I don't consider the MTTs at The Flamingo to be any type of prime example of how to run a daily tournament. Neither do you.

My point of example would be the MTTs at Aria, Caesars, what used to be a great daily at Venetian, even the 11am and 7pm dailys at Mirage, where all of them have a dedicated TD running the MTT, quick and consistent floor decisions, relaible starting times, structures, etc.

The MTTs at Flamingo and Harrahs are poorly run. You know this- so do I. I was there last weekend. Yes, I agree that a prime example of how not to run MTTs is Flamingo. They have the shift manager flooring for cash games, acting as TD for the MTTs, and running the entire room all at once. They are very slopy with their color-ups, never race off chips (just give you an extra), and appear to have no inventory controls. Hence- someone lifts their tournament chips.

But, yes, I do think there are prime examples of well-run daily MTTs in Las Vegas.

They wouldn't know how to race off chips.
They wouldn't hold the clock on a chop discussion.
They wouldn't know the 100s of little things that any competent TD would know from experience, since they do not have any. And, they hire a bunch of Uncle Charlies and nieces from Cranston, instead of anyone with poker room experience.
I respectfully disagree with you. They do have *some* staff that would know what to do and how to handle it. They also have *lots* of staff that would have no clue and have all of the problems you mention above. The trick, of course, is to get the staff that does know what they are doing to be the ones in charge. This can happen. The casino management just has to come around to that realization. If that happens, then tournaments can be run without a problem.

Well, of course there are prime examples here of well run dailies. Why? Because there's a couple dozen rooms here.

My comparison is what people usually say "in Vegas they do it so well" or whatever comparisons people make.... Not everything is fabulous here in Sin City.

You think Twin River will pick up even more Foxwoods players since Foxwoods no longer has the bad beat jackpot? I noticed a decrease in 1/2 NL games already...

Has Twin River been reasonably busy during the weekdays Monday-Thursday?

Weekday business has been fairly typical for this time of year. Slow on Mondays & Tuesdays, busier on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If the Patriots play on Mon or Thur, the place is generally slower, even on day shift.

Swing shift has been typically busy - usually 12 games or so, sometimes more. Mondays and Tuesdays are slower on swing, too. Weekends they typically get all the games going.

I haven't heard anyone in the room say that they're there because Foxwoods got rid of the bad beat....but I haven't asked, either. Maybe I'll ask some players I haven't seen before why they're there.

I'm not sure if the bbj being gone is the reason, but there are a lot more Foxwoods regs. It probably has more to do with the 5-10 being run every night.
