Ya this is very frustrating.. sitting at a dead slot waiting

Went today for the first time this afternoon. Had to wait over 2 hours for a table; put my name in for both $3/6 limit and $1-2 no-limit and finally got called for the NL game. Because of the long wait I didn't get to play as long as I would have liked. Also, the table I was at was tougher/more aggressive than I was expecting although there were still some limped pots. One player liked to straddle when he was UTG. I played pretty tight and was down when an older woman got seated at the table and proceeded to overplay top pair against me in two pots I was involved in with her and that turned a bad session into a very good one (left +$123 after only around 2 hours of play).

Had no issues with the dealers or the floor, just the fact that they only have 16 tables. Most of the people on the waitlist (that stuck around) were on the rail and had no interest in playing other games so would be nice if they'd take that into consideration and expand the room. I did play a few hands of video poker while I was waiting since the machine was very close to the poker room but cashed out once I saw that the machine paid only 1 credit for 2 pair. Joke.

While I was on the rail a guy came up to me and asked how long I had been waiting (about 45 minutes at that point) and I told him that I hadn't even shown up on the board for the NL game yet and only moved up 1 spot for the limit game. He said he was going to go to Foxwoods.

Got here early, so i lucked out only a 15 min wait. Played 1-2 on 5 different tables, games were between ok and good, but not your typical twin river great 1-2 game. A lot of the casual players either left or went to the pits or slots.

FWIW, a dealer told me they are adding 6 new tables soon. It should help but the floors there are just terrible. I mean, they seem like nice people, they're just really bad at their jobs. The usual 30 ppl on the list, seat open for 15 minutes stuff was going on and the woman floor was just standing there saying "I can't get a 1-2 player" Umm, you're the floor, do something about it. That old guy that calls the names is the worst, he gives people WAY to much time to respond. With the staff in the whole casino it's like dawn of the dead.

I went back to Twin River on Friday, 12/30. Got there around 2pm and didn't get a seat until well after 4:30 though I had my name on all the lists! I know it's a busy time but the place is so badly run, making it worse than it should've been. And yes, I know it's only an hr away from Foxwoods! I thought I could talk guys into ANYTHING but my powers of persuasion must be failing me. I couldn't get the guy I was there with to drive me to FW. So there I stayed.

Played 1/2 for a couple hours. I was up about $200 when I was called for 5/10NL. It was my first time playing at such high stakes and quite frankly I shouldn't be there with my bankroll. I am normally an agro/action player but at 5/10 I was too afraid to play a hand....at first.

I picked my spots and won 2 small hands. Those 2 small hands put me up about $400 and then it was game on! I was getting decent starting hands but still too scared to play most of them. I was up about $1,300, thrilled and bouncing off the walls. The afore mentioned guy who wouldn't drive me to FW warned me as I gloated "Don't jinx yourself. Don't give it back!" Pfff I went back to my seat.

And gave back $800 in 2 hands.

One of the hands....I had AK and raised it to $60 pre, getting 2 callers. Flop was K-J-4 rainbow. I bet out $125 and biatch raised it to $325 total. I call w tptk. Turn is an 8. Now I'm ****ing scared and check. She goes all in. Did she go all in cuz I'm acting like a pussy now? Would she do that with less than tptk? Maybe. She had me well covered. The only hand I can put her on is K-J.....or perhaps a set. I tank for a bit. I feel behind but have a hard time throwing away the hand and the money in the pot, but I do it. I fold AK face up to a table telling me how dumb I am to do it.

Then the whore shows her hand; K-J. Grrrrrrrrr what a bad flop for me. I'm pissed/dazed and in 5 min down $800. (this was the 2nd hand I'd lost in a row.) I immediately stand up and pack up my chips to a chorus of "Don't go!" but I am soooo on tilt I know I shouldn't play another hand.

Besides, there was no way I was going to tell the afore mentioned friend that he was right and I jinxed myself. So I left up a little over $500.

Oh and the food at the shipyard isn't worth the modest prices.

I don't think I have even seen a woman at the 5/10, but I don't go that often. I bet there is a >50% chance it was her.

Sorry Josie I can't let you describe the person, we have privacy guidelines. But since I saw your post, I will just say that it wasn't her.

Wow! My reputation must precede me.
While I did play 5/10 on Friday, I would never call $60 preflop with KJ. There were three other women who played that day and two of them would cal $60 pre with KJ. Is she Asian or an older short haired woman?

Dude (dudette?) I play 2/5 roughly every other Saturday &/or Sunday (although not much over the holidays) and have only played with a couple of other females. Feel like I should know all these posters but have no idea who y'all are IRL.

I've only played there 3-4 times and didn't love it. Lately I'm playing at Hampton Falls, Foxwoods and rarely Seabrook.

There are a lot of flaws at Twin River. I have found that the action more than makes up for it. Over a 13 month sample size, my winrate is almost double what it was at FW. That makes up for a lot of their transgressions

I am! My experience mirrors yours re: TR vs. FW. I just hate the room at FW....played mostly Mohegan before TR opened. They are roughly the same distance for me, but, the commute is all highway from TR and mostly back roads from Connecticut, so I prefer to stay in RI. Add in a softer game/better win rate and TR becomes a no brainer. Hate paying for my bourbon though!
