I hope this becomes a problem for me in the next year or so, lol.
There are chip runners.

When it is slow, the brush also does the chips. When it is busy, there is a dedicated chip runner (and sometimes two!). Having said that, they usually are helping the dealers, as the room prefers for players to buy in at the cage and reload from the dealer, if possible. But the dealer can call a chip runner for a player.

At the same time, it is less than a hundred feet from the 2/5 tables to the cage. Is it that hard to carry three racks? (And if it is, there is a regular who always has the chip runner cash his chips in for him. So that service does appear to be available.)

I would have thought there were procedures in place to not allow players to take chips off of the table for fear of "going south". That's why I didn't think doing it myself at the cage would have been an option.

My misunderstanding. I thought you were concerned about having too much to carry when you cashed out. If the issue is just having too many chips in front of you, then (1) ask the dealer to color you up, (2) ask other players to color you up (plenty show up with greens and blacks), and then (3) ask for a chip runner to color you up.

Having said that, I always find that mountains of reds send much more of a message at the table than a stack of greens or a handful of blacks.

If you are playing 1/2, you should probably bring $1,000 (5 buy-ins). If you are playing 2/5, you should probably bring $2,500. Since you have never played in a casino environment before, I would suggest playing 1/2.

Also, since you are a 3.5 hour drive away, it would be beneficial for you to get a room for a night of two (especially seeing you can split it with your friend), as it does not make much sense to drive 7 hours for just 1 session.
thanks for the info. I think we should spring for the room and put in two sessions to make it worth our while.

Nope, I'm from northern NJ, a couple minutes from NYC. Are there any closer options that I've missed in my research?

How far are you from PARX casino in Ben Salem PA ? Great room with lots of 1/2 action..... Fri and Sat nights are prime nights to play cash, and they have probably some of the best daily/nightly tournaments on the east coast aside from the Borgata..... Sands Bethlehem is also a prime area for soft 1/2 tables

I'm currently about an hour and a half from that area but I could always stay at my university apartment(Temple U in Philly) which is only about 20 minutes for easy access. My main concern for the casinos you mentioned and what draws me to turning stone is the 18+ gambling age. Are the above casinos 18+? If they are, then this could prove very profitable for me when I return to university for fall semester.

21 for both. Turning stone is your only REAL option unless you find and underground game

Has anyone here also played at the Seneca Niagra casino in Niagra Falls?

I have to go there next week, and was wondering how the room is in comparison to the one at Turning Stone.

turning stone all day. Seneca is pretty bad. bad comps. room smells like urine. their 1-2 is all 100max, with one 200 max table. 100max is a pure shove fest. maybe 2 2-5 tables.

Can anyone comment on how many runners the $40 Thursday re-entry tournament gets on average, I plan on playing this Thursday.

Thanks in advance.

Guess not, must be a pretty dead room, my guess would be 40-60.

What is the action like ? thinking about coming down for the weekend? What games are usually spread over weekend? Any 50/100 limit ? PLO?, 5-10 NLH?

Unfortunately not redbox. Occasionally 50 lhe will get going but only if the right group is there (and I'm there or one other person in particular to get it going).
5/10 rarely runs and if it does it's usually very shorthanded. I was there last weekend and i played 5/10 for a short period of time. 5/10 PLO never runs (I saw it once when we turned a 5/10nlhe game into a half nl half plo.
Your best bet would be to come up in early august when they're having their big tournament series. 50 will be going and the same goes for 5/10.

In case anyone else is interested, It got 44 runners, but they did not keep track of how many re entry's there were.

I chopped it three ways with the last two runners for $368.00. (Small Brag)
