Interesting discussion at a $2/$5 table last night.

Apparently at TR, you are allowed to push as many chips as you want forward, and as long as they don't cross the betting line it is not considered a valid bet/call. Multiple floors confirmed when the issue was brought up.

Also there was as situation where there was a raise to $15 preflop, and the small blind tried to make it $105 total by throwing out a black $100 on top of his $5 that was laying out there as his small blind. Someone argued that it was an invalid raise and should be ruled a call. Multiple floors came over to confirm it's just a call and not a raise, they called it the "small blind rule". I'm not sure if this is the same in other casinos or not.

The first is stupid and is opening up ways to angle shoot. Second is correct

Second is correct, it’s a call. If he clearly picks up how small blind, brings it back then puts 105 forward that’s a different story. Or if he obviously says raise when throwing the single $100 chip out there

Second is another variation of the one chip rule. Even if a chip is already out there, you are still throwing in one chip, which is a call.

Maybe splitting hairs or trying to cover a situation that would rarely if ever come up, but let's say a player used a $25 chip for a blind in a $2/$5 game and there's a raise to $15. Would putting out another $25 be considered a call too? I'd assume no - it would be a call only if the total that's out there in the form of the first chip is less than the amount of the raise?

If you put in only 1 chip, and can remove any 1 chip out there to make the amount out there less than the call amount, it is a call. So in the 25+25 case, it's a raise.

This is pretty standard if the room has betting lines and enforces them strictly. If their rule were "significant forward motion" (they may have an unenforced line as a "convenience line" for the dealers), then this would be an incorrect ruling (so long as the motion was beyond your cards or whatever the room deemed "significant").

Either rule allows for different types of angles. Forward motion was the original rule (many years ago, many poker tables didn't even have bet lines), but as lots of new rooms and players have come into live poker over the last 15 years or so, enforced bet lines seem to have become much more common. I think this is because they seem to be more clear and less subjective (especially to new players/rooms). I wouldn't go so far as to call them "stupid", but I personally prefer the old rule, which actually seemed (perhaps counter-intuitively) to generate fewer angles and controversies than the strict bet lines do.

I read today "around Thanksgiving". I haven't been to Twin River in a while, is there any construction going on to build up a sports book?

It's twin river. They will buy a few folding tables from an estate sale and set them up in a corner somewhere and call it a sports book.

No construction necessary. Bruno, Johnny, Paulie, and Vinny are going to set up their shops next to the rest rooms.

Hello!

I will be heading to Twin River midweek, next week. Could anyone give me a quick recap of the games they offer?

Is it all NLHE? I know they have 1-2, 2-5 & 5/10. Curious if there are any PLO games or whatever else there is for midweek.

Thank you!

NLHE, LHE, limit stud hi are only games allowed to be spread by law. 1/2,2/5,5/10 all runs nearly round the clock. LHE only ever 3/6 runs most times. Stud is only ever 5/10 but hasn't run much of late.
