Turningstone is the only casino Ive been too so far in my life, as far as Im concerned, yeah some of the dealers make mistakes but they seem fine. In terms of slowing down the game and costing you money they dont seem to cause many problems. The worst I have seen it get is that a player will make some type of stupid mistake and blame the dealer for an error that wasnt as impactful as the players initial error. Probably been up there like 10 times and its always been worth the trip. If anyone ever plans on going down and wants to room or something hit me up and maybe we can work something out. Some of the dealers are drones but some are pretty cool, I remember this one dealer George being really talkative and making live play less painful.

So I am playing at a 1/2 table the other day around 2am and a guy about 35-40 sits down wearing red pants, a red FullTilt sweatshirt, and a red FullTilt hat. In describing his previous table, he used terms such as ridonkulous. Every SINGLE time someone gathered chips for a raise, he would loudly and intimidatingly inquire," How much?" At first it was cute and I chuckled, but after the 10th straight hand I just looked at him curiously. He was arrogant and totally changed the somewhat loose and friendly game dynamic into a tense, uncomfortable atmosphere because whenever he did raise, he would say, rather loudly, things such as," Common. Take me down. Let's go! I'll take you down." He said these things with an intensity that no one could possibly mistake as a joke.

Does this description fit you?

I saw a drunk asian chic get into an argument with an ex-air force guy last time I was there.

That was a really fun table.

Sorry, no pics of asian chic but she was kinda hot, seemed like a reg too because after she left my dealer announced she was nuts.

How often does Turning Stone spread Omaha 8? I called and asked but I didn't get a great answer. How's the play? Do they ever play higher than 5/10?

Thanks

I been wanting to get up here and grind out a good long weekend session and with all this talk of the 18 year old "poker pros" back in college now I expect this place to be full of them? Is it like I hear about TS? Like taking candy from a baby?

I went there for a weekend and had literally the worst runbad ever. I'm a 20 year old kid from CT whos been to TS 3 times and grinded twice. First time I left with like +500 at 1/2, second time I left down 4.

I played from 7pm to like 9-30 am.
AA cracked pf by AK (lolflush)
AI on the flop on A K 8 my K8 vs his A7, turn 7
AI on the flop Q 7 10 my QQ to his KJ, turned a straight.

All 3 times was against some young kid thinking hes a poker pro, then the worst part is that the table was commending their play, every time. While I'm just sitting there /facepalm

Turning stone is full of young morons. Dont assume the young kids are solid internet players, the majority of them are just like the old guys, except a little more reckless with their money.

How do I land the $80 hotel rate in the tower, like i've read elsewhere on 2+2?
Just tell mgt I'll be playing poker?
I'm headed there tomorrow and would prefer not to pay 189 for a room.

go across the street?

they just built a new hotel there, might be way cheaper than staying there, esp if you are there to make money, not be a tourist. Personally, if I had a really late tournament night i'll take a nap in the car before i go home ( i live 90 minutes away) so theres not point for me getting a room there, so I am not a great one to ask of hotels. as for the games, yeah i cant wait for the idiot college kids to get back in there, these idiots think they play a few thousand hands online = pro that can crush a 1/2 easily.

No, it is always 5/10. It hasn't been a 4/8 game in over two years. It runs on Friday, Saturday, and sometimes Sunday. The game isn't even that great. The majority of the regulars are the nitty type of old men/women. There are two really terrible regulars that keep the game afloat most days.

I go to TS about once a year visiting grandma. I normally play 10-20 limit in AC, I played the 15-30 at TS a while back, it was a great game. I also briefly played the Omaha 8, I think it was 4-8 at the time. Any chance they get a 20-40 going on a Saturday (tomorrow)? Otherwise, I guess I will play omaha or no limit.

One of the very first times I played live in a casino was at Turning Stone. I won a nice pot playing 3-6 limit holdem, and I slowrolled a guy with my quad kings. I had no idea this was bad etiquette at the time, as my only exposure to live poker was watching Phil Hellmuth on ESPN.

I have only been to Turning Stone in the summer and only on weekends. The games were pretty good then but how do they compare now that school is going on? I don't mind being at a table with a bunch of kids, so long as they are "trust-fund kids." I believe someone earlier in this thread used this term before. I may head up there the day after Thanksgiving to play the 1/2 NL game there. Since I have played over 10k hands online, I should have no problem crushing the live donks.

One bonus at playing the tourneys at TS is that you can purchase your seat via PTseats.com.

And... Were back to this again... "since ive played x hands online 12 tabling I can crush live..." that always compares to seeing maybe 30 hands an hour... Yes you are probably better than a majority of live players... But adjusting your hand ranges and the pure boredom factor of live play will probably crush your soul... Opposed to vice versa.

And your not going to have trust fund babies 5 hours away from any type of civilization. Especially at chezburger stakes

TS during tourney series is amazing. Decent action and even non-series dealers have all been awesome but was there non-series one time gayest **** ever all 1/2 one 2/5 game filled with all the ****ing old nits bitter just no fun to play at all. During series though every weekend 5/10 is always running and it's always mega-soft. Also not much to do other than gamble. Also lotta donks tip like $5/hand at 1/2 and dealers rarely get anything for tourneys so understandable that they'd like cash way more than tourneys. But still dealers have been pretty solid for all games few are just bitter and cold but most are super friendly will joke around just make the games a lot more fun and obv know their **** for rules/protocol so the game runs good as well.

Perhaps my humor is one level above...or below your thinking. I was completely kidding when I said the bit about how since I have played over 10k hands online I should have no problem beating the live donks. 10k hand online is very little and proves almost nothing.

I actually might be coming up as well either Friday or Saturday with a few friends to play some 1/2. It's not a guarantee though because it is a 4 hour drive and we are going to Buffalo Wild Wings to gorge ourselves with food and we might have had a heart attack from all of the wings we will have eaten.
