I don't consider the MTTs at The Flamingo to be any type of prime example of how to run a daily tournament. Neither do you.

My point of example would be the MTTs at Aria, Caesars, what used to be a great daily at Venetian, even the 11am and 7pm dailys at Mirage, where all of them have a dedicated TD running the MTT, quick and consistent floor decisions, relaible starting times, structures, etc.

The MTTs at Flamingo and Harrahs are poorly run. You know this- so do I. I was there last weekend. Yes, I agree that a prime example of how not to run MTTs is Flamingo. They have the shift manager flooring for cash games, acting as TD for the MTTs, and running the entire room all at once. They are very slopy with their color-ups, never race off chips (just give you an extra), and appear to have no inventory controls. Hence- someone lifts their tournament chips.

But, yes, I do think there are prime examples of well-run daily MTTs in Las Vegas.

They wouldn't hold the clock on a chop discussion.
They wouldn't know the 100s of little things that any competent TD would know from experience, since they do not have any. And, they hire a bunch of Uncle Charlies and nieces from Cranston, instead of anyone with poker room experience.
I respectfully disagree with you. They do have *some* staff that would know what to do and how to handle it. They also have *lots* of staff that would have no clue and have all of the problems you mention above. The trick, of course, is to get the staff that does know what they are doing to be the ones in charge. This can happen. The casino management just has to come around to that realization. If that happens, then tournaments can be run without a problem.

Well, of course there are prime examples here of well run dailies. Why? Because there's a couple dozen rooms here.

My comparison is what people usually say "in Vegas they do it so well" or whatever comparisons people make.... Not everything is fabulous here in Sin City.

You think Twin River will pick up even more Foxwoods players since Foxwoods no longer has the bad beat jackpot? I noticed a decrease in 1/2 NL games already...

Has Twin River been reasonably busy during the weekdays Monday-Thursday?

Weekday business has been fairly typical for this time of year. Slow on Mondays & Tuesdays, busier on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If the Patriots play on Mon or Thur, the place is generally slower, even on day shift.

Swing shift has been typically busy - usually 12 games or so, sometimes more. Mondays and Tuesdays are slower on swing, too. Weekends they typically get all the games going.

I haven't heard anyone in the room say that they're there because Foxwoods got rid of the bad beat....but I haven't asked, either. Maybe I'll ask some players I haven't seen before why they're there.

I'm not sure if the bbj being gone is the reason, but there are a lot more Foxwoods regs. It probably has more to do with the 5-10 being run every night.

I'd like to know if the 1/2 NL runs throughout the night on the weekends. If I showed up at 7 am or so on a Saturday will there be anything going on? Same question on the weekdays too.

Pretty sure 1/2 runs 24/7/365. Friday night into Saturday definitely runs all night. You can always call TR and ask for the poker room to inquire about what games are running and how long are waits.

Unless There's a "NorEaster" then the whole place would close

1/2 and 2/5 run 24/7. the 5/10 occasionally will break midweek, but usually starts up again by noon.

Has anyone visited TR on a Tuesday night while Foxwoods is having the High Hand Promotion (as they are tonight)? I would imagine that a lot of the regs will be playing at FW. Thoughts?

I was at Twin last night, it was a little slower than usual. When i got there at 6 there was 1 5/10, 1 2/5 and like 5 1/2's. it may have been because of Halloween though, lot of guys with kids i imagine, it was a lot of the usual suspects. they opened up like 2 more 1/2s and a 2/5 around 8

Re: Twin River Casino (Lincoln, RI)

I know that this has been talked about before, but can we discuss how rude/unprofessional the majority of the workers are? I stepped up to the cage when the window was open and the lady ignores me for 10 or 15 seconds while she moves around paper clips or something and then scolds me saying that "next time you need to wait until you're called." I killed her with kindness and deliberately stood back a few feet and waited to be called when I was cashing out. And then of course the floor. There are a couple of awesome floor guys (Jimmy, etc) but others are the worst.

So, my name gets called and approach the floor: "Hi. John P., 2-5."
"So?"
"I'm next on the list, you just called my name."
"I don't know anything about that."
"Umm ok. Well, here's an open seat at the 2-5, I guess I'll sit here..."
Gives a weird look and walks away without saying anything.

I could go on and on. I'm not looking for much but where is the basic customer service? These people act like they're printing license plates.

Never mind their terrible rulings when called for by a dealer.

5/10 stud runs on Friday. Game usually breaks around 4pm. Most of the players in this game are miserable

It has probably been answered before, so I apologize in advance. But, does anyone have a detailed breakdown of the points/reward system at Twin River? Points/hour at each game, comps based on hours of play, what is required for lounge access, etc.

$1/hour for all games, regardless of stake. Can be used at all eateries. There may be some other places you can use it too but idk. I doubt it's possible to get lounge access from poker alone. That's for the table games gamblers.

Only games that are approved by RI law can be spread, and PLO is not an approved game.

I heard from the Rewards Desk the other night that they are going to be opening a Rewards Store...So you can buy a fridge for 12,000 pts.

I agree. Most of older ladies at cashier are very rude(younger ladies are normal), no greetings or saying anything back when I say "Hi" first. And, they always seem to have the scowl look and the "I don't give a ****" attitude. I don't know... they don't get paid enough? Or something else?

I don't need a special treatment, just a normal interaction.

They do not get paid very well, but I think the real reason for their misery is that several times an hour they have to walk ungrateful, stupid degens through bank wires and credit loans. Doing that 40 hours a week 50 weeks year has to be seriously draining on your soul. Just be nice to them, try to brighten their day by being chill, and be grateful you're not in their shoes.
