'm just overlooking something, feel free to correct me. I didn't end up playing because it was late but I'll definitely look to go there in the future.

Was there during the day both on Saturday and Sunday and didn't see either incident firsthand but heard - maybe second or thirdhand - that a player was so berating to a dealer on Sunday morning that the dealer was left in tears. The player was kicked out, but I'm not sure about whether it was just for the day or longer. Also, on Saturday a floor apparently lost it on a player and said something about quitting but then came to his senses, apologized and perhaps nothing came of it. What is is about this room.....

Oh, and when I got there at noon on Sunday there was a woman at 2/5 who'd apparently been there since 5pm the evening prior and was sitting on about $6K in chips. She was still there when I took off at 3pm.

I was there early Sunday. I was sitting at the table next to the one where the incident with the dealer happened. There seems to have been some minor dispute. The dealer was accused of somehow doing something wrong. I couldn't really make it out. All I know for sure is, in the whole commotion, the dealer called floor over claiming the player accused her of not properly speaking English.

We went back to our game and I didn't notice anyone being kicked out.
Later, the same dealer was dealing at our table and she seemed fine.

Otherwise, aside from me playing poorly and losing almost two buy ins, everything else in the card room seemed to go smoothly.

This place is closer for me than Conn. But I still do not preference it.
The thing that stood out to me about the player pool is that a lot of them seem to be more from the pub poker scene.
Aside from a few seemingly competent players, most aren't really poker players per say but rather gamblers.

And that's the reason I play every week. The place is completely mis-managed and run quite incompetently.... but the games are juicy AF.
